BATMAN'S ARSENAL: An Unauthorized Encyclopedic Chronicle (Review)

BATMAN'S ARSENAL: An Unauthorized Encyclopedic Chronicle, by MATT MACNABB,  documents the entire scope and history of Batman's incredible crime-fighting tools from the famous cowl, the awesome Batmobile, the catacomb-like Batcave to the tank-like Tumbler - the unique weapons Batman employs to keep Gotham safe. It is really his equipment and unique gizmos that not only define him but also transform him into a superhero. After all, he's one of the very few superheroes who's as human as the rest of us.

If you’re a fan of The Dark Knight this is one good read to check out. Batman Arsenal: An Unauthorized Encyclopedic Chronicle goes into the great details on the weapons that The Dark Knight uses. The first chapter is the Batmobile and it is one of the most detail breakdowns I’ve read on the Batmobile in a long time. Author Matt Macnabb really did his homework on this project. He details every single Batmobile the influences, the impact and even the science of each one. Macnabb touches the Batmobile from the golden age, silver age, the 52 and New 52 and even the Batmobiles from the movies from Batman all the way to Batman V Superman. However while a big chunk focus on the Batmobile in great detail. Macnabb also focuses on other Bat vehicles such as his tools in the air and in the sea. This book is packed with so much information that I couldn’t put it down. I was amazed that Macnabb also mention The BatGyro which was Batman’s first form of flight during the golden age of comics. Every single vehicle, every weapon such as the Batarang is detail from the shaped, the power it wields and even the psychology behind the tools.

This is a very detail book and if you’re a Batman this is worthy of adding to your collection. The book is packed with 456 pages of information and fun facts that I didn’t even know.  I appreciate Matt Macnabb writing style. While the book is in the information /encyclopedic format you never feel bored reading it. Every sentence and page is filled with fun facts and information on The Dark Knight that I found myself reading old comics, going back to watch old films just to see if I can spot what Macnabb had pointed out. The book also includes a  great preface from Adam West and a wonderful written introduction by Macnabb himself you will appreciate all this book has to offer.
