The live action version of Disney's The Jungle Book directed by John Favreau released their first trailer today. This version stars the voice talents of Scarlett Johansson, Bill Murray, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyongo, Giancarlo Esposito, Ben Kingsley, and Christopher Walken.
From the trailer, it would appear that Favreau is taking a darker and more eerie tone compared to the cheery musical we know and love. The animation is beautifully integrated with our real life Mowgli, Neel Sethi, but there are aspects that seem unrealistic. For example, Kaa, voiced by Johansson, is extraordinarily large which destroys the seemingly realistic landscape.
The Jungle Book is currently slated to hit theaters April 15th, 2016.

Netflix and Polygon Pictures together announce the world’s leading Internet TV network will be the global home of the upcoming Anime series, AJIN: Demi-Human. Netflix members in Japan will be able to watch each episode of the series just 3 days after the original linear air date. All episodes of the series will premiere at once in regions Netflix currently operates outside of Japan in mid-2016.
Based on the manga by Gamon Sakurai, AJIN: Demi-Human, published by KODANSHA Ltd., is about a young high-school student who is hit by a truck and dies only to discover that he is, in fact, demi-human, an “Ajin.” What he finds are dozens of others who are also Ajins; all of whom are being hunted and trying to survive.
This deal marks a milestone in how Anime is distributed on a global scale giving quicker and more efficient access to great Anime titles to Netflix members and fans around the world at the same time. AJIN: Demi-Human is the latest Anime title from Polygon Pictures to premiere exclusively on Netflix outside of Japanese broadcast with Knights of Sidonia premiering last summer to strong fanfare.

DC Comics Super-Villains and Super-Heroes reunite in the new half-hour Robot Chicken DC Comics Special III: Magical Friendship premiering Sunday, October 18th at Midnight (ET/PT) on Adult Swim. Season eight of Robot Chicken kicks off one week later.
Otakus & Geeks attended Defend Beer: Brooklyn Brewery event last week. It was a full turn out filled with cosplayers, beer lovers and of course New York Comic Con hopefuls. This year's beer had a great taste I had three myself. The event was bigger than it's first year. This year's swag was Defend Beer Capes which you can see Justin wearing in the slideshow below. Starting in December's Invincible Iron Man #4, Peter Parker's ex-wife Mary Jane Watson will become a regular part of Tony Stark's supporting cast. This is a marked change from the past, where Watson has been part of the Amazing Spider-Man and associated Spidey titles as a character.
Despite the change, writer Brian Michael Bendis confirms that the pair do already know each other.
“They know each other. She used to live in Avengers Tower. But that’s all I’m going to say for now because what kind of relationship they end up having is a big part of what I would like people to buy the book for."
While Bendis was hesitant to disclose the exact nature of their relationship, he did say it was 'new.'
"What I can tell you is that it is new territory for both Tony and Mary Jane. And that is pretty exciting to write.”
“I [have] spent most of my time at Marvel writing the teenage version of Mary Jane [in Ultimate Spider-Man],” he continued. “This is a grown-up woman who has been through a lot. She seems like one of those characters that went down certain paths that may not have panned out the way she hoped; and she’s ready for a kick ass second act.”
Invincible Iron Man features David Marquez on art, and launches in October, with #4 releasing in December.

Yesterday American Horror Story released a trailer for their upcoming season entitled: American Horror Story: Hotel starring Lady Gaga.
This trailer is the first from this season that features our new cast members Matt Bomer, and Cheyenne Jackson along with AHS staples like Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Chloe Sevigny, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Finn Wittrock and Denis O'Hare.
From the looks of this trailer, it would appear that this season will finally return to the 'horror story' the first two season of AHS brought to the table.

We are pleased to announce that following on the heels of the acclaimed special program of the last year, “The World of Hideaki Anno”, this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival will continue to feature the revolutionary Japanese anime series, Mobile Suit Gundam as a special program “The World of Gundam”. With this special screening of Gundam, a monumental work of robot animation that ran for 36 years and has been shown in more than 25 countries and region, the secrets of one of Japan’s most successful anime franchises will be unveiled.
Mobile Suit Gundam was first released in 1979. The Japanese animation studio Nippon Sunrise (currently SUNRISE Inc.) and director Yoshiyuki Tomino created an epic tale of a universe in which an era of cosmic battles is expanding and a group of young people joins in the terrific mobile suit robot war.
At the time, there were no other robot animation works in which the artists and creators drew on hard science. This work has amazed TV viewers and industry professionals alike with its dynamic realism. After the first episode, Gundam, the story passed through the hands of a variety of creators to produce a many series that have spanned generations and truly resonated with fans. It is popular in both Japan and abroad, and has greatly influenced many Hollywood directors, including Guillermo del Toro.
What sets Mobile Suite Gundam apart from other robot animation works is that it has produced a number of hits and movements in the animation world through multi-genre collaboration. The total volume of sales of GUNPLA (Gundam Plastic Model) products released since the beginning of the franchise is approximately 445 million units.
The entire Gundam series, starting with the memorable first theatrical-released film, Mobile Suit Gundam, will be shown during this year’s festival all at once. This presents a unique opportunity for audience to take in the full glory of the Gundam universe. In addition, the full CG animation film created by director Yoshiyuki Tomino, Ring of Gundam—produced in 2009 to celebrate the Gundam thirtieth anniversary— will also be presented. Fans both old and new of the Gundam universe can expect a must-see lineup. Related talk events will be announced sequentially on the TIFF website.
The 28th Tokyo International Film Festival will be held from October 22 to 31, 2015 at Roppongi Hills, Shinjuku WALD9, Shinjuku Piccadilly, TOHO CINEMAS SHINJUKU and other venues in Tokyo.
FILMS: 26 films will be screened in the program of “THE WORLD OF GUNDAM”, including TV, theatrical animation and short films. Screening schedules will be announced sequentially on the TIFF website.
