Five Reasons Olicity Needs To End

If the title of this article doesn't make me a target for fangirls nothing will. This will contain spoilers from the mid season finale of Arrow season 4. SPOILER WARNING!

At the end of Arrow season 4 mid season finale. Damien Darhk sent his goons to kill Oliver. The ghost minions shot up Oliver's limo with Felicity getting hit. The teaser after episode alludes to Felicity's death. I don't want the character to die. Here is five reasons I think it's time for the era of Olicity to end.

1. Laurel is Oliver's true love.

As a comic fan I'm not really happy how Laurel is underdeveloped. Laurel is the Black Canary for goodness sake. Audiences really haven't connected with her at all. The past two seasons have been focus on developing Oliver and Felicity relationship. That is all in good but when other key DC characters like Black Canary are just shoehorn in its a problem. Look at social media during Arrow you will see how much people can't stand Laurel. That's not the fault of the actress. That is the fault of writer's who have given us a whiny complainer that people love to hate. Don't get me wrong I love Felicity she is a great strong character. I just feel that Laurel needs the push to front like in Season 1. If the writer's end game is Laurel and Oliver it's time to move her to the front and Felicity back to the supportive role.

2. Arrow Is A Superhero Show

One thing I love about Gotham, The Flash and Supergirl is the love stories are not the main focus. Arrow is losing sight of this in my opinion. Every week Olicity has a big chunk of the show. Even in the crossover episode we had to deal with Olicity drama. Granted that time it made sense since it dealt with Oliver's kid. On The Flash Barry is dating Patty and while they have romance scenes it feels organic how it's displayed and progressed. I feel Olicity is now being written in to appease a demographic audience that only watches Arrow for Olicity and not the great character arc of Green Arrow and growth he has taken as a man. I'm not saying the show shouldn't have love but it shouldn't be front and center where it's starting to alienate some fans.

3. Oliver Grows From Loss

If they do decide to kill Felicity which I think is a bad move, then it will add more dimension to Oliver's character. If we learned anything from all the seasons of the past is Oliver changes after death. His best friend, his mother, Sara multiple times and Thea. Each painful lost saw Oliver grow as a character. Don't kill Felicity but just end the relationship and show us that Oliver has to eat the words that he told Barry. Those words are guys like us don't get the girl.

4. Adds More Dimension to Felicity

For a character that really isn't important the comics. Arrow has taken Felicity and made her a household name. I miss the old Felicity. The Felicity that's wise cracking and is the glue of Team Arrow. I would love to see how her character progress if Olicity should end. Will she leave Team Arrow? Can she still work with Oliver? Will she go rogue? So many ways to take her character.

5.  Back to Basics

Sometimes you have go back to basics. The show is about a man who becomes a hero. Season 4 is doing great by surpassing season 3 but Olicity is still front and center. Balance the heroism and relationships. I see more Olicity than I see Green Arrow these days. Bring back Laurel from fan hate and make her the central female character. The show is calling him Green Arrow now and it's time to really make him that.

Completely overwhelmed by the thousands of girls on campus, the few boys find that their situation is less than ideal.

Riley Burke lives with his roommate Porter, barely scraping together a living as a part time model at an art school and graphic designer. Riley's lover, Westwood - a member of the undead - makes frequent trips through Riley's window but Riley fears that Westwood merely sees him as a diversion, as most undead like Westwood treat their human lovers as a novelty or passing fancy. But when Westwood is investigating a case for his organization called Lychgate about a series of murders, both he, Riley, and Porter are forced to confront Westwood's past misdeeds and Riley will have to weigh the importance of an uncertain relationship with Westwood.

The conflict between these three men is the most interesting part of this book. Westwood can be a dick but he really is trying to make good on his violent past crimes despite his brusque manner and hesitance to show his feelings. Riley's uncertainty about his bond to Westwood - as in this book the undead can take on "human worshipers" to make them more powerful - as he feels it's just a means to an end for a powerful, immortal creature; and he doesn't want his heart broken again. Porter is mentally recovering from recently becoming undead himself; at Westwood's hand and is having a hard time dealing with the fact he is publicly dead and his best friend is in a romantic relationship with the man who killed him. All of this is going on while a copycat killer is on the loose and whoever is doing the killings has learned of Westwood's one weakness.

I really like the unique take on these supernatural creatures. They aren't exactly vampires but they have otherworldly beauty and strength, one unique ability (such as super speed, for example) and they can't die unless someone figures out their one weakness; which is different for each undead. Riley and Westwood are in the classic "will they realize they both really do care for each other" back and forth but Riley's attempts to adapt to and understand Westwood and his world are admirable. ALl the characters are developed in such a way that I did feel empathy for their struggles but there were moments where I wanted the over arching plot - finding the killer - to get to the darn point.

But then again, I'm an impatient person when it comes to murder mysteries and aside for the gay romance and supernatural elements, that's what this is. This is also book two; the first being Art of Death, so the ultimate climax may have had more Easter eggs from the first book that I just didn't see.

All in all, this book was enjoyable. I am always a fan of well written supernatural romances with real plots and Bosch delivers. It's not heavy on the steamy bits but it's definitely a mature book. So, if you don't like pretty boys smooching (and doing considerably more than that) pass on this one. If you like some good story with your pretty boys kissing (and this book clocks in at 310 pages) you will enjoy this book.

I' Am Hero (Live Action Trailer)

The trailer for I' Am Hero has been released today. As a fan of this zombie Manga I'm looking forward to see how the live action film holds up. I' Am Hero follows the story of Hideo Suzuki, a 35-year-old manga artist assistant, whose life seem to be stuck around his exhausting but low-paying job, unfulfilled dreams, strange hallucinations and unsatisfying relationships. He sees himself as a supporting character in his own life, has low self-esteem, resulting in frustration.

One day, the world as Hideo knows it is shattered by presences of a disease that turns people into homicidal maniacs, whose first instinct is to attack and devour the nearest human. Armed with only his sporting shotgun, he runs for his life, meeting strangers along the way. All the while, he and his companions struggle to stay alive, while questioning their moral choices.

Marvel's Avengers Academy reveal Character List

Marvel's flagship superhero team the Avengers are being re-imagined as students in the upcoming mobile game Marvel Avengers Academy -- and now we know who's attending. TinyCo has released yearbook-style images of the eight principal cast members who will attend the school.

Here is the official character descriptions for Captain America, the Hulk, Iron Man, Thor and Black Widow (the Avengers movie cast, minus Hawkeye). Additional characters are Hawkeye, Loki and Ms. Marvel.

· Captain America – The living legend and natural born leader just might be the only mature person at the Academy, so he’s a perfect fit to lead away missions and serve as Class President. But that doesn’t mean he relates to his classmates. The guys respect him, the girls adore him, and Hydra hates him, but he’s still trying to find his place in this crazy world, and even crazier campus.

· The Hulk – He’s the ultimate Big Man on Campus, a gentle giant who just happens to be “the strongest there is.” He does his best to learn and fit in, but this Academy wasn’t made for invulnerable behemoths, so his anxiety and frustrations inevitably turn to anger and that’s not good for anyone.

Iron Man – Tony Stark is a billionaire. A genius. An inventor. And he’ll be more than happy to tell you about all of his other talents. He’s a charming, self-centered, ladies-man-in-training who wants to save the world, and make sure everyone knows he’s the handsome, ingenious hero who did it. He brings Stark Tower with him to Avengers Academy so that he can work in his high-tech lab, relax in his high-rise hot tub, and remind everyone that he owns a skyscraper with his name on it.

· Thor – He’s the literal golden god of Avengers Academy. An impossibly handsome, ridiculously strong, and unbelievably athletic exchange student who thrives on competition and seeks out confrontation. He’s effortlessly popular even though he never seems to really understand his new Midgardian classmates, and ends up causing trouble just as often as he saves the day.

· Black Widow – She’s on a single-minded mission to uncover the Academy’s secrets, while avoiding her annoying classmates. Unfortunately, she has to trust people and make friends because she’ll need help from her fellow heroes to find what Nick Fury is hiding, and defeat dangerous enemies everywhere from Asgard to right under her feet.

Lenni Reviews: "Pathfinder: Exodus Book Two" by Gun Brooke

In the wake of utter chaos on their home planet, the Oconodians are fleeing their world on a massive ship called Pathfinder. Due to riots caused by Changers; people who have developed various sorts of powers, this ship will take them on a long journey to a new world. Chief engineer and seasoned soldier Adina Vantressa has the responsibility of keeping all two million people aboard safe by overseeing the proper functions of all the systems keeping them alive. One of those millions is Briar Lindemay; a nurse who, along with her sister Caya, have boarded the ship in search for a better life. Briar joins the expedition as a nurse but also is hiding the fact that her sister is in fact a changer and Briar has illegally boarded the ship to protect her young sister from the violence at home. Thrown together by an obvious sabotage attempt, Adina and Briar become fast friends with a chance at something more. But the same sabotage that brought them together was not the first and with Caya's ability to see visions increasing in strength, Briar is forced to decide if her budding romance is worth risking her sister's safety or Adina's life as well.

The science fiction elements to this story are spot on and very interesting. This novel starts off running and doesn't stop for very long; even when the main characters are trying to get to know each other. What is gratifying about this book is since the situation is so dire, every character has no other choice but to be strong. Male or female; every character is a professional trying to ensure the survival of millions of people during a major interplanetary evacuation and resettlement so nobody is whining here. I know readers are sometimes on the lookout for strong female characters in particular and Brooke gives us an excellent balance of capable people where gender isn't important.

As for the romance, if you're looking for some steamy trash, this isn't the place. In  my opinion, this is a science fiction novel with romantic elements and a couple of steamy scenes here and there. And I mean mature rating steamy, so don't be shocked by some woman on woman sexytimes.

Coming into this series on book 2 makes it so I cannot comment on how this book relates to the first but Pathfinder does end with the promise of more. But since the romance was so secondary in my opinion, I would love to see more about how these adrift settlers manage when they get to their destination. This is not to say that the romance is not executed well, it's just the story surrounding it was very cool. Briar and Adina are a cute couple and your root for them to come through the chaos around them. Kudos so you, Brooke! I look forward to book 3.

Lenni Reviews: 'Rule of Three' by Lore Graham

                                                                      &nbs…

Ian is an adept magic user but his rival, Jae, always teases him that he doesn't take any chances with his work. Finally having enough, Ian does the research and summons a demon he can show off to Jae to prove he can do something risky. The demon Ian ends up with is an incubus named Alistair; and a sexy romp progresses from there.

This short novella gives you exactly what it promises; a smutty romp with two guys and a demon. It has the sort of pacing that occurs when you need to get three men in bed and naked in under 50 pages; rushed and dirty. But, yeah, that's the price of admission here, folks. You don't get short erotica for the character development. Alistair is my favorite by far, of course. He seems to have the most personality out of the three.

What made me stumble was the replacement of pronouns like "his" "him" and "he" with "ze" and "zir." I just rolled with it after awhile. If you are looking for a quickie with some magic and fun, 'Rule of Three' isn't half bad! A little short for $3.99, in my opinion; but if you are looking for a m/m/m fantasy short story, you may want to check it out.
