Wild Storm Oral History Project

1198787-auth_24_cats_25_cmyk.jpg

Hey O&G fans, author Joseph Hedges is writing a book on the history on one of the great comic book studios. Started in 1992 Wild Storm began under Image comics and quickly became it's own brand. In 1998, DC Comics bought WildStorm -- both its characters, universe, and its staff contracts -- to join the fold of its DC Multiverse.

About The Project

This oral history project’s goal is to present a detailed account of the nineteen years that WildStorm Studios existed as its own independent studio, publishing under Image Comics, through its purchase and eventual closure by DC Comics.  WildStorm helped shape the comic book industry in many ways and deserves to have its story told through the very words of its creators and staff.  These men and women shepherded the creation of a universe of characters that resonated throughout a generation.  Please see the “Forms” section for interviewee details.

So lets show Joseph Hedges our support and spread the word. Below are links to the site and all social Media. Visit the WildStorm Oral History site for details on the project.

Inferno's Demonic DARKCHYLD and NIGHT CRAWLER Design

Hey O&G fan today we have a look at Inferno, one of the story lines from Secret Wars. Here is a look at the Darkchyld and Night crawler designs.   The designs, by Garron show Illyana Rasputin going back to an old style and Nightcrawler evolving into something pretty demonic.

The Inferno series is essentially a story asking "What If the original 'Inferno' crossover  never ended?" In this series, the X-Men lost and Darkchylde and her minions conquered Manhattan. Now, five years on, her brother Colossus is mounting a last-ditch effort to rescue his sister and the world. This will be a little different from the original Inferno story arc from 1989.

Lenni Reviews: Kiss of the Rose Princess Vol. 1 by Aya Shouoto

High school girl Anise Yamamoto gets chased through the school gates every morning. But not by rabid suitors or aliens, but by the dress code enforcer who takes issue with a rose choker Anise wears every day without fail. She is willing to endure this daily nonsense because her father told her when she was little if Anise were to ever remove the choker, a terrifying punishment will befall her. In true magical girl fashion, a small magical creature manages to knock it off and suddenly, Anise is the new owner of four magical cards she can use to summon attractive knights with a kiss.

This volume is a good start to what I can see being a very cute series. I was left wondering if the terrible fate that befalls Anise is to have the hottest bodyguards around (can we all share that "horrible fate," please?) but by the end of this volume it does seem like something is brewing behind the scenes.

However, if you've read any other magical girl, high school manga, you get the rhythm of everything. Hot guys, magical charms and kisses, wacky high school hi-jinks, and a cute, mischievous talking animal. Just another normal day in manga-land. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but unless some sort of curve ball comes in later volumes, shojo fans will know exactly what to expect here. The art is lovely and all the characters are interesting so far. I look forward to seeing what happens next.

Jared Leto's The Killing Joke Inspired Joker Photo

Suicide Squad is about to begin production soon. However that is not stopping director David Ayer of getting fans hype for the film. Today Ayer tweeted a picture of Jared Leto holding a camera. I know some of you're saying big deal. Actually it's a huge big deal. If The Killing Joke Joker is the one we might get for the film. Then all I have to say is this is going to be The Joker for ages. As you see from the pic below Leto hair appears to be green. He's holding the camera the same position as The Joker. The only thing missing now is the killer smile. Personally I hope Ayer will ease up on the teasing. I would love The Joker's reveal to be kept under wraps until the film comes out.

Ben Hardy Confirmed as Angel in X-Men Apocalypes

Angel concept art from X-Men: Age of Apocalypse
CREDIT: 20th Century Fox

According to Empire, actor Ben Hardy has been confirmed as Angel in X-Men: Apocalypse by director Bryan Singer. Speaking to the UK mag, Singer had this to say, “Ben Hardy is Angel – I shall confirm it for you! But he’s not a very nice Angel! And that’s all I’ll say…”

This ends speculation as to Hardy's role. Images available with the announcement showed Angel with metallic wings, as in those given to the character by Apocalypse himself, which leads to speculation that the character will be or become the villainous Archangel in the film. But asusming he's Archangel, the question remains, who is Archangel?

X-Men: Apocalypse is set for a May 19, 2016 release
