A Few Reasons Why You Should Be Reading Dead Tube

I have read a lot of manga that had me saying oh my goodness. For a while I haven't really been reading any manga that had given me that feeling. However I'm proud to say I have finally found a manga, that not only has me saying oh my goodness but also has me completely hooked. Before I begin and confess my undying love for "Dead Tube." I want to warn my readers that is manga is not for the faint of heart. This manga is twisted, sick, sadistic and really is not for politically correct people. Now what is "Dead Tube" you might be asking?  Read the synopsis below:

"Dead Tube is a video hosting website called DEAD Tube that loves sex and murder going hand in hand, where users can watch these orgies of violence and are encouraged to film pieces of their own; they will get paid for it, the more popular the video is, higher the fee will be."

Reason 1: Dead Tube's  Concept Is Well Executed

The concept of a website where people receive money for acts of sex, murder and other violent acts is executed well.  "Dead Tube" takes this sick world and puts you in the eyes of Machiya Tomohiro who is a student who is filming for his film class. One day he is approach by another student named Mashiro Mai. Mai is a beautiful girl from the swim team. She asks Machiya if he would film for 48 hours under two conditions. First condition is that Machiya will be the only one filming her. The second condition is that he doesn't stop filming no what happens. For the sake of spoilers I won't go into details on what happens next. I will say that Machiya is introduced into the sick world of Dead Tube.

The premise of Dead Tube might not be too original. I'm pretty sure someone else made a story similar to this. However the way the characters are introduce, the way the world is presented and  the way the world is dark and twisted like it's just a normal day really kept me reading. The manga does have sex, it does have murder but it's not just random acts like other manga's. Almost every kill, every murder, every sick act has a point towards the story. Machiya reactions and how he deals with this world that he is introduced too is great. I wasn't expecting the type of reaction that he gave. Mai is one of the sickest character's I have come across in a long time. She is sweet but when she gets vicious she really gets vicious. I love the relationship her and Machiya have. It's the type of relationship of the devil trying to seduce you to the darkside of life. It makes for a great read and with only 12 chapters in I'm really waiting for the next installment.

Reason 2: The Social Commentary on Social Media

Maybe I' am reading too much into this. However I believe Dead Tube depicts an extreme depiction on how people are today on social media. Everybody who participates in Dead Tube are always trying to get the most likes, most fanbase and most money out of their videos. It's no different than the attention seeking people we all encountered on social media. We all have that one friend that will post selfie after selfie, do a tease picture revealing a body part or post how good their life is to get a sense false of validation from the masses. You see a bit of this with the participants when they videos drop they try to think of the next best thing to get back on top. A lot of the reasons is the fee that Dead Tube inflicts on you if you have to pay if your content and audience drops. However for some characters they need the likes, they need the fanbase for some type of validation.  I think Dead Tube presents that very well.

Final Reason: Intensity

Dead Tube is one intense manga. Every issue I'm always at the edge of my seat wondering what is going to happen next. Each character is a great study on what makes them participate in this sick world. The writing is well done and the level of who's next and the fact that anybody can die is great. Check out Dead Tube.
