Vertical Comics + Kodansha Advanced Media announce new digital editions of Vertical Comics titles, constituting 24 previously digitally uncollected volumes, to be distributed through comiXology, iBooks, Kindle, Kobo, and nook.

Vertical Comics, working in conjunction with Kodansha Advanced Media, will see more digital releases this holiday season. Previously digitally uncollected series Ajin: Demi-Human , The Flowers of Evil, andWitchcraft Works will make their digital book debuts on December 8.

In addition, Chi’s Sweet Home, Knights of Sidonia, and The Drops of God, currently already available at major digital bookstores, will also see release for the first time on the comiXology platform.

While most of Vertical’s eBook distribution will continue to be handled through its primary distribution partner, Penguin Random House Publishing Services, the above titles, licensed by Vertical from Kodansha Ltd., are being distributed by Kodansha’s San Francisco-based digital operation, Kodansha Advanced Media.

VIZ MEDIA Launches New ULTRAMAN Manga Series

VIZ Media announces the brand new ULTRAMAN sci-fi superhero action manga (graphic novel) series, which is set to debut in print and digitally on August 18th.

The series, written by Eiichi Shimizu with artwork by Tomohiro Shimoguchi, is inspired by the original classic Japanese superhero TV show that ran in the late 1960s and remains hugely popular in Japan as well as with international audiences. ULTRAMAN Vol. 1 is rated ‘T’ for Teens and will carry a print MSRP of $12.99 U.S. / $14.99 CAN. The series also launchesdigitally the same day via VIZManga.com and the VIZ Manga App, as well as from the Nook, Kobo, Kindle, iBooks, comiXology, and GooglePlay stores. VIZ Media Launches The Demon Prince of Momochi House

VIZ Media has announced the launch of Aya Shouoto’s THE DEMON PRINCE OF MOMOCHI HOUSE.

The shojo manga (graphic novel) series about a teenage girl who inherits a haunted house is rated ‘T’ for Teens and carries a print MSRP of $9.99 U.S. / $12.99 CAN. The recent Tales of Festival 2015 event has announced that an anime is in the works for Bandai Namco RPG Tales of Zestiria in honor of the franchise’s 20th anniversary, sure to be a perfect compliment to the newly revealed Tales of Berseria.

Lenni Reviews: Kiss of the Rose Princes vol 2 by Aya Shouoto

If you recall my last review, I mentioned this manga is pretty standard shojo fare unless there's a curve ball thrown in later volumes. Boy, were my words ever prophetic...

This volume begins with Anise still searching for her lost choker. She orders her knights to locate it but can only let them look for so long as their magic is powered by her blood. But things get interesting when a new transfer student, Haruto Kisugi, is added to the mix, Anise's father sends her a message that he's coming home, and a seal holding in a demon is cracking, which will require a sacrifice to repair.

By the end of this volume, I was shocked and had a new respect for Anise. Most shojo heroines are plucky by design and want to change the sad fate presented in the plot. But (as a mild spoiler) when Anise says "Bring on my punishment" (referencing the punishment for losing the choker) I found that pretty ballsy. Things went so bad so quickly and Anise really showed her bravery. She went right on without hesitation. And she's brave and strong without being overbearing or too cliche. And I have read a LOT of shojo manga. Of course that could change but we shall see in volume three!

I can't give much more detail without spoiling all of the plot twists in this volume but to sum up, things get real and it was awesome.
