10 Greatest WOLVERINE Villains of All Time

Hey Otakus and Geeks fans, With the Death of Wolverine out and soon to wrap up, how will everyone's favorite X-men meet his end?  Newsarama has put together a list of Logan's Top enemies.  Who knows … one of them could be his eventual killer.

10.    DOG LOGAN

The “Logan” name is Dog’s by birthright, but the man we know as Wolverine happened to take that from him. First appearing in the landmark 2001 series Origin, Dog Logan was once a childhood friend of Wolverine but his upbringing twisted him into a sadistic and vindictive soul.

Brandishing scars on his face from Wolverine’s first emergence of his claws, Dog Logan re-emerged in modern times continuing his pursuit of his one-time childhood friend. He’s traveled through time to take down Wolverine, most recently coming up upon him shortly after the emergence of the Jean Grey School. At one point Dog even met a future version of himself that only encouraged him more to hunt down Wolverine.

9. Lady Deathstrike

Lady Deathstrike wasn’t born as you see her today – she’s been damaged, scarred, forged and honed to be the killer she’s become.

Yuriko Oyama was born in the family of Lord Dark Wind, a Japanese crime lord and scientist created the process by which people like Wolverine can have their skeletons bonded with adamantium. After the death of her father, Oyama embarked on a misguided quest to restore the honor of her father by tracking down those who she feel appropriated, stole or used her father’s invention. After her first encounter with Wolverine proved disastrous, she turned to Mojo and Spiral’s Body Shoppe and underwent extensive cybernetic modifications to become the adamantium-fused, clawed woman you see today. In her second attempt, alongside the Reavers, Lady Deathstrike routed the X-Men from their Australian base and gave Wolverine a new measure of torture, eventually crucifying him.

8. Daken

Like father, like son? Daken shares much in common with his father, from his powers to his drive and viciousness, but his foster upbringing and the dark tutelage of Romulus turned the half-Japanese / half-Caucasian boy on a collision course – and a bloody family reunion – with his father.

Created by Daniel Way and Steve Dillon in 2007’s Wolverine Origins #10, Daken has fought alongside his father as much as he’s fought against him, but ultimately Daken’s more foe than friend. Despite being seemingly killed in a bomb explosion, Daken has shown a reluctance for death similar to his father and returned to continue his quest to kill Logan.

7.  The Reavers

How can a group of simple un-powered humans be a major threat to Wolverine? Revenge, guns and cybernetics. This rag-tag group of Mad Max style mercenaries are bonded over a shared experience – being cut into by Wolverine.

A mix of Australian ravagers and disgruntled ex-Hellfire Club henchmen, the Reavers were kicked out of their Australian hideaway by the X-Men and returned – with Donald Pierce and Lady Deathstrike – to claim vengeance. They return finding only Wolverine, but put him through the beating of a life-time: beatings, torture and crucifixtion. The Reavers were so sadistic they ended up using Wolverine’s healing factor against him, allowing him to heal between near-death torture sessions. Although they’ve appeared subsequently in Uncanny X-men and Uncanny X-Force, they have yet to match their sadistic high point against Wolverine in Australia.

6. Ogun

How can someone’s mentor also be one of their worst enemies? Things change over time, and with Wolverine’s long lifespan that leaves a lot of room for change – the good and the bad kind. Originally created by Chris Claremont and Al Milgrom in Kitty Pryde & Wolverine, Ogun’s story is that he was a ninja and a mutant, and first met Logan in China after the Battle of Shanghai when much of China was controlled by Japan. Ogun was working as part of the Japanese army, and took  Wolverine under his wing and training him in various fighting styles as well as combating a telepath – which Ogun was. Logan ran across Ogun again in the modern day, finding him working as a Yakuza enforcer. After Ogun possessed his protégé, Kitty Pryde, to act as an assassin, Logan reluctantly killed his mentor – only to see him return as a vengeful spirit possessing others. Wolverine has routed the spirit Ogun on several occasions only to see him spring up once again inhabiting other bodies, at one point even gaining control of a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier using a technology-based form of telepathy he had mastered after his “first” death.
Ogun’s purported to have been alive since the 16th century, attributing his long life to his mutant powers, so it’s tough to say if Ogun will ever truly be dead and might even outlive his one-time apprentice.

5. Romulus

Wolverine is purported to be over a century old, but what if there was another feral mutant whose history goes back even longer? Well there is, and his name is Romulus. Created by Jeph Loeb and Simone Bianchi in 2007’s Wolverine #50 (Volume 3, for those keeping track), Romulus is a shadowy villain that’s been revealed to be the puppetmaster for many of the darkest events in Wolverine’s life.

Born in ancient times from a species of canine that evolved to roughly resemble humans (as opposed to primates), Romulus has been rumored to have been the founder of the Roman Empire and was revealed to be the guiding force behind the original Weapon X program. In modern times, Romulus takes an interest in the more feral mutants existing, starting with Wolverine but also including Sabretooth, Feral, Thornn and Wild Child. He even took Logan’s son Daken from his mother’s womb and conditioned him to be a bloodthirsty killer with a single-minded goal of assassinating his father and picking up that mantle.

4. Red Right Hand

The newest characters that are part of our Countdown today, the Red Right Hand made it onto our list for debuting with an impact: sending Logan to hell. During Jason Aaron’s acclaimed run on Wolverine, the Red Right Hand were introduced as support group for people who had loved ones killed by Wolverine. Their method for coping? Putting Logan through as much grief, if not more, than they were in.
The Red Right Hand’s first act was finding a loophole in the longevity of the seemingly unkillable Wolverine by making a deal with a demon to possess the longtime X-Man and send his soul to hell. Wolverine eventually clawed his way out of the firey pits of hell, only to be confronted by a second attack by this shadowy group – a group of young mutants dubbed the Mongrels with mysterious grudge for Wolverine. Logan cut through them all and eventually kills them, only for the Red Right  Hand to reveal they were all – all five of them – previously unknown children of Wolverine. In plain terms: the Red Right Hand had him kill or be killed by children he never knew he had. Still reeling from that revelation, Logan finally made it to a stare-down with the Red Right Hand only to be robbed of any kind of vengeance or justice when the entire group committed suicide before Logan could gain any sort of pleasure out of doing it himself.

3. Mystique

The relationship between Mystique and Wolverine is complicated. There’s hate, lust, distrust, respect and unresolved issues that litter their decades-long interactions.
For years comics readers never saw anything personal between Mystique and Wolverine; yes she was an ertzwhile adversary of the X-Men, but nothing put these two against one other personally. But in recent years, Jason Aaron and others have made this conflict between these two 100+ year old mutants personal.  From their first meeting in the Mexican desert in 1921 and on through numerous conflicts including the critically acclaimed “Get Mystique” stories in Wolverine, these two have crossed, double-crossed and triple-crossed each other while still finding time for a little romance along the way. Perhaps they’re too different from one another, or perhaps too much alike. Mystique sits in a unique place in Wolverine’s life: able to fit in on a list of his top adversaries as well as his top lovers in his life. Now what does that say about their relationship?

2. Weapon X

Weapon X is more than one person or one team; it’s a system, an organization that put Logan through the worst moments of his life and, ironically, made him the hero he is today.
Hinted at from Wolverine’s very first appearance in Incredible Hulk #181in 1974, it wasn’t until 1991’s “Weapon X” arc in Marvel Comics Presents by Barry Windsor-Smith that we knew what  Weapon X meant. The Canadian-based research facility kidnapped unsuspecting humans and mutants and experimented on them to enhance, subvert and explore superhuman abilities and augment them with technological means. This culminated with the brutal adamantium-bonding process on Logan’s bones, but also included the wholesale brainwashing of Logan which lasted up until House of M which cleared the mutant’s foggy head.
There were several notable people working in Weapon X and behind the scenes, ranging from Mr. Sinister to John Sublime and even Romulus. The test subjects of Weapon X and the other associated Weapon Plus programs are a Who’s Who of the Marvel U, ranging from the original – Captain America – and on through to Sabretooth, Deadpool, X-23, Fantomex, the Stepford Cuckoos and even the entire Deathlok program.

1. Sabretooth

You could call Sabretooth and Wolverine blood brothers. Even though the idea they were actually related was nixed from comics continuity, they’ve shared enough blood in fighting each other to be tied to each other in more ways than any family could be – or should be.
Originally introduced as an Iron Fist villain back in 1977 by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, when that duo took over Uncanny X-Men they brought Victor Creed with them and found a potent rival in Wolverine. In many ways, Sabretooth was the man that Wolverine was fighting not to become – one unrestrained by civility and giving in to his primal and bestial urges. Originally depicted as a serial killer, Sabretooth has gone to kill countless people in Wolverine’s life (and outside of it), which we learned recently in Wolverine: Origin II all stems from Logan killing Creed’s brother and sister.
Given their long, bloody history and the fact that Sabretooth showed up in the final page of <>Death of Wolverine #1, for many people – myself included – Victor Creed could be the person who ultimately kills Wolverine by series’ end. Time will tell.

Both on the ground and in space, the final episodes revealed the true desperation of their plight, as our heroes risked everything just to stay alive. Red Band Society Review

At first the premise of Red Band Society seems bleak. A comedy set in the children's wing of a hospital could be limiting and hospital comedies are few and far between. Fox has adapted Red Band Society from a successful Catalan TV show Polseres Vermelles, that has been running since 2011.  So Fox is putting their faith in executive producer Steven Spielberg and directors like Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (American Horror Story) and Jason Ensler (Hart of Dixie) to make the american adaption a success.

The story revolves around 6 teens who are suffering from various severe illnesses that have made them semi-permanent residents of the pediatric wing of the Ocean Park Hospital in Los Angeles. The story is narrated by Charlie, a young boy who is currently in a persistent coma. He tells the audience "Yeah, this is me, talking to you. In a coma. Deal with it." This candid, nonchalant and ingenious statement is an illustration of the tone of this eccentric, warm hearted show. Leo Roth, played by Charlie Rowe (Pirate Radio), is a long time resident who has positioned himself as the 'leader' of the group . He knows the hospitals secrets and along with his partner in crime Dash, played by Astro (Earth to Echo, A Walk Among the Tombstones), he loves to break rules like any normal teenager. Other quirky characters include Emma, played by Ciara Bravo, a sardonic and extremely intelligent hip girl suffering from an eating disorder, Kara, played by Zoe Levin, the dictator like cheerleader who is used to getting whatever she want, and new comer Jordi, played by Nolan Sotillo, who has traveled to Los Angeles to convince Dr Jack McAndrew to perform the surgery on his leg, refusing to take no for an answer.

The ringleader of this adolescent circus is  Nurse Jackson, played by Academy Award Winner Octavia Spencer. Best know for her award winning performance in The Help, Spencer is applauded for her blunt, no nonsense humor which is exactly the kind of caretaker Nurse Jackson is. A veteran at Ocean Park she has the know how to ensure the best care for her patients and the heart to nourish and tend to each and every patient, no matter how obnoxious.

The plot and relationships that are developed in Red Band Society could have easily been set in any high school in Los Angeles. The fact that they are set in a hospital wing instead truly makes this new comedy a distinctly original series. The cast of relatively fresh faces creates a frivolous, intelligent clique audiences will love to be a part of!

Red Band Society premieres Wednesday September 17th at 9pm only on Fox.

The Fault in Our Stars Review

Although my mom is a survivor of breast cancer, I was away at sleep away camp though her worst cycles of chemo so I have a slightly warped view of her struggles. In the last couple years I dove into several novels, plays and movies involving cancer patients and survivors trying to get an idea of what she went through. A standout for me from the moment I picked it up is The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. The movie was released this past June and screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber stayed extremely close to the novel’s plot line as well as overall tone.

Set in Indianapolis The Fault in Our Stars is both a heart warming and wrenching story about a sardonic, quick witted teenager names Hazel Grace Lancaster, played by Shailene Woodley (Divergent, The Secret Life of the American Teenager). Hazel has been suffering from terminal thyroid cancer that has metastasized to her lungs. Her mother fears she is becoming depressed and urges her to go to support group. Although reluctant to contribute to the group at first, a statement made by Augustus Waters, played by Ansel Elgort (Divergent, Carrie), who is in remission from a cancerous bone tumor that cost him part of his leg. He says his fear is oblivion, peeks her interest. Hazel's response perfectly illustrates that she has come to terms with the fact that death especially at this stage of her cancer in inevitable. Intrigued by her eloquent response Augustus, known to his friends as Gus begins to fall in love.

Unlike other films featuring characters on the brink of death, The Fault in Our Stars isn’t looking for pity. John Green wanted to show that these young teens are exactly that young teens. The perfect delineation is the cut scenes of Hazel continually looking at her iPhone willing there to be a text message from Augustus the day after they met. A ritual every single girl can relate to. These teens are extremely fun, strong and diverse. Augustus, for the most part, no matter the diagnoses is an upbeat hilarious guy who strives to affect the people around him in a positive way. His friend Isaac, played effortlessly by Nat Wolff (Stuck in Love, The Naked Brothers Band), even after losing  both his eyes to cancer is quick to follow up with a sardonic joke.

The love story between Hazel Grace and Augustus is a timeless tale of fate coming in and screwing everything up. The distinct animated characters however make this film a tear-jerking love story that will endure for years to come!

Get the tissues ready! The Fault in Our Stars come to Blu Ray/DVD/Digital Download on Tuesday September 16th.

TNT looking to make Dick Grayson (Robin) Series

Looks like TNT is jumping on the Super Hero train. With the success of shows like Arrow and the development of shows like Gotham and Constatine it was only a matter of time before the sidekicks of DC got their chance to take on the small screen. DC previously announced that there is a Super Girl pilot in the mix but for Batman fans nothing is more exciting then the possibility of finally seeing a Dick Grayson in live action.

Arguable the greatest Robin of all time Dick Grayson was born into a circus family. Their specialty was the trapeze and their act was called the Flying Graysons. After refusing to pay Tony Zucco, a ruthless Gotham gangster known for following through on his threats, Grayson's parents are both killed in a freak accident in the middle of their performance. Left without family Dick Grayson is eventually adopted by Bruce Wayne who sympathizes with his need to find justice for the death of his parents. Eventually Dick Grayson becomes the first of many Robins, serving as Batman's number 1 sidekick.

The pilot being developed for TNT will focus on Grayson's life after Robin and his journey in both becoming Nightwing and his struggle to define himself as a solo Superhero. Akiva Goldsman, known for I Am Legend and A Beautiful Mind,  and Marc Haimes, are working on the script as well as co-producing the project. While the pilot will center around Grayson, it will also be derived from the Teen Titans story line. They are hoping to include other sidekicks like Donna Troy (Wonder Girl), Wally West (Kid Flash),  Roy Harper (Speedy) and Garth (Aqualad). There will be no cross over of plot lines or actors from the current CW series.

Looks like DC is going full speed ahead with television projects. Only time will tell if they become as successful as their current installments.

Interview With Christina Welsh (Screenwriter For Addicted)

We had a chat with screenwriter Christina Welsh about her upcoming romantic drama film "Addicted." Christina chats about the process of writing the script, the characters and many more. Addicted will be released on October 9th 2014.

Otakus & Geeks: Let's start from the beginning. When did you decide that you wanted to become a screenwriter? What inspired you to enter the world of film?

Christina Welsh: I knew from the time I was five years old that I wanted to be a writer. I concentrated on writing novels and short stories as a child but when I was a teenager, I was inspired by ROCKY — I loved the movie and the story behind it: how Sylvester Stallone wrote the script and held out on selling it in order to play the lead. I was inspired by his passion. My father got me enrolled in a screenwriting class when I was 14 and later, I majored in screenwriting in college.

Otakus & Geeks: Your next film project is soon to be released entitled “Addicted” based on the book written by Zane. How did you become aboard the project?

Christina Welsh: It was an open writing assignment for Lionsgate Films. The studio put out the call, industry-wide. My agent and manager submitted me for the project — many writers were submitted by their representatives. Based on the strength of my writing sample, I was brought in to pitch my ideas for how I would turn this exciting book into a movie — after a few pitch meetings, the studio hired me to do the adaptation. Zane was part of the team that selected me, and I was pleased to have her blessing as I started this project.

Otakus & Geeks: What are some of the challenges of writing a screenplay as an adaptation opposed to writing an original screenplay?

Christina Welsh: An original idea comes from your own head and heart — so there are no rules. You write what you want and only answer to yourself and your own vision (until you sell your script, of course, and then you get producer and studio notes. ) When adapting a book, you want to be sure you honor the author’s voice and vision – while coming up with a cinematic interpretation of their work that can be realized on screen. In this case, I really liked the source material and Zane was always there to answer any questions I had — both of which made a challenging job much easier.

Otakus & Geeks: Was there any pressure going into this project with this being your second feature film and it being based on a book with a very popular audience?

Christina Welsh: Sure. IF ONLY, my first film, was based on my original script, so there were no audience expectations going in … ADDICTED has a huge built-in fan base, and those fans will be coming to the theaters to see how we did. You want to satisfy the people who love the book, but things are always going to change a bit in the translation. I think fans will see we remained true to the story and characters.

Otakus & Geeks: How long did it take you to write the screenplay? Did the author Zane have any input on how the screenplay would go?

Christina Welsh: I worked on the project off and on over a two-year period — and I went through multiple drafts for the studio and producers. Zane is an executive producer on the project, so she offered input along the way, which was very helpful to me. She was accessible through the writing process – when I had questions or wanted to run some new ideas past her. She was gracious and supportive of my work.

Otakus & Geeks: Usually with an adaptation that is based on a book not every scene makes it to the screenplay. Was there any particular scene that you had to cut but really wanted in the screenplay?

Christina Welsh: The book spans twenty years and includes some wonderful stuff from Zoe and her husband Jason’s youth — from when they first meet in grade school (and HATE each other!) through their early teen years when they start to become attracted to each other all the way through to their senior year in high school, when they’re deeply in love and planning a future together. We had some terrific and touching flashback scenes early in the writing process that covered some of those pivotal moments from their younger days. But when you have a 325-page book that you’re adapting into a 100-page screenplay, a lot of great moments have to be cut. I miss those flashback scenes, but the decision to keep the movie solely in the present day was a smart and understandable one.

Otakus & Geeks: The main character Zoe has an addiction to sex. This is a character trait we rarely see in female characters in movies. Can you tell us a little bit about what can we expect from the female characters in this film?

Christina Welsh: You’ll see a relatable woman — successful, ambitious, a loving wife and mother — succumb to a serious addiction. You’ll see Zoe’s addiction play out — from the exciting early moments when she first gets hooked on her “drug” all the way through to her desperate need for more and more, and the reckless behavior that puts her business, her family and her life at risk … You’ll see an intelligent and compassionate female therapist — Dr. Marcella Spencer — who is trying to help Zoe deal with her addiction and discover the root cause … You’ll see Zoe’s mother Nina and her best friend and colleague Brina — both of whom love Zoe and can see she is struggling with a serious problem as they reach out to help her ... Some very strong female characters throughout …

Otakus & Geeks: What do you hope audiences will take away from the film?

Christina Welsh: I hope they will be entertained by a sexy, provocative, thrilling film — with a talented and great-looking cast — that packs a profound and emotional wallop in the end and ultimately has something to say about addicts and how addiction impacts loved ones …

Otakus & Geeks: Are there any other projects that you're currently working on that you can tell us about?

Christina Welsh: I have a new original feature film script — an erotic thriller, like ADDICTED — that is about to make the rounds in Hollywood. I am also developing an original TV series pitch with a director-producer. There has been some interest in a foreign language remake of IF ONLY, so I’m exploring that, too. Stay tuned!

Otakus & Geeks: Finally how can people keep in touch do you have a social network?

Lenni Reviews: Soda Pop Soldier by Nick Cole

In this dystopian future, companies hire gamers to battle it out for the rights to advertising space. After my initial hesitation and brief fit of hysteriucal laughter at the thought of eHarmony, Match.com, Christian Mingle, and Farmers Only battling out in a cage match for the right to inundate us with their insipid nonsense (Three-way battle between Papa Johns, Little Caesars, and Dominos? Would CiCi's buffet be an unexpected challenger? Man, I laughed for DAYS!), I started this book with a bit of guilt that I'm not a huge gamer and a healthy load of disbelief this concept would be pulled off in an enjoyable way.

The book is written well. You follow professional gamer PerfectQuestion as he struggles to win for his company, broke, cheating girlfriend, drinking a lot, and at the end of his rope; willing to join an illegal online gaming universe referred to as the Black. Things get out of hand and the online battle for his life spreads into the real world.

By no means is this a 'bad book.' Nick Cole has the writing chops to pull off the gaming action and PerfectQuestion's desperation, so the reading is nice and smooth. Cole's work reminds me of Jeff Somers' work (but Cole is MUCH less depressing). My only complaint perhaps would be it's 100+ pages in before PerfectQuestion is directly threatened. It was cool and all to see PerfectQuestion in action and get to know how his job works and how sick and twisted the Black is, but it seemed to me our protagonist should have met with the main conflict sooner.

Although, I certainly wasn't bored. I was pulled right into the world and loved every second. My hands were twiching for controller buttons and the descriptions left me fiending for some playtime with my consoles. I truly cared about PerfectQuestion, even without knowing his name. I clicked instantly with what Cole is saying about what the anonymity of being online does to people's behavior and how easily the consequences of that behavior can leak into your offline life. I had fun reading this; it was an unexpectedly enjoyable romp. If you're into tech heavy scifi, first person shooters, and the trials of just a normal guy trying to survive, I think you'll enjoy this book.

Can't get enough of Lenni's writing? See more here.

New Ongoing SPIDER-MAN & THE X-MEN Fills a Void

When Wolverine dies, it makes it a little difficult to have a book in present-day continuity called Wolverine and the X-Men. So, Marvel’s having that other ubiquitous character takeover for an all-new all-different series called: Spider-Man and the X-Men!

Announced Wednesday on Comicbook.com, the new series comes from writer Elliott Kalan and artist Marco Failla. While the name seems to imply Spider-Man’s in charge, it makes a little more sense than that: Spidey’s the guidance counselor! The series launches in December, and the first arc features a unique team-up: Sauron and Stegron the Dinosaur Man.

”The X-Men aren’t very happy with having Spider-Man involved with the school,” Kalan said in the announcement interview. “He’s not a mutant, and though he may be a friend of the X-Men, he’s not a member of the family.” However, it seems his placement was one of Wolverine’s wishes before he died.

The conflicts will come from within and without. Spider-Man has a mission to run for Wolverine with the X-Men, but also has reason to believe one of the kids at the school is a plant for the mutants’ enemies (something that’s happened more than once, even at this iteration of the school). And while the book won’t just be about Spider-Man fighting X-Men villains, “it’s super-awesome to make

Spidey fight X-villains,” Kalan admitted.
Fans of the younger generation of mutants shouldn’t worry about them being pushed to the background, though. “Time for Shark Girl and Glob Herman to take the main stage!” the writer said.

“I want to spotlight some of the newer X-men students who have been around for a little while but haven't gotten all of the attention I think they've deserved. The stars of this book are Spider-Man and his class of students. We'll see many of the other X-Men, but characters like Storm and Beast get plenty of attention.”
Spider-Man’s “special class” will consist of No-Girl, Rockslide, Glob Herman, Ernst, Hellion, Shark Girl, and Eye Boy, specifically, and Kalan says he’s “enjoying figuring out their voices and personalities.”

Indie Publisher Darkrose Studios Launches TRDWTR

Hey Otakus and Geeks here is some cool news for you from newcomers Darkrose Studios. Darkrose is a new comic publishing company that is getting ready to launch their new franchise TRDWTR (Technological Research and Development Working Toward a Resolution). Check out the details below.

TRDWTR is Darkrose Studios’ first title. It is a 30-part graphic novel series, set in a plausible geopolitical future. It follows a team of hi-tech special operatives, who have become the only force standing between hope and anarchy. The novel has been written and created by Morgan Rosenblum, founder of Darkrose Studios, and illustrated by Ray Dillon, best known for his work on Borderlands 2 and Game of Thrones. TRDWTR Issue One will premiere on Times Square, at the Midtown Comics book store on September 10th, 2014. Issue One is limited to 500 prints and will be sold at $4.99 per copy exclusively at Midtown Comics stores. TRDWTR Part One (containing issues 1 - 4) will become available on September 30th on Amazon.com and in brick-and-mortar stores nationwide a month thereafter. In addition to print publications, Darkrose Studios are also working on a live-action series based on the graphic novel. The teaser trailer of the live-action series which you can see below.

With the series in production since April 2014, Mr. Rosenblum aims to release the entire first season in mid- 2015. Along with the graphic novel and the live action series, the TRDWTR website also plays an important role in immersing TRDWTR fans into the story. It challenges them to become TRDWTR operatives and complete various real-world missions. Much in the style of the Command & Conquer game series, the missions are accompanied by live-action video clips of TRDWTR characters interacting with the players to debrief, congratulate and antagonize them. As a reward for completing these missions the players can unlock large portions of the graphic novel, as well as an animated motion comic voiced by the actors of the series. According to Morgan Rosenblum, the immersive storytelling experience that Darkrose Studios create for their fans set their titles apart from the other book launches. Mr. Rosenblum will be chairing a panel on the topics of trans-media storytelling and self-publishing at New York Comic Con in October 2014.
