Introducing Star Trek Enemies: The Gorn

PARAMOUNT PICTURES AND NAMCO BANDAI GAMES REVEAL
VILLAINS IN NEW STAR TREK™ VIDEO GAME
AT ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT EXPO 2012
Legendary Lizard-like “Gorn” Set to Battle Kirk and Spock in Ultimate Co-op Gaming Experience
Scheduled to Release in Early 2013
LOS ANGELES, CA (June 5, 2012) – Paramount Pictures and leading video game publisher and developer NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. today gave fans the first look at the key villain to be featured in the upcoming Star Trek™ video game inspired by J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek (2009) film reboot. The announcement made at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), revealed that a legendary lizard-like race known in Trek lore as “The Gorn” will play the destructive and villainous role in the video game releasing in early 2013. The co-op game is based on a standalone storyline that continues the adventure of iconic characters Captain James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock as they work together to stop the Gorn, an enemy race bent on conquering the galaxy.
“The Gorn are among the most iconic villians in the Star Trek universe and their role in this game certainly lives up to that persona,” said Brian Miller, Senior Vice President at Paramount Pictures and Lead Game Producer.  “Kirk and Spock find themselves in an incredibly challenging amount of mayhem as they confront the Gorn throughout the game.”
More than just lizard-skinned foes, the Gorn are a blood-thirsty race determined to conquer the galaxy. A true military dictatorship, the Gorn are made up of billions of self-sacrificing warriors across thousands of colonies, each focused on the conquest of alien races. By utilizing their chaos-causing infectious venom, the Gorn seed mayhem and destruction as they destroy populations and deplete planets of their resources.
"Great villains give our favorite characters a chance to become heroes in the process of attempting to eliminate a powerful threat, and Star Trek fans have been eagerly anticipating the moment when the antagonists of the game would be revealed," said Carlson Choi, VP of Marketing at NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. “This is one of those moments and we couldn’t be more excited to give gamers a glimpse at the challenges that lie ahead for Kirk and Spock.”
The Gorn range in size and abilities, infecting their foes with venom that can poison, cause hallucinations, and even kill. From the smaller infantry Gorn Rushers, to the larger Gorn Warriors and the massive Gorn Brutes, the Gorn provides a serious direct threat, while the wall-climbing Gorn females showcase the cunning for which this race is feared. Technologically capable and possessing the antithesis of Federation ideals, the Gorn pose a devastating threat to Starfleet, the Enterprise, and its crew.
With a storyline occurring after the events of J.J. Abram’s 2009 Star Trek reboot, the Star Trek video game puts players in the shoes of seminal heroes Captain James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock, inviting them to work together to take on the ferocious Gorn in this epic action adventure.  Built from the ground up as the ultimate co-op experience, players are set on a journey of immense proportions across unexplored planets and enemy battleships with the latest 23rd century weapons and gear. Kirk and Spock’s complementary personalities result in the most fully realized and varied co-op experience for this console generation.
Under a license from CBS Consumer Products, the game is being developed by Ontario-based developer Digital Extremes (Bioshock 2, Unreal Tournament, Dark Sector, The Darkness II) with production being overseen by Paramount Pictures and a scheduled release in early 2013 for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC.
Attendees of E3 at the Los Angeles Convention Center June 5-7 can see a live demonstration of the Star Trek game and take photos in the Enterprise captain’s chair at the NAMCO BANDAI Games Booth # 1637 (located in the South Hall).

VIZ Media’s Haikasoru imprint brings the high octane futuristic military action of Metal Gear Solid to North American readers with the release of METAL GEAR SOLID: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS, a brand new fiction title by the late Japanese science fiction author, Keikaku (Project) Itoh. The forthcoming novel, which is inspired by the massively successful videogame franchise, hits retailers on June 19th with an MSRP of $15.99 U.S. / $18.99 CAN. An eBook edition will also be available for the Amazon Kindle, Apple’s iBooks Store, the Barnes & Noble’s Nook Books Store, and the Sony Reader™ Store.

Haikasoru publishes some of the most compelling contemporary Japanese science fiction and fantasy stories for English-speaking audiences, and is the first imprint based in the U.S. dedicated to Japanese science fiction and fantasy in translation.

METAL GEAR SOLID: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS delivers the latest bullet-ridden adventures of Solid Snake, a crack soldier who is part of a worldwide nanotechnology network known as the Sons of the Patriots. Time is running out for Snake though, as he will soon succumb to the FOXDIE virus, but not before spreading the disease to nearly everyone he encounters, in essence becoming a walking biological weapon. Snake will need every advantage he can get, as the SOP network is about to be hacked by his old enemy Liquid Ocelot, and whoever controls SOP controls the world.

“2012 marks the 25th Anniversary of the Metal Gear Solid videogame franchise and we’re very excited to mark the occasion with the release of this novel,” says Nick Mamatas, Editor, Haikasoru. “GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS is also far more than simply a prose version of the videogame; it goes into great detail in its explorations of the characters and of the plot’s connection to previous games, realistically filling out the ‘world’ of Metal Gear Solid. This book also features an essay by Metal Gear Solid game creator, Hideo Kojima, who was a personal friend of Itoh’s. Videogame and military fans, as well as sci-fi readers and action aficionados, will want to be sure to pick up this new release!”

Metal Gear Solid: Guns of the Patriots sold more than 5,000,000 copies in 2009 and garnered tremendous international acclaim. The game, which was developed by Konami for Sony’s Playstation platform, is part of a multi-million dollar global franchise that originated in Japan. In addition to the videogames, the Metal Gear Solid franchise has spawned a variety of related comics, American novelizations, collectable figures. The property’s latest videogame chapter, METAL GEAR SOLID: RISING, is scheduled for release in the Fall of 2012.

Keikaku (Project) Itoh was born in Tokyo in 1974 and graduated from the Musashino Art University. In 2007, he debuted with Genocidal Organs, and took first prize of the “Best SF of 2007” in SF Magazine. He is also the author of HARMONY (published in North America by Haikasoru 2010), which won the Japan SF and Seiun Awards in Japan and was nominated for the Philip K. Dick Award in the U.S. After a long battle with cancer, Itoh passed away in March 2009. The ending of the 2010 Sony PSP gameMetal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, was dedicated to him.

Warner Bros. Makes Justice League Plans

Warner Bros. is making some plans towards the long-awaited    Justice League feature film as Variety reports that Gangster Squad screenwriter Will Beall has been brought aboard to provide the screenplay.

Details at this point are currently few, but the enormous success of Marvel's The Avengers no doubt helped pave the way for getting the Distinguished Competition's superhero ensemble a shot at the silver screen.

What remains to be seen is whether or not Warner's film will use any of their standalone superhero projects as jumping off points, building a cohesive cinematic universe the way that Marvel has. It's been hinted that Christopher Nolan's upcoming The Dark Knight Rises will feature a definitive ending for the current version of the big screen Batman character, though Christian Bale has recently suggested that he's not entirely against the notion of further adventures in the cape and cowl.

Next summer's Man of Steel, however, marks a more likely contender to launch an ongoing big screen universe and it's entirely possible that, despite a disappointing box office, last summer's take on Green Lantern couldn't be brought back.

The other possibility is that Warner Bros. might start from scratch, as was the plan several years ago when George Miller was attached to direct a motion-capture Justice League feature.

Pikmin 3

Pikmin 3 will have new a Pikmin the rock type, they will have a hard body great for throwing. The Wii U pad will show the game map and you can use it for moving the map around on the big screen to do other things

Wii U Details

Wii u comes with with stylus, built in rumble, gyroscope and headphone jack, sadly no idea on the price or release date for USA or Japan. Wii U looks like it will be black and white it looks like. It will not need a tv to play with it but am thinking that will be different depending on the game.

Miiverse

Miiverse can send random messages or drawing with other people, show stats and faces. It feels like a big social network but again need more info on it because if they can make it something like Facebook, easy to connect to other people but will have to wait and see

Super Mario Bros U

Will have social features allowing you to talk to other player by leaving icons on the world map that will have messages on them for a person to read that can be what ever the person wants to say about the level. Boost mode will be for people that want to use the Wii U controller in addition to a normal controller. the Wii U will allow that player to place blocks on screen to help the one playing in the game.

Batman Arkham City Armored Edition

Batman Arkham City will be coming to the Wii u. It will be called Batman Arkham City Armored Edition. You will get armored skins of Batman and Cat-Women also you can use gadgets like the batarang but controlling them through the Wii u controller it looks like it will be just like whats already out but hopefully there will be more.

Scribblenauts unlimited

Will be on the Wii U in HD and on the 3DS. It looks like it would be great puzzler with some co-op elements.

sing(working title)

its a singing game like sing star. So far nothing really amazing about it but looks like it would be great for parties will keep an eye out for that.

3DS

new super Mario 3ds august 19th
new paper Mario sticker star on the 3ds uses stickers to help in battle and in the world
new Luigi mansions on the 3ds

Lego city undercover

which is a new Lego game that plays out in an open world where your a detective and there wasn't much said about it fully but the controller screens is shown using

Nintendo Land

Now this I think is like Nintendos version of Playstation Home which isn't bad. This would show that Nintendo is trying to get into online networks like how Playstation and Xbox live is currently. To begin with it acts like a hub to other online games mainly looking at animal crossing and other smaller games with a co-op or competitive games. It wont be ready and out at the same time the Wii U launches. That's all I know about it right now.

First we're going to start with Halo 4 unveiled at the start of the conference. This story begins with an advanced Spaceship meant to be used to explore new areas of Space, but Ship is somehow disabled and crash lands on a nearby Planet. Master Chief is on the planet where ship crashes and sets out to investigate the crash. Master Chief not only encounter's old enemies (Covenant), but discovers a new one.

Key Features
1. The Reclaimer Saga Begins: Experience the dawn of an epic new Halo adventure, solo or split screen with up to three friends.
2. Go Beyond the Story: Halo 4's Infinity Multiplayer features a vastly expanded suite of multiplayer modes, weapons, vehicles, armor abilities, a new loadout and Spartan IV player progression system.
3. Edge-of-your-seat Entertainment: Immerse yourself in Halo 4's graphics, sound and epic game play including a mysterious and deadly new class of enemies.*

Jeff's Opinion: The environment looks good, It seems to be a Jungle environment. After you kill one of the New enemies you pick up his weapon. the rifle looks pretty cool and fun. The new alien enemies look good also, new bot like aliens. It looks like you can still only hold two weapons at a time. Halo 4 looks good, but it feels like all the other previous games. I would like to see more to give a better opinion.

developer: 343 industries
publisher: microsoft
genre: shooter
release date: 11/6/2012
console: Xbox 360

Splinter Cell: Black List. The events of the game pick up after 2010’s Splinter Cell: Conviction, with the stealthy super soldier pursuing a terrorist organization with a mysterious black list of targets, set on the Iraq/Iran border.
Jeff Opinion: The game look freaking SWEET! The New tag and Kill system is great and the new voice command system through the Kinect is a hot feature. Spy vs. Mercs competitive multiplayer returns, and there's a cooperative mode as well. The game is due spring 2013.

Tomb Raider: The first  game footage of the game that aired at E3 last year. A bruised and battered Lara is seen hanging upside down in an underground cave trying to free herself. Once she falls to the ground, there's a series of explosions and she eventually makes her way out, only to find a massive shipwreck. This year at E3 they debut some new footage and game play.  Lara is alone on an island after being shipwrecked and is surrounded by lush foliage. In terms of weaponry used, Lara retrieves a bow from a dead person and the next thing we know, she kills a deer to fend for food. Other weapons include guns, pistols and knives which appear later.

Other Games announced at their Conference were Fable The new journey and Ascend  the New Gods. Both look good, but I was never that interested in the previous Fable games.
Hey Guys Sean ( The Comic Guy ) . Today I’m going to talk about Madden 2013 and Nike plus using Kinect. Xbox unveiled at the E3 conference how the Kinect will interact with both games.

First I’m going to start with Madden 2013 using the Kinect. I have to say Xbox 360 has done a great job with the interaction between the user and the game. For example you can voice the play you want to run as oppose to selecting it with the controller. It looks as if  Kinect will Make the Madden experience little more fun for the die hard Football fans.

Xbox also unveiled a new fitness game. Microsoft Corp. and NIKE Inc. ushered in a new era of home fitness, unveiling “Nike+ Kinect Training” only on Kinect for Xbox 360. Featuring Nike trainers who work with some of the company’s top athletes, “Nike+ Kinect Training” is customized to your level.  The game will track your progress and show you the data from your workout. You can even compare your data to that of your favorite Athlete.

Finally to wrap things up Resident Evil 6 and Black Ops 2 look amazing. Resident Evil continues the Game play we love started in part 4, along with bringing back Leon. The story mode for Black Ops 2 Looks great and the game play looks like it will be as challenging as the first one.

Other Feature:
New xbox features allow you to connect different devices which allows you to take the movies you were watching on xbox and continue watching where you left off on your tablet or smart phone. It will also tell you info on what your watching for a deeper movie experience . They are unveiling their   dual screen viewing called Xbox Smart glass. Internet explorer is now coming to Xbox with the help of Xbox Smart Glass and Kinect.

Overall XBOX had a pretty good showing to start off E3.

DC Outs Alan Scott In Upcoming Issue Earth 2 No.2

Sean ( The Comic Guy ) here and if you guessed that DC Comics would have chosen Alan Scott to come out the closet? Then you were right! ( cause I didn't! Damn you DC!! )  DC comics announced this morning that the coming issue of “Earth 2″ No. 2 will feature Alan Scott, a gay man who also happens to be the superhero Green Lantern on an alternate version of Earth.

According to a statement from DC Comics “Alan’s storyline is a direct result of DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 and DC’s commitment to taking a fresh look at its characters.”  The new Earth 2 series  by writer James Robinson and artist Nicola Scott, are putting a new spin on Alan Scott the original Green Lantern introduced in the 1940's

Marvel's superhero character Northstar is set to marry his long time boyfriend in Astonishing X-Men #50. DC went a different direction by outing an established character. Both story lines seem like they will keep readers interested, so let's see how this will turn out for both brands.

Here is a preview of DC's upcoming issue:

X-Men First Class Sequel Sets Summer 2014 Release Date

X-Men: First Class was one of the more rushed blockbuster productions in recent memory, with Matthew Vaughn signing on as director in May of 2010, just 13 months before the June 2011 release. Miraculously, it actually turned out pretty well, earning strong reviews, a whole lot of money, and of course, the inevitable plans for a sequel.

As rushed as they were to make the first one, though, 20th Century Fox has been taking their time putting together the First Class sequel, and in early April they announced they'd wait even longer, starting production in January of next year to accommodate the schedule of star Jennifer Lawrence, who will be shooting the Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire this fall. Now, as you might guess, Fox has finally set a release date for the still-untitled film, but it's giving them a little more time to finish it this time around. The update at Box Office Mojo says the First Class sequel will come to theaters July 18, 2014, giving returning director Vaughn a much more reasonable 18 months from the start of production to release.

We don't know a whole lot else about the film, except that it will focus even further on the development of Magneto (Michael Fassbender) as the villain, and that other stars like James McAvoy, Zoe Kravitz, Rose Byrne and Nicholas Hoult are all likely to reprise their roles. With production not starting until next year it will probably be a while before we hear more casting information or any more plot details, but now at least we can know it'll be 2014 before we should start looking forward to actually seeing it.

Paris, 1933. Europe is still in the grip of feudalism, sorcerers stalk the streets at night, and secret societies vie for power. When a medieval scroll disappears from a Paris church, Dr. Julien Saunière begins uncovering a series of horrific ritual murders connected to the Catholic Church. Rex Mundi is the tale of a quest for the Holy Grail told as a murder mystery, set in a world where magic is real and the Catholic Church never lost its grip on power.
“I’m thrilled Dark Horse is making Rex Mundi available in an omnibus format—it’s the way it was always meant to be read! Miss MegaMan? Check Out These OC ReMixes

Hey people. Did you know that this year Mega Man and Street Fighter will be 25 years old and that Capcom will have an anniversary box set for Street Fighters 25th. This is a great thing for Street Fighter because Capcom is releasing a huge 25th Anniversary for that series.

This is the box set:

In case you don't know, the box set contains:

  • Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix
  • Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition
  • Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition (and all its DLC)
  • Street Fighter X Tekken (and all its DLC)
  • A documentary
  • two anime movies
  • The full Street Fighter animated series(which one I don't know)
  • Eleven discs of music
  • Art book
  • and a freaking light up Ryu statue doing a blue shoryuken

All this for Street Fighters anniversary this September for $150 Dollars.

After seeing all that am thinking to myself "Damn this is sweet as hell, but what does MegaMan get for his 25th?"  Most All of the games were canceled and then he's made into a joke character in their newest fighting game as "ON DISC DLC." I remember a day when MegaMan was not only as well known as Sonic and Mario but the series stood tall and just as great as those two.

With nothing being known for whats going on with the MegaMan 25th Anniversary, I will point you guys over to OverClocked Remix and show you what some fans of the series have made for their love of all things Mega Man and his journey.

This first one is mainly about Mega Man 9 and it's totally sweet being made of full remixes of tracks and tunes from that game from stages to the bosses.

This second one is the Robot Museum, it's all about the bosses and remaking their themes. It's a very sweet collection that spans most of all the MegaMan games and nope it doesn't use the same tracks like the last one. All brand new tracks.

This is the last one and it's a biggie have the most albums and covering all of MegaMan X from X to X7. It also got special mash-up/Vs tracks. To put it simply this is the biggest one out of all the collection.
Side-note the Vs ones almost always come in two versions, example: Awesome Electrified (Spark Mandrill vs. Boomer Kuwanger) and then there is Shocking Heights (Boomer Kuwanger vs. Spark Mandrill) but they are two different songs.

In all these albums are totally awesome and more importantly free and legit torrents. So it seems like these guys have done more for MegaMan then Capcom but who knows, Capcom has till December of this year to do something but it seems unlikely.

I really hate saying that.

Batman: Arkham City "Harley Quinn's Revenge" Review

One of the best Batman games till this date, is back with a brand new story driven DLC entitled "Harley Quinn's Revenge." Is this the DLC we deserved? Or is this the DLC we don't need right now? Warning this review contains SPOILERS! Do not read if you haven't finish the main story of "Arkham City."

The story takes a place a few weeks after Arkham City. The Joker is dead, and Batman is not really taking it too well. He goes back to Arkham City after Harley and her goons take some GPD hostage. After Batman doesn't return, Oracle gets worried and sends Robin to investigate. The story is good, but leaves a lot of questions. Does Batman feel regret for the death of The Joker? Is The Joker really dead? What about Harley's child? Unfortunately the closure many were looking for will not happen. You'll have to wait for the next game to get the answers. Truthfully the gameplay is the same, nothing has change. If you played Arkham City, then you will feel right at home. You play as Batman and Robin, mainly Robin throughout the story. Robin does have some different equipment from Batman, he is able to shield himself from bullets, carries a staff for an arsenal. The free flow combat is still as smooth as ever, and a couple of puzzles in this DLC, but nothing really hard. There is some Easter eggs, which I won't spoil and conversations with the crooks that really make you say hmmm. Overall the gameplay is the same, and the final boss is a nice surprise. Expect to spend 1 to 2 hours on the DLC. It's a nice epilogue to Arkham City, that raises some questions. At the price tag of 10 bucks I would say wait till it goes on sell, it's quick, fun but really doesn't offer too much. It's still a good DLC and it's cool to finally play as Robin in a story mode, but other than that it's a one trip deal.

Final Grade B+/8.5

G.I. Joe Retaliation Delay Due To Storyline Change?

Was there another reason for the mind-boggling delay of sequel, G.I. Joe: Retaliation?

The recent announcement that the film, originally-slated for June 29 would be shifted to March 29, 2013 was originally attributed to Paramount's desire to convert the film to 3D. While that reason still remains solid, there was apparently another reason, and it has to do with returning star, Channing Tatum, who plays Duke.
It seems that the way the character was handled this time around, along with his fate, left test audiences not feeling so "Yo Joe!" about the film.

Warning: Spoileriffic Material Below!
As far as the 3D conversion goes, an insider tells Deadline that it will only add $5 million more to the film's $125 million budget. (I'm guessing they're getting it done at Walmart?) However, it appears that this huge gamble may not be just to add an extra dimension, but to change the context of the film itself.

It's certainly no secret that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's character of Roadblock has been the most prominent part of the hype surrounding the film. One might have thought that the spotlight had shifted from Channing Tatum's Duke, who was the main protagonist in 2009's The Rise of Cobra. However, his return was intended to be brief and after a few scenes where Duke passes the proverbial baton to Roadblock, Duke was reportedly killed-off.
However, a lot has happened since that was decided; namely the rising star of Channing Tatum. With hits like The Vow, Haywire, 21 Jump Street, and the upcoming Magic Mike, he is a now bankable commodity. Thus, more scenes with Tatum and Johnson have been shot (perhaps with more on tap?) to possibly nix Duke's death, but, more importantly, put more Duke in the film, creating a tighter "buddy" dynamic with Roadblock, similar to the one he had with Marlon Wayans' Ripcord in the first film.

It's a similar situation to an attempt to kill Duke off in the cartoon series back in 1987 in G.I. Joe: The Movie. The character was not originally supposed to survive being impaled by a snake spear from villain, Serpentor. However, in much the same way, it seems that outside forces could be taking the grinning First-Sergeant off the chopping block.

There were no doubt other reasons for the delay, namely the shellacking that some big-budget monsters like John Carter and Battleship have been taking at the box-office. With summer 2012 looking to provide some of the toughest competition ever, no doubt, this was a reprieve from a potentially-similar box-office disaster.

Nevertheless, the delay has left fans befuddled, and even director, Jon Chu was allegedly left "shellshocked." (I'm not sure if that's a pun.)
