New Ongoing SPIDER-MAN & THE X-MEN Fills a Void

When Wolverine dies, it makes it a little difficult to have a book in present-day continuity called Wolverine and the X-Men. So, Marvel’s having that other ubiquitous character takeover for an all-new all-different series called: Spider-Man and the X-Men!

Announced Wednesday on Comicbook.com, the new series comes from writer Elliott Kalan and artist Marco Failla. While the name seems to imply Spider-Man’s in charge, it makes a little more sense than that: Spidey’s the guidance counselor! The series launches in December, and the first arc features a unique team-up: Sauron and Stegron the Dinosaur Man.

”The X-Men aren’t very happy with having Spider-Man involved with the school,” Kalan said in the announcement interview. “He’s not a mutant, and though he may be a friend of the X-Men, he’s not a member of the family.” However, it seems his placement was one of Wolverine’s wishes before he died.

The conflicts will come from within and without. Spider-Man has a mission to run for Wolverine with the X-Men, but also has reason to believe one of the kids at the school is a plant for the mutants’ enemies (something that’s happened more than once, even at this iteration of the school). And while the book won’t just be about Spider-Man fighting X-Men villains, “it’s super-awesome to make

Spidey fight X-villains,” Kalan admitted.
Fans of the younger generation of mutants shouldn’t worry about them being pushed to the background, though. “Time for Shark Girl and Glob Herman to take the main stage!” the writer said.

“I want to spotlight some of the newer X-men students who have been around for a little while but haven't gotten all of the attention I think they've deserved. The stars of this book are Spider-Man and his class of students. We'll see many of the other X-Men, but characters like Storm and Beast get plenty of attention.”
Spider-Man’s “special class” will consist of No-Girl, Rockslide, Glob Herman, Ernst, Hellion, Shark Girl, and Eye Boy, specifically, and Kalan says he’s “enjoying figuring out their voices and personalities.”

15 Easter Eggs You Might Have Missed In Marvel Movies

Hey Otakus and Geeks fans, Here are some Easter eggs you might have missed in some of your favorite Marvel Movies. Some where Known and out in the open, Some where hidden and True comic fans would notice, and others were deleted scenes just on DVD.

THE ORGINAL HUMAN TORCH

When Bucky and Steve Rogers enter Stark Expo a figure in a bright red jumpsuit is seen behind glass. This is the original Human Torch, Marvel's very first character, back when it was called Timely Comics.

The original Human Torch, from the Golden Age of comic books, was an android character who started out as something of a villain, and later became a superhero. The character eventually fell into obscurity while Captain America prospered, and is something of a forgotten relic today.

 AMAZING SPIDERMAN (ITSY BITSY SPIDER)

During the climactic battle with Electro, the two bounce through the electrical conduits causing them to emit singular notes, which play out to "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" nursery rhyme.

X2 MUTANT INDEX LIST

In X2, Mystique hacks a computer in a government building where Striker works. It brings up a list of the names of many famous marvel Mutants. Remy LeBeau (Gambit), Ororo Munroe (Storm), Jamie Madrox (Multiple Man) ,Maximoff (2)  (Quick Silver and Scarlet Witch), Danielle Moonstar (WarPath).

THE WOLVERINE- BROWN AND YELLOW SUIT

In a deleted scene taking place after the events of The Wolverine, Logan is given a suitcase, he opens it to reveal the original brown and yellow comic suit. Most fans will remember this suit when Wolverine joined the X-Men. (Not to be confused with the Yellow and Blue Suit)

THE THIEF THAT APPEARED IN BOTH FANCHISES

The only actor to appear in both Spider-Man franchises, the actor who played the burglar who killed Uncle Ben appears as Ratha's chauffeur.

 FELICIA HARDY (AKA BLACK CAT)

Harry Osborn's assistant is named Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat. Black Cat has been both a villain and an ally to Spider-Man over the years when she's not busy cat burgling. Felicia Hardy is the daughter of a world-renowned cat burglar. After suffering a traumatic event as a college freshman, she trained herself in various fighting styles and acrobatics and, after deciding to follow in her father's footsteps, adopted her costumed identity as the Black Cat

CROSS BONES (CAPT AMERICA WINTER SOLDIER)

A mercenary, The Red Skull, and of Hydra, Brock Rumlow makes his first appearance in Winter Soldier. By the end not only is Crossbones charred to a crisp but his criss-crossed gun straps make for a pretty great translation of his comic costume. Crossbones first appeared during the "Bloodstone Hunt" storyline in the issues of Captain America. Technically, he first appeared in issue #359, in one panel, as a figure watching from the shadows. In the next issue, he was shown in costume, but again he simply observed the Captain and his allies from afar. He later revealed his name to Diamondback before knocking her unconscious in his first full appearance in issue #362.

THOR ALTER-EGO DR. DONALD BLAKE

In the original run of Thor, the mighty god was sent down to earth and into the body of disabled med-student, Donald Blake. The alias has popped up over the years and is winked at with the Thor's fake ID in the film.

THE AVENGERS TOWER

Right before The Avengers cuts to the credits, though, we see Tony Stark and Pepper Potts in the damaged Stark Tower, throwing together some new plans on that awesome computer thing. If  you look closely ( PAUSE THE DVD LOL) there are symbols for each of the member's quarters symbolized by their icons: Thor's hammer, Hawkeye's bow, Cap's Shield etc.

 THE LEADER (INCREDIBLE HULK)

Dr. Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson) ends up with the Hulk's radioactive blood dripping into an open head wound and his entire head begins to expand, he smiles. The Leader, Hulks nefarious nemesis BIO: Born Samuel Sterns in Boise, Idaho, he worked for a chemical plant there in a menial capacity. While moving radioactive materials into an underground storage area, some of the radioactive materials exploded, bombarding Sterns with gamma radiation. He recovered, and found that the radiation had changed him from an ordinary human into a green-skinned, super-intelligent entity with an oversized brain housed in a towering cranium. As was the case with most individuals mutated by gamma radiation early-on, the particular set of characteristics Sterns acquired by exposure to it were said to result from a subconscious desire; in his case, the desire to be as smart as his brother Philip, who was a physicist in the employ of the same facility. Calling himself the Leader, Sterns embarked on various ambitious criminal schemes.

SUPER SOLDIER SERUM AND WEAPON X

General Ross dusts off a Stark Industries branded liquid serum to give Blonsky, revealing the name Dr. Reinstein. In comic cannon, Reinstein was the man who administered the Super Soldier Serum to Steve Rogers making him into Captain America. Weapons PLUS is also a Marvel reference to the Weapon's program that brought us Wolverine, (Weapon X) and Deadpool etc.

 GWEN STACY"S DEATH

Most comic fans knew Gwen Stacy was going to die once they saw the Green Goblin in Amazing Spiderman 2. But the most subtle nod was when the broken hands of the clock finally stop spinning to point at 1:21, Gwen Stacy died back in Amazing Spider-Man #121

 THE COLLECTORS COLLECTION

Adam Warlock's cocoon appears in The Collector's chamber. The character debuted in Fantastic Four #66-67 (Sept.-Oct. 1967) in a story written by Stan Lee and pencilled and co-plotted by Jack Kirby. After a second appearance as "Him" in Thor #165-166 (June–July 1969), writer and then Marvel editor-in-chief Roy Thomas and penciler Gil Kane significantly revamped Him as the allegorical Messiah Adam Warlock in Marvel Premiere #1 (April 1972)

DOCTOR STRANGE (CAPT AMERICA WINTER SOLDIER)

In a scene when Capt America and Falcon are Interrogating Jasper Stitwell, He mentions Stephen Strange as one the people they are keeping an eye on as a potential threat to hydra. This leads us to believe there will be a Doctor Strange Movie Coming soon and will be linked to the Avengers Universe.

S.H.I.E.L.D'S  MAP

At the end of Iron Man 2, a map on the wall at S.H.I.E.L.D's  HQ shows some parts of the map Highlighted. Africa (Possible appearance of Black Panther in future Movies) and the Atlantic Ocean (Namor a Member of the Avengers) This could also be a good way for the studios to connect the Universes as NAMOR, Professor X, Reed Richards, Iron Man, and Doctor Strange are all apart of the Illuminati. The group forms at some time in the aftermath of the Kree-Skrull War, and probably after the Avengers/Defenders war. Iron Man realizes that each of the individual members had information about these alien races beforehand, and they could have collectively stopped it. He brings together the Illuminati with the Black Panther in Wakanda, and proposes that they form a government of superhumans.

There are many other Marvel Easter Eggs though out different movies, Like Capt. America's Body in a Deleted/Alternate Opening in the Incredible Hulk and when Agent Coulson hands Tony Starks a file that reads:"Project Pegasus" and "Project 42". These are codenames for a project Iron Man works on during the Civil War storyline, a prison for super villains called Project 42, at a place called Project Pegasus.

If you saw any Easter Eggs I missed let me know in the comments Below!

News: Edge Of Spider-Verse #3 First Look

Today we have a first look at Marvel Comics Edge Of Spider #3.  Written, drawn, and colored by Dustin Weaver (INFINITY, Avengers), the issue introduces readers to a brand new Spider-Man, Dr. Aaron Aikman.

“Unlike Peter, he chose to be Spider-Man,” says Weaver of his new creation, in an interview with Marvel.com. “He did it himself, to become a hero for his city. I guess that says a lot about the character of my Spider-Man. He’s got a big ego and being good at being Spider-Man is a point of pride. He doesn’t struggle with responsibility. He enjoys it. Other than his origin being different, he also has a completely different cast of supporting characters and villains.”
As Aikman dons the helmet of his Spider-Man suit composed of bleeding-edge technology, he confronts the evil that plagues his New York City. As the villainous Red Eye and Naahmurah wreak havoc on his world, only Spider-Man stands capable of saving the day! But is he prepared for the onslaught of Spider-Verse and the coming of Morlun?

Edge of Spider-Verse #3 goes on sale this September.

The World According to Spider-Man Review

Every wonder what it's like to be Spider-Man? Ever wonder what it's like to be a superhero. The World According to Spider-Man does just that. Written by author Daniel Wallace, the book takes you a guide on how to be a superhero according to our favorite neighborhood webslinger. Wallace has written a book that is witty, fresh and does justice to Spider-Man. The World According To Spider-Man also contains some cool facts such as Peter Parker's report card. I found it ironic that Spider-Man would get C- in gym. However I guess that was to not bring any suspicion onto him that he is Spider-Man.

The highlight of the book is when Spider-Man gives the reader tips on how to be a hero. He gives you insight on proper costume choices, breaking down the difference between super villians and regular crooks. He even gives you tips on balancing a love life when one is a superhero. Check out this hilarious conversation he has with M.J. below to see what I mean.

Superhero Problems
Overall if you love Spidey you will love this witty look into his world. Author Daniel Wallace does a great job of giving you Spidey's persona in this book. If you're a fan of the webslinger than this will be great to add to your collection. It's short, sweet and straight to the point. There is even a surprise cameo by a nemesis giving you his views on superheroes. This book is a winner. Suit up spidey fans.

Peter Parker Meets Miles Morales In June in "Spider-Men"

This June, it’s time for Peter Parker, better known as the Amazing Spider-Man, to cross worlds and meet Miles Morales…the all-new Spider-Man? Marvel is proud to announce Spider-Men, an all-new five issue landmark story from award-winning author Brian Michael Bendis (Avengers VS. X-MenUltimate Comics Spider-Man), red-hot artist Sara Pichelli (Ultimate Comics Spider-Man) and acclaimed cover artist Jim Cheung (Avengers VS. X-Men), which brings Peter Parker and Miles Morales together for the first time. That’s right, the Spider-Man from two different realities—the Marvel Universe and Ultimate Comics Universe—bring their worlds together for a battle no one web-head could win!

When Spider-Man tracks down one of his deadliest villains, he suddenly finds himself thrust into another world where Peter Parker is dead…and there’s a new Spider-Man in town. As these two heroes learn the truth about their identities and their universes, they’ll embark on a journey that’ll leave them forever changed—and reveal a startling truth about a key player in the Spider-Man mythos!

“This year is the 50th anniversary of Spider-Man and we’re so happy that the stars aligned for us to tell a Spider-Man story that nobody has ever seen before,” said Bendis. “It’s an honor and a privilege to present both this story and these characters to fans on such an auspicious occasion. The work Sara has done on Spider-Men is a step above the already high standard that she has set for herself on our Ultimate Comics Spider-Man series. For me, this is a celebration of the best character in mainstream comics and some of the best art mainstream comics has to offer.”

Each issue of Spider-Men features variants covers by some of the biggest names in comics including Humberto Ramos  (Amazing Spider-Man), Mike Deodato (New Avengers), Marcos Martin (Amazing Spider-Man), Terry Dodson (Avenging Spider-Man), Travis Charest (Captain America) and Sara Pichelli.

"Knowing how much Brian loves and respects Spider-Man, there’s no way I wouldn’t want to work on Spider-Men with him,” said Sara Pichelli. “It’s going to be an explosive celebration of Spider-Man’s 50th anniversary—are you ready?”

In 1962’s Amazing Fantasy #15, the world first met Peter Parker and saw him become the hero Spider-Man in the Marvel Universe. Soon after, Spider-Man became a pop culture sensation, launching multiple television series, blockbuster films and some of the most popular comics of all time. Then in 2011, Marvel introduced Miles Morales, a new character of African American and Hispanic descent, who became Spider-Man in the Ultimate Comics Universe after that world’s Peter Parker perished.

“This is one of the biggest stories in Marvel history,” said Axel Alonso, Editor in Chief, Marvel Entertainment. “Peter Parker and Miles Morales are two of our most popular characters and fans have been clamoring for them to meet—we’ve got quite a few surprises in store for both characters. This is only the beginning of how we’re celebrating Spider-Man’s spectacular 50th Anniversary.”

This June, swing into action with world’s most amazing super heroes in Spider-Men #1.
