Will Marvel and Netflix dominate on the small screen in 2015

Hey Otakus and Geeks fans, as the year comes to a close ,2015 is setting up to be an exciting year for comic book fans. DC has ruled the small screen with (1st) Smallville, Then Arrow. Now they have a dominant line up adding Gotham, Flash, and Constantine showing four out of the seven days of the week. Marvel has been ruling the big screen with hit like Ironman, Capt. America, The Avengers, and Spiderman. Will 2015 be the year Marvel and Netflix dominate the small screen?

Here are a few reason why I think it might happen. Now for those who aren't familiar with any of the characters and shows I'm about to mention, I will give a brief description of them below for each reason. Ok so lets get into it!

1. AGENTS OF SHIELD.

Marvel's Agents of Shield has done a great job keeping continuity between the TV and Movie universe. (Something I am very surprised DC isn't planning on doing) For those who are fans of the show, we all were surprised to see the link between the events on the show ran parallel with the events of Capt. America: The Winter Soldier. Knowing the same characters will play their roles in both TV and Movie helps to keep fans interested and not sending hate mail to the studios asking why you took out their favorite actor. ( Hint, Hint DC!)

2. DARE DEVIL

Dare Devil will be the first Marvel series that will premiere exclusively on Netflix spring of 2015. If you haven't heard anything about it Check out my New York Comic Con article here

After seeing a few clips at NYCC fans of the character are in for what looks like an awesome series. The best thing about it.....you won't have to wait a week to see what happens after a cliff hanger episode. Just scroll down and click next ep. LOL. No mid-season finale and No breaks in the season to stretch it out. If this format works, it will be a way to introduce other Character of the Marvel Universe that might not have gotten a chance to see live action.

3. JESSICA JONES

Jessica Jones is the next anticipated series to premiere exclusively on Netflix. Marvel has casted Kysten Ritter (Breaking Bad, Gilmore Girls) to play the character which in my opinion was a good choice. Since Jessica Jones was an Agent of Shield this should tie in nicely with abc series, which  Jeph Loeb (Head of Marvel Television) hinted cryptically  "It's all connected, man," at the NYCC Dare Devil panel. For those who don't know about Jessica    Jones, Below will be a quick history.

4. THE DEFENDERS

All the Netflix series (DareDevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist) will lead to THE DEFENDERS!! It's been awhile since we have had a Super Hero team up on the small screen. DC might get the first stab at it with Teen Titan series on TNT. The Defenders has a chance to be that series. It's on Netflix so they can push the limits that they might not be able to on basic cable channels or local TV. Marvel Studio's has had a good track record so far of telling great stories and getting actors to play the right characters. (again hint, hint DC). A Thirteen episode Marvel series, set in New York, possible Avengers and Shield cameo's, plus who knows what other Marvel character could make an appearance! This is shaping up to be one great 2015 for Marvel.

Now don't get me wrong DC and Warner Bros. are killing it right now. Constantine is the only show they say has bad rating and in my opinion it's a really good show that they should give some more time to develop. With this monster line up Marvel and Netflix has planned for 2015, they might give DC and Warner Bros. a run for their money. What's your opinion? Leave a comment below and let us know what you think about these or any of the upcoming series.

JESSICA JONES

Jessica Jones was a normal woman until a car accident doused her with chemicals and put her into a coma. She had attended high-school with Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, and they had shared several classes together. It was only years later, after he revealed his identity to the "Secret Avengers" (and her), that she told him that she had had a crush on him. This made her husband, Luke Cage, a little jealous. She had also had a crush on the Human Torch when she was younger.

Jessica emerged from her coma around the time the Fantastic Four first encountered Galactus, an event in which tremendous energies were given off. After her recovery, Jessica discovered that she had developed superhuman powers. She attempted to become a super heroine, calling herself Jewel, but did not have much success. While trying out her powers, she accidentally crash-landed on the Scorpion, who was robbing a laundromat. This was enough to stun him so he could be apprehended.

Jessica was captured by the Purple Man and kept prisoner for eight months, though never used for sexual means. She was eventually sent to attack the red-costumed Daredevil at wherever the "...costume frat boys hang out..." and kill anyone who got in the way, after a newspaper report angered Killgrave. Jessica became disoriented once she was out of range of the pheromones produced by Killgrave but, having been under his control for so long, she was still focused on her mission. She ended up attacking the Scarlet Witch because her costume was red. After hitting The Scarlet Witch, she snapped out of Killgrave's control. Thinking the gathered Avengers and Defenders would attack her, Jessica ran away, but was found and nearly killed by the Vision and Iron Man. Jean Grey of the X-Men helped awaken Jessica from another coma. Following several months of recovery, she was asked to join The Avengers as S.H.I.E.L.D. liaison, but declined the offer.

Still bitter about her experience, Jessica briefly became a hardened vigilante, calling herself Knightress. She soon retired as a super heroine and began a new career as a detective, specializing in super hero activity. In one case, she succeeded in finding the missing Spider-Woman, Mattie Franklin.

LUKE CAGE

Born and raised in Harlem, New York, Carl Lucas spent his youth in a gang called The Rivals. With his best friend Willis Stryker, he fought the rival gang the Diablos and committed various petty thefts, often on behalf of deformed crimelord Sonny Caputo, a.k.a. Hammer. In and out of juvenile homes throughout his teens, Lucas dreamed of becoming a major New York racketeer until he finally realized how his actions were hurting his family; he sought to better himself as an adult, finding legitimate employment. Meanwhile, Stryker rose through the ranks of crime, but the two men remained friends.

When Stryker's activities angered the Maggia (a.k.a. the Syndicate), he was badly beaten in a mob hit, saved only by Lucas's intervention. When Stryker's girlfriend, Reva Connors, broke up with him in fear of his violent work, she sought solace from Lucas. Convinced that Lucas was responsible for the breakup, Stryker planted heroin (stolen from Cottonmouth's organization) in Lucas' apartment and tipped off the police. Lucas was arrested and sent to prison; contact with his family was sparse due to the resentment of his brother James, Jr., who intercepted Lucas's letters to their father James and eventually led each to believe the other was dead.

In prison, Lucas was consumed by rage over Stryker's betrayal and his father's supposed death, engaging in frequent brawls and escape attempts. Eventually transferred to Seagate Prison off the coast of Georgia, he became the favorite target of sadistic guard Albert "Billy Bob" Rackham, whose brutality ultimately led to a demotion that he blamed on Lucas. Later, research scientist Dr. Noah Burstein recruited Lucas as a volunteer for experimental cell regeneration based on a variant of the Super-Soldier process he had previously used to empower Warhawk.

Burstein immersed Lucas in an electrical field conducted by an organic chemical compound; when he left Lucas unattended, Rackham misused the experiment's controls, hoping to maim or kill Lucas. Lucas's treatment was accelerated past its intent, inducing body-wide enhancement that gave him superhuman strength and durability. He used his new power to escape Seagate and made his way back to New York, where a chance encounter with criminals inspired him to use his new powers for profit.

Adopting the alias Luke Cage and donning a distinctive costume, he launched a career as a Hero for Hire, helping anyone who could meet his price. He soon established an office in Times Square's Gem Theater, where he befriended film student D.W. Griffith. Burstein, aware of his friend's innocence, also relocated to New York and opened a medical clinic, assisted by Dr. Claire Temple, whom Cage began dating. Although Cage would have been content to battle strictly conventional criminals, he soon learned that New York was hardly the place to do so. Stryker himself had become a Maggia agent as Diamondback and died battling Cage. Subsequent opponents included Gideon Mace, an embittered veteran seeking a U.S. takeover who would become a frequent foe.

Chemistro, whose Alchemy Gun would be a weapon later used by others, including his own brother after Curtis reformed; the brothers Discus and Stiletto (sons of the warden who was fired after Cage's escape from prison) Shades and Commanche, all criminals with ties to Cage's prison days who would face him repeatedly over the years.

IRON FIST

Daniel Rand was the son of businessman Wendell Rand, who had once lived in the fabled city of K'un-Lun, which exists in another dimensional realm. Wendell Rand-K'ai, as he was known there was the eldest son and heir of Lord Tuan, who ruled K'un-Lun, in the guise of the August Personage in Jade. However, Wendell was driven from K'un-Lun by his brother, who not only wanted to rule K'un-Lun himself, but who was Wendell's rival for the love of a woman named Shakirah. It was Wendell that Shakirah chose, and she bore him a daughter, Miranda. Wendell found refuge on Earth and became a successful businessman in the United States. In his absence, Tuan died and Wendell's brother succeeded him as Yu-Ti, the August Personage in Jade. Wendell married a woman named Heather, who bore him a son, Daniel.

Wendell sought to return to K'un-Lun, which ordinarily was only accessible from Earth through an interdimensional nexus that opened once every ten years. When Daniel was nine, his father traveled to Tibet along with Heather and his business partner Harold Meachum in search of the nexus to K'un-Lun. Toppling off a treacherous mountain passage, Daniel dragged his mother and father over the ice shelf with him. While he and his mother landed on a ledge below, his father dangled over the sheer drop of the mountainside and called to his partner for help. Hoping to take over Rand's share of the business, Meachum instead caused him to lose his grip and plunge to his death. Though Meachum offered to help Heather Rand and her son, they spurned him. Attempting to make it back to camp on their own, Heather and her son spied a long suspension bridge as a pack of wolves attacked. Heather tried to hold them off long enough for her son to get to safety and was killed in the effort

Soon thereafter, denizens of K'un-Lun found the boy and took him to their city. There Daniel was brought before Yu-Ti, who had secretly plotted the murder of both Wendell and Heather. Yu-Ti apprenticed Daniel to the martial arts master Lei Kung the Thunderer

Rand's training under Lei Kung was rigorous. At age sixteen Rand earned the Crown of Fu-Hsi, king of the vipers, vanquished four foes in the ritualistic Challenge of the Many, and defeated Shu-Hu, a mechanical being whose name means "Lightning". Rand diligently conditioned his hands by thrusting them into tubs of hot sand, then gravel, and finally rock.

At age nineteen Rand was given the opportunity to gain the power of the Iron Fist. He was sent to battle the enormous fire-breathing serpent called Shou-Lao the Undying which lived in a cave outside the city and which ferociously guarded a brazier containing its heart, which had mystically been removed from its body. In their battle Rand grabbed the serpent's body, which bore a scar which imprinted itself upon Rand's chest. Killing the serpent, Rand plunged his hands into the now unguarded brazier containing Shou-Lao's molten heart when his hands shone with a quasi-mystical force and he earned the title "Iron Fist," for he could now summon superhuman energy to reinforce the power of blows struck by his hands.
