At their industry panel at Sakura-Con (Seattle, Washington), Aniplex of America confirmed that they will be releasing the feature film,The irregular at magic high school THE MOVIE -The Girl Who Summons the Stars-, on Blu-ray in July. Belonging to one of the most prolific franchises within the anime community, The irregular at magic high school THE MOVIE -The Girl Who Summons the Stars- comes three years after the television series premiered with an all new story by author Tsutomu Sato. Following the U.S. premiere at Anime Expo 2017 in Los Angeles, the film was released nationwide in select theaters by Aniplex of America and Azoland Pictures. The Blu-ray will come with box illustrations by Kana Ishida (Original illustrations, Character Designer and Chief Animation Director for the film) along with subtitled trailers, and commercials, as well as collectible illustrations cards. The irregular at magic high school THE MOVIE -The Girl Who Summons the Stars- Blu-ray will be available July 10th and is currently taking pre-orders at RightStufAnime.com.
Known simply as Mahouka by its most dedicated and enthusiastic fan base, The irregular at magic high school was adapted from a light novel series, which continues to be one of the top selling light novels in Japan with over 7.7 million copies sold. The staff members of the film include Director Risako Yoshida and the above mentioned Kana Ishida, who also served as the Chief Animation Director for the Oreimo series, as the film’s Character Designer and Chief Animation Director. The music was provided by Taku Iwasaki, who is well-respected for his iconic work on many hit shows including Gurren Lagann and Black Butler, along with a theme song by GARNiDELiA (Fate/Apocrypha, KILL la KILL). Cast members include Yuichi Nakamura (Oreimo, WWW.WAGNARIA!!) as Tatsuya Shiba, Saori Hayami (anohana –The Flower We Saw That Day-, Sword Art Online) as Miyuki Shiba, Yumi Uchiyama (The Asterisk War, NISEKOI) as Erika Chiba and Sora Amamiya (ALDNOAH.ZERO, Plastic Memories) as Honoka Mitsui.
