ABC's TGIF Shows Now Streaming Exclusively on Hulu

Hulu announced a new agreement with the Disney-ABC Television Group for the exclusive U.S. subscription video-on-demand rights to all episodes of iconic sitcoms. Boy Meets World, Home Improvement and Dinosaurs. The deal will mark the long-awaited SVOD debut of the complete libraries of hit series Boy Meets World and Home Improvement. In addition, all episodes of fan favorite Dinosaurs, from The Jim Henson Company, will also become available to stream in SVOD exclusively on Hulu. All titles will begin streaming on Hulu September 29th.

The series will join hundreds of episodes of previously announced hit shows from America’s favorite Friday night lineup from the 1990s on Hulu – including Full House, Family Matters, Step by Step, Perfect Strangers and Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper – and the agreement will make Hulu the exclusive subscription streaming home to the largest collection of series from the original “TGIF” lineup with the addition of Boy Meets World and Dinosaurs. All series launch exclusively on the service beginning September 29th, just in time for the 30th Anniversary of Full House and the 25th Anniversary of Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper.  

After premiering in the 1990s as part of ABC’s “TGIF” lineup, Boy Meets World became a hit family series that went on to air for seven seasons. The series remains just as beloved to date and has been syndicated, as well as inspired spinoffs. The complete series will make its subscription streaming debut on Hulu on September 29th.

Emmy® Award- and Golden Globe®-winning sitcom Home Improvement was one of the most-watched sitcoms of the 1990s. Based loosely on the standup comedy of series star Tim Allen, the series ran on ABC from 1991 to 1999 and has never been available through a subscription streaming service.

Lastly, cult favorite “TGIF” series, Dinosaurs, will also become available to stream on Hulu on September 29th. After airing in the 1990s under ABC’s original “TGIF” lineup, the family sitcom from Jim Henson Productions was recognized for its efforts to cover topical issues including environmentalism and endangered species, and still inspires numerous cultural references today. The news emphasizes Hulu’s commitment to bringing together some of the most iconic and popular series throughout the years, all on one platform. In July, Hulu announced a separate deal with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution for the exclusive streaming video on-demand rights to all episodes of iconic series Full House, Family Matters, Step By Step, Perfect Strangers and Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper.

Over the past year, Hulu has signed a significant string of content agreements that have made the streaming service home to fan favorite series including The Golden Girls, The OC, 30 Rock, Power, This Is Us, Atlanta and more.

Toys“R”Us to Offer Exclusive Retro Starfire DC Vinimate at NY Comic Con

The DC Vinimates line kicks off this week with Series 1 shipping to stores, including comic-style versions of Batman, Harley Quinn and Hal Jordan. In addition to the comic-style figures, Toys“R”Us stores will carry an exclusive line of Vinimates based on the hit animated series Teen Titans Go!, and will kick things off at New York Comic Con with an exclusive figure!

Teen Titans member Starfire will be the first DC Vinimate available at Toys“R”Us. Based on her retro appearance in the episode “Baby Hands” and inspired by her classic comic book appearance, the big-haired figure stands 4-inches tall and strikes a pose straight from the movie! Packaged in a full-color window box, the figure will be available for purchase at Toys“R”Us booth #110 at New York Comic Con and Toysrus.com/NYComicConvention from Thursday, October 5 through Sunday, October 8. 

Future releases in the Teen Titans Go! line include Blackfire, released along with DC Comics Series 1 this fall, and Nibor, the reverse-Robin, who will release along with DC Comics Series 2 in early 2018. Find your nearest Toys“R”Us store at Toysrus.com/storelocator!

MILESTONE will Unviel it's New Line-Up at NYCC

DC Comics' revived Milestone Comics is scheduled to "unveiled" at New York Comic Con, says DC Co-Publisher Jim Lee (via Publishers Weekly). The announcement will reportedly take place at October 5's "Robert Kirkman: The Walking Dead, Invincible and Beyond" panel, tying into word that Milestone will be featured in Kirkman's AMC docuseries The Secret History Of Comics.

Milestone's Denys Cowan and Reggie Hudlin are expected to be in attendance.

Originally founded back in 1992, Milestone began publishing comics in 1993 as an imprint of DC Comics. Although DC later integrated some of Milestone's characters into DC's core superhero line (including Static in the 2011 "New 52" relaunch), Milestone retained ownership of all its characters and had merely licensed usage of the characters and the content they produced in the 1990s to DC.

Milestone Media was reformed in January 2015 by Reginald Hudlin and two of its co-founders, Denys Cowan and Derek Dingle. Later that year at 2015's Comic-Con International: San Diego, DC announced it had reached a deal with the company to once again license the Milestone IP for usage as a comic book line and in other media.

"We couldn't be more proud and excited about the opportunity to bring the 'Dakota' Universe back to DC," said Lee in 2015. "This is a huge step forward for us in bringing readers a more diversified lineup as part of the new DC Universe, and we're anxiously looking foward to telling new stories that are socially and culturally impactful and representative of the world in which we live."

At the time, DC's plans were for a seperate line co-existing in the broader DC Multiverse but in a seperate dimension, 'Earth-M' (which Lee reconfirmed this month). There was a plan for titles including Static Shock, Icon, Rocket, and Xombi, with creators including Hudlin, Cowan, Geoff Johns, Jim Lee, Bill Sienkiewicz, Ken Lashley, and Christopher Priest. In addition to reviving Milestone characters of the past, Milestone Media said they'll also be introducing new characters and including new creators in the mix.

In August 2017, Milestone Media was sued by Charlotte McDuffie, the widow of the late co-founder Dwayne McDuffie. McDuffie is suing the company and its officers for "Breach of Fiduciary Duty," "Aiding and Abetting Breach of Fiduciary Duty," "Intentional Interference with Prospective Economic Relations," "Fraudulent Conveyance," "Civil Conspiracy To Commit Fraudulent Conveyance," and "Accounting."

In this second entry into the Kate Morrison Mystery Series, Dr. Morrison is tapped to solve a mystery surrounding a deadly viral outbreak in a rich little town called Hidden Valley. Working with her girlfriend; Sargent Andy Wyles, Kate scrambles to simultaneously treat her patients, find out how to stop the virus, deal with demanding rich people, and navigate her new relationship with Andy.

This is not the type of book I usually pick up as medical thrillers just aren't my thing but this time I wanted to step out of my comfort zone. I found the collection of smart, capable people to be a relief. There are ill meaning characters and a pretty annoying bully but nobody working to solve this problem is grossly incompetent. Sometimes a stupid character will be used for plot purposes but not here.

Andy and Kate are a true power couple; quick thinking, intuitive, and well-developed but I do feel I would have needed to read the first book to get the full impact of what happens between them. This is especially evident in the ending (which I will not spoil) where the combined events and stresses of both books impact the ending. And as this is an LGBT novel, there is a little smut but the soul of this book is the medical mystery. It may not be my usual fare but I enjoyed it nonetheless. 3.5 out of 5.
