Cyanide & Happiness At New York Comic Con
/The Voltron Interview
/OtakusandGeeks.com: Let's talk about the game first. Peter can you tell us about the gameplay?
Peter Armstrong: It's all about co-oop. The story starts out from the very beginning of Voltron all the way to the end. You play in five different styles of gameplay, you start off in lion mode and pick your favorite lion. You play up to with four other people, five people online, two people for offline. If your lion is damage, you get ejected and enter survival mode, so you'll be on your feet until your lion is healed, so you'll get to play as the pilot as well. In lion mode it's a twin stick shooter, there is a lot of melee in the aspect of the gameplay.
OtakusandGeeks.com: How will the co-oop work when we form Voltron? Will just get on headsets and tell the other players?
Peter Armstrong: *Laughs* that was actually tricky. It work as quick time events that you execute together. Once you form Voltron each player will get a chance to choose what attack Voltron will use, while the other players will support how powerful the attack is. For example if you wanted to fire a rocket, you will choose that using the left stick. The other players will then use their sticks to determine the target and see how big the damage will be. It's the same way defending, everything will be timing, so it will be up the players to be in sync with each other. We're really giving you that Voltron experience.
Voltron Game Trailer
OtakusandGeeks.com: How long is the game and how much will it cost?
Peter Armstrong: It depends on who your playing with, but the game last about 7 hours. It will cost ten dollars.
OtakusandGeeks.com: Are the original voice actors back?
Peter Armstrong: Yes the original voice actors are back, and when you pause the game Peter Cullen will say Voltron will be back after these brief messages, when you unpause the game Peter Cullen will say we're now back to Voltron. We're making show it really feels like the show.
OtakusandGeeks.com: Robert tell us about Voltron Force, for those who might not know about it.
Robert Koplar: Voltron Force is a animated series which airs on Nicktoons. It's a mixture of 2D/3D animation. From a creative standpoint, we have brought three new cadets Daniel, Vince and Larmina, basically to introduce Voltron to a new generation. The classic Voltron force was teenagers, we aged them up a bit, it's been a nice device to introduce these new cadets and still keep the core Voltron force. It was a good way to reboot the franchise, without doing a full Voltron reboot. The new episodes will air in November.
OtakusandGeeks.com: What were some of the challenges of introducing Voltron to a new generation?
Robert Koplar: Wow a lot of challenges. We went through many ideas. We had an idea called Voltron Pantera Force, which would've had some aliens on the force. Then we decided to just stick with the characters that got us here. The other challenge was format should we stick with 2D, or go with a CGI show, or a blend of the two, which we ended up doing. Also how can we improve on a classic. We took some risk and it's been great.
OtakusandGeeks.com: When will the new Voltron Force toys be out?
Robert Koplar: The new toys should be out September 2012.
Jeremy Corray: This is a real cool toy, you guys are adults now and have credit cards, no more asking big brother or that guy name Greg at the playground to play with his toy.
OtakusandGeeks.com: Jeremy did you guys, decide to come back with Voltron in full force?
Jeremy Corray: You know it's funny I would read some comments like hey Transformers is back, lets bring Voltron backs *laughs.* It's actually a family company out of St. Louis Missouri, and we're purely going off from the momentum from you the fans. What you see what is happening is that kids who grew up watching, are making the new Voltron it happen. Keith Dawkins the President of Nicktoons, is a die hard Voltron fan. The love of Voltron is so intense, it's back and the people are loving it.
OtakusandGeeks.com: Princess Allura and Keith what is the deal?
Jeremy Corray: I will let you know that we put a lot of good stuff, that will let the fans flip. It's always characters first, w Allura will be interesting and she has responsibility. What will happen when she has to balance? The Queen might need a King, who knows.

Robotech Panel: New York Comic Con 2011
/Will Robotech have a live action movie?
Harmony Gold: Yes, Warner Bros have the license, but we want to put out a good story worthy of the Robotech franchise.
Will there be another Robotech game, we haven't had one since Battlecry?
Harmony Gold: Warner Bros has the license for the game, we'll try to get another game someday.
Will the new Robotech animated film have the descendants of Rick Hunter and Max Sterling?
Harmony Gold: *Laughs* maybe.
That was just some of the question's asked. Prizes was given away and then we got a few clips from the Robotech Documentary. The Robotech Documentary main focus is on Carl Macek and how much he influence, and responsible for Robotech in the USA. The voice actors from the show, talk about their interactions with Carl, and how passionate he was about Robotech. The clip shown was very moving, and it really made you want to see more. It was great to see all the voice actors talk about their experiences filming for the show. Once the clips were done, we got a decent teaser of the new Robotech: Animated Movie. The animation is similar to that of Shadow Chronicles, and is taking place in the same universe. The trailer only show shots of a battle, an explosion and a pilot who we can't really guess who it is. The new movie should be finish next year, and the title will be revealed by the end of the year. Overall it was a good panel and showed a lot of what Robotech Anniversary Boxset will offer, like the untold story movie, and bunch of other stuff.

/KEY OF Z Review
/Key Of Z
Story: The zombie apocalypse has transformed New York City into a city of the dead. Two warring gangs have made their homes in two of NYC most famous baseball stadiums. Nick Ewing is left to survive while seeking revenge on those responsible for the death of his family.
Review: Key Of Z is awesome. The first issue was a great read with all the gore you expect from a Zombie comic. I'm looking forward to finding out what happened to Nick Ewing's Family and what's the deal with that harmonica? If you like the Walking Dead, this comic is definitely a good pick to add to your collection.

Interview With Ashley Eckstein
/OtakusandGeeks.com: How did you start Her Universe?
Ashley Eckstein: It really started because selfishly I wanted more Sci-Fi products made for women. I'm a fan girl myself, and I only had one Star Wars shirt, my husband had ten. I said something is wrong there, because I'm the bigger fan. I then went to the internet and did research and found out that female merchandise was close to non existent. I also found that close to half of Sci-Fi fans are women, and they wasn't really giving anything for us to buy. So that's when I founded "Her Universe." I went to Lucas Film and said give me a shot to design some of your female merchandise. I have to give Lucas Film credit they we're the first company to give me a chance. Of course Syfy as well they're really excited as well.
OtakusandGeeks.com: What's the goal for "Her Universe?"
Ashley Eckstein: The goal is to make girls geek cheek from head to toe. We're just been around a year and a half and added two more licenses, which I'm excited about. "Her Universe" is not only a merchandise line, it's also a community for female fans. I wanted to create a safe place for women to come and join conversation no matter what they love, whether it's Star Wars, Battlestar Galatica, Doctor Who, Star Trek, even Disney. We have many girls who have create have build strong friendships through our site, Facebook and Twitter. That was the goal from the beginning.
OtakusandGeeks.com: How does it feel to be a Jedi?
Ashley Eckstein: It's amazing, very humbling. Never in a million years did I think I would have this opportunity. Also sometimes I feel like I have a lot of training to do, to fill Ahsoka shoes I'm not quite as tough as she is but I'm trying *laughs*. It's a dream come true, life changing, being part of the Star Wars franchise really changes your life. It opens you up to an entire group of people that welcomes you with open arms. It's just very humbling. I feel like I just didn't gain a role, but an army of people who will have a my back.
OtakusandGeeks.com: Do you have a favorite design that you did for "Her Universe"?
Ashley Eckstein: That is a tough one, that decision is like a Mom choosing between her kids *laughs.* There is a story behind every design. The one special to me will be the crystal hats. They were all glue by hand, crystal by crystal. Before I founded "Her Universe" I would bedazzle hats and give them out to friends. The crystal hats would be onre close to me, since it was of the first products for "Her Universe."
OtakusandGeeks.com: Any plans "Her Universe" will be in stores?
Ashley Eckstein: Right now it's avaialble at "Her Universe." Hopefully it will be in more stores by next year, Disney just picked us up for their parks. Between Disney and our website and hopefully in stores in 2012.
OtakusandGeeks.com: Any hints you can give us with the next season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars?
Ashley Eckstein: It's called season four Battlelines, it's very action pack. Ahsoka discovers more emotion around her age, she gets to act her age for once since she is around adults most of the time. She will be interacting with certain characters again, but that's all I will say.
OtakusandGeeks.com: How much of Ahsoka is from your input, and how much is organic is from the writing?
Ashley Eckstein: As an actress it makes your job easier, if you got great writing. Our writing staff is amazing. One thing from the very beginning, and this was even part of the reason I was cast. I was cast because I messed up in my audition, the way I acted between takes I was beaten myself up because I messed up. That was similar to Ahsoka or what they had in mind, because she is a Padawan and she is trying so hard to meet their expectations, and to be the best Padawan she can be, they actually cast me more for how I acted in between takes. They said be yourself and bring a lot of your personality into it, I've been grateful to be allow to put a little input.
OtakusandGeeks.com: Any final words?
Ashley Eckstein: Thank you all for your support. Her Universe is more than a merchandise brand, it's a community of female fans, we're just trying to debunk the stereotype the Sci-Fi is just for guys. Sci-Fi is for everyone, and the more we speak up and say the women are here and we love, we can debunk the stereotype. Once again thanks for all your support.
