Lenni Reviews: "Blood Borne" by Archer Kay Leah

*This review was given to me in exchange for an honest review.

Ress is cornered between two opposing factions while all he wants is a quiet life with his family. Arden is trapped by duty to the Shar-denn and the orders to hunt down Ress for betraying them yet Arden finds the growing feelings for Ress may outweigh the task.

Setting aside how fucking confusing the pronouns for a nonbinary/gender queer character (Arden) are without knowing them before you start this book and think they are typos, it is the characters that make this book. The writing makes them come alive but the rest? I sadly found it tiresome. Boring isn't quite the word because I made it through the book without my mind fogging and my eyes glazing over but if what made the impact is the new pronouns making me feel like an out of touch old geezer, then something is missing. Not bad, took a chance with a character like Arden which needs to happen more, but ultimately a 3.5.

Lenni Reviews: "Bettie Page" Vol. 1 by David Avallone

*This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review and is recommended for older readers.

In this collection of "secret diaries," we follow our femme fetale, Bettie Page, as she dodges the cops, secret agents, and cult members all while trying to make a living as a model and movie star of B movies with aliens... All while helping beat the bad guys.

This book is a whole lot of cheese and I kinda love it for that. I am an absolute sucker for pin-up art and all the guest art and the comic itself is lovely to look at; even with the batshit crazy ideas. However, there's this sensation of being in a glitter bomb; shiny, pretty, but confusing in all it's bright colors and movement. At the end, I had to re-read it all because I didn't remember what exactly happened. Gotta give it a 3 out of 5 for that but it sure is pretty.

WILLA HOLLAND EXITS ARROW

Hey O&G Fans, Willa Holland (Speedy ) exits CW's Arrow. Holland has appeared on all six of Arrows seasons and was a fan favorite. Co-showrunner Marc Guggenheim told TVLine that Holland's exit was at the actor's choice.

"By the end of Season 4, Willa had expressed a desire to reduce her episodic commitment to the show and that was sort of done in sort of conjunction with an indication that it was likely that she wouldn’t want to renew her contract past Season 6," Guggenheim said. "So, we’ve kind of known for a while that this was in the offing. We revisited it with Willa at the beginning of Season 6, and she indicated that she hadn’t changed her mind, that she was still interested in moving on. Guggenheim went on to say that he and the Arrow production team worked with Holland on her exit from the show.

On Thursday's episode of Arrow, Thea left Star City in search of any remaining Lazarus Pits - with Roy (played by Colton Haaynes) accompanying her on her quest. This brings an end ( not a permanent end ) to Thea character for now, but leaves it open for her return (if she chooses to). It also creates an interesting side story that could be visited in the future.

Guggenheim went on to say that he and the Arrow production team worked with Holland on her exit from the show.

"We talked about some requests she had for us in terms of how her episodes would be utilized and grouped, and at what point in the season she would be written out, and we accommodated her on all those fronts because, look, at the end of the day we love Willa and we love working with her. She’s done right by us and so we wanted to do right by her."

The Culture: 2 Chainz - Proud

Sometimes, our favorite Hip-Hop artists do things that are so amazing and so good for the brand that I have to take time out of my day to tell someone about it.

My man 2 Chainz SNAPPED on this track and featured the most important woman in his life (which as we know, there are a couple of) his mom.

I would be remiss not to remind you of other great artists that have done similar tributes to their mothers. Kanye West and Jay-Z come to mind immediately with Hey Mama and Smile respectively.

Definitely, check this video out and let me know how you feel about it.
