Ghostbusters Deviations (Comic Review)

In a world, where on that fateful day in New York, the Ghostbusters did NOT cross streams, and were thus unable to destroy Gozer or close his portal. Now, 31 days later, NYC has descended into chaos and ruin, ruled with the deliciously soft fist of… THE STAY-PUFT MARSHMALLOW MAN!

What would happen to New York City if the Ghostbusters did not cross the streams that faithful night? Ghostbusters Deviations answered that question in a brand new one shot comic. In fear of causing a total protonic reversal and ending all life as we know it. The Ghostbusters did not cross the streams and Gozer in Stay Puft form is left to reign in New York City. Stay Puft Gozer is terrorizing Manhattan eating people, leaving his delicious marshmallows droppings all over the city. The Ghostbusters naturally are being blamed for the actions of Gozers. The city is in complete chaos people business, apartments are being destroyed and the Ghostbusters have no plan to save the day. As time continues to pass and the city gets restless and even morale within the team. When things are looking at it's darkest with ghost all over the city and Gozer still eating people. The Ghostbusters get help from the most unlikely ally. That ally turns out to be Gozer who is actually tired of being a marshallow man and seeks the Ghostbusters for help.

I did enjoy this one shot story but I did have a few problems with the ending. The story is well written and packs the humor that you expect from the Ghostbusters. I did enjoy the concept of what would have happen if they never cross the streams. From the beginning to the middle of the story it hit all the right beats. New Yorkers are upset, the Ghostbusters feel guilty and defeated and Gozer is causing chaos. It's towards the end when Gozer asks for help that it began to lose me. Gozer became a comedy relief for the book instead of a threat. Even though this was a what if scenario it still didn't do it for me. The Ghostbusters even make a joke about how anti climatic the resolve of the plot was. The book started off strong but then it was plague by coincidences that help the plot along.  The art style is great and the story has some legit laughs but the ending and how the problem was resolve fell flat for me.
