All of Us Are Dead Review (Netflix Series)

By Sean Tucker

A group of students trapped in a high school finds themselves in dire situations as they seek to be rescued from a zombie invasion of their school.

“All of Us are Dead” is a fantastic show in the zombie horror genre. The best way I can describe this show is Train of Busan meets the anime/manga High School of The Dead without the fan service. “All of Us are Dead” is a wild, intense series of twelve episodes ranging from 60 mins to 70 mins each episode. The focus of the show is a group of High School students that are trapped inside the school when a viral outbreak takes place in school. The perspective follows two main leads Chung-san played by Yoon Chan-young and On-jo played by Park Ji-hoo. while the story centers around these two protagonists the core focus is how everyone deals with this viral outbreak. All of us are dead grips you from episode one and doesn't let go until its finale. this Netflix series it's brilliantly cast with stellar performances amazing action sequences and an emotional story arc. characters will die, alliances will be formed, alliances will be broken and this show will keep you guessing all the way through.

“All of us are Dead” has a great theme on bullying with the show taking place in a high school by illustrating various social actions through classmates. This is greatly shown when certain students are put together in order to survive. some students come from a different social class, some students are on a different popular scale, some students are smarter than others. this created some really great dynamics, character interaction, and some really great drama. While the story is well told it does fall into some typical cliches that you might find in a manga or anime. One of the tropes is the childhood friends who have feelings for each other, but can never admit it. This cliche is not the driving force of the show, but there is a hefty amount of time dedicated to two of the main leads where you're wondering are they ever going to address the elephant in the room. thankfully does zombie outbreak is the main focus of the show. all of us are dead does a great job of balancing characters and giving everyone enough screentime that you build a connection with them. It doesn't matter if it's the main lead, a supporting character, or even an extra you are going to develop a connection to these characters one way or another. while the concept of the show does have a lot of realism that are some moments in the show where you have to suspend disbelief. such moments are the kids having some very lucky close calls while in reality, they would probably be dead. this doesn't take away from the great action the series has it's just an observation.

Overall “All of us Are Dead” is another hit for Netflix as they continue to bring in quality Korean shows to the platform. This is a zombie series with heart, scares, some really intense moments and characters that you hope will all make it out okay. This is a definite must-watch show.
