Hardly needing any introduction, Steven Universe is the story of young half-human half-gem Steven growing up with his alien gem friends. What starts off as some lighthearted adventures becomes much more complicated and dark over time as Steven uncovers the secrets behind where the gems came from and why they’re on Earth.

Having the chance to watch this series straight through from beginning to end is a dream for a fan like me. I get to relive some of my favorite episodes and songs like “Giant Woman” and “Sadie’s Song” while skipping over some of the ones I don’t care for like “Cat Fingers.” Something about that one just creeps me out.

What sold me on this set is the inclusion of the movies. It’s great to watch them in the context of the part of the show taking place around it; since the plot in the movies does impact the events in the show. It’s convenient for them to be included.

Not only do you get to relive the fantastic journey, there is a wealth of behind-the-scenes content; including interviews, commentary, animatics, so you get the full Steven experience. Watching the series unfold and see the quality of the writing and animation grow right before your eyes is an amazing experience. We get to live in this world with these characters whenever we want and find out more about the creators and actors.

A landmark series for its beautiful music, original characters, broad representation, and some great character development, this set is a must-have for fans. This works great as a collectible to treasure, a gift, or just to watch to your heart’s content
