Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san Ep. 1 (Review)

Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san is a yuri(?) show about an attractive blonde girl named Koizumi who really likes ramen. That’s..all I can really say about it.

There are a handful of girls whose names I didn’t remember because, after 20 minutes, their role or purpose was never really given. There is a cute short haired girl who is the main girl, I guess, and her whole personality is that she is gay and finds Koizumi really quirky and attractive.

Short haired girl loves Koizumi for no reason but all Koizumi does is be brooding and give infomercial style explanations about the various types of ramen she eats. Lots of good information but the explanation cuts ruin the already dismal pace.

Normally I could get behind such a simple premise but cute girls doing cute things is an art and this show brings nothing to the table. I find it to be more egregious then Bakuon!!, the Spring 2016 cute gay girls on motorcycles show, because it managed to show off even a little personality from the jump and used familiar archetypes related to motorcycles to drive the plot.

As far as the art is concerned, the character designs are cute and serviceable. The green haired girl is the cutest for me but i’ve seen red haired girl be hotly spoken for as well. (Not that it matters because the characters are so inconsequential that I didn’t bother remembering their names.)

That, coupled with the fact that the ramen and related dishes don’t even look that delicious compared to its contemporaries such as “Shokugeki no Soma” or “Restaurant to Another World”, it makes me wonder why this show was made at all?

The opening is pretty catchy though!

But at the end of the day, the show is not beautiful, it’s not different, it’s not even sexy AND the plot is pretty thin.

Not a great episode one and I probably won’t watch an episode two.
