Margot Robbie to star as Harley Quinn in SUICIDE SQUAD

Suicide Squad is about an antihero team of incarcerated super villains who act as deniable assets for the United States government, undertaking high-risk black ops missions in exchange for commuted prison sentences.

According to Collider, Margot Robbie is close to officially playing the popular character Harley Quinn. This is good news as I feel that this is a good casting choice. I believe she has the looks, the body, and the acting chops to pull it off.

I briefly mentioned her in my previous article as the frontrunner to play the lead of the Live action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell but subsequently replaced by Scarlett Johansson as WB had a change of heart. Now she has the opportunity to portray a beloved anti hero on the big screen. By the time Suicide Squad rolls in, she should be an established actress already with a slew of high profile movies coming out soon. We'll get the chance to see her star in the following films: Focus 2015, Z for Zachariah 2015, and Tarzan 2016.

For those who are unfamiliar with Harley Quinn's character, here's a brief description:

Harley Quinn (Dr. Harleen Frances Quinzel) is a fictional character, a super villain in the DC Universe. The character was introduced on September 11, 1992, in Batman: The Animated Series and later adapted into DC Comics' Batman comic books, first appearing in The Batman Adventures #12 (September 1993). As suggested by her name (a play on the word "harlequin"), she is clad in the manner of a traditional harlequin jester. The character is a frequent accomplice and girlfriend of Batman's nemesis the Joker, and is also close to the supervillain Poison Ivy, from whom she gained her immunity to poisons and toxins.

Suicide Squad is due out August 15, 2016 and might also star Will Smith, Tom Hardy, and Jared Leto as The Joker.
