Lenni Reviews: In These Words Chapter 6

***This book has adult content! You have been warned!***

After many hours of swagbucks, I finally got enough gift cards to get the next chapter of In These Words by Guiltpleasure from Kobo. I'm a little annoyed I can't get it in print but I'm not willing to wait for more chapters to come out to make another print volume and the digital copies look effing fantastic in my iPad so it's all worth it.

Mild spoilers ahead here. Nothing too big because you need to go read this.

After the EPIC cliffhanger from volume one, Keiji is loose in the house with Katsuya and the only cop guarding them incapacitated - possibly dead - giving Keiji all the time in the word to do whatever he wants with the doctor he claims to love. And thanks to the cop's handy dandy taser, Katsuya is at the mercy of whatever this psycho murderer has in mind.

Once again, I cannot stress the amount of smut in this book. It is beautifully unflinching. The chapter is short, so there isn't much time for Keiji and Katsuya to have that intriguing interplay they had in volume one, but it takes no time at all for Keiji to meet Lecter levels of creepy. I am dying to find out what happens next but I also kinda don't because it just won't seem to end well for Katsuya.

Despite not having paper to hold in my hands, I am so glad I can nab these chapters as they come out. They're a little pricey ($6.99-$7.99) but hey, they got me to buy the first 6 chapters. I think you should, too.

Marvel To Relaunch The Ultimate Universe With Three New Series From Bendis, Marquez, Fialkov, Fiffe And More

It's been fourteen years since Marvel launched it's Ultimate line of comics, with the goal of establishing a universe in which its characters wer younger and modern, and where many of the continuity restrictions of the established Marvel line didn't apply. Over that time, many changes have been made and several significant characters have died. Most notably Peter Parker, who was replaced in the role of Spider Man by young hero Miles Morales.

Now, the Ultimate line will once again embrace change. Following the conclusion of the current line wide Cataclysm event- featuring the heroes of that universe facing off against Galactus. Marvel has announced Ultimate Marvel Now , an initiative that will see a new direction and new titles from creators Brian Michael Bendis, David Marquez, Joshua Hale Fialkov, Michel Fiffe and more.

It all begins in April, following the final issue of Cataclyms, which leads into the line's new look. They're able to win the day, but at great sacrifice, a sacrifice that is so huge that it changes the langscape, " Cataclysm  writer Bendis told the AP. It creates a place that demands a fresh start from everyone who surveys it. " Bendis and Marquez, the team behind the current Ultimate Comic Spider Man, will continue their work with Miles Morales in the new Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man, with the writer noting that the character's " entire  life as a human being has changed. "

In addition to his solo title, Morales will lead a team of young heroes in the series All-New Ultimates, written by Fiffe, whose work of the self published Copra we've covered extensively, and illustrated by Amilcar Pinna. The team will also include Kitty Pryde, Bombshell, Cloak and Dagger, and the new black Widow. " In the All New Ultimates, we'll see this eclectic group of super-powered teens step up, live fast and maybe die hard," says series editor Mark Paniccia.

And the third title will be Ultimate FF. Writen by Joshua Hale Fialkov and illustrated by Mario Guevara, Ultimate FF will focus on the core members of the future foundation, " a team of geniuses, four of the smartest people in the  Ultimate universe, " according to Fialkov. The team includes Sue Storm and Tony Starks, among others, and one missing member who Fialkov described as " a psychopath."

" Once again, we're destroying something and building something new, but there's an end game in sight," says Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso. We created the line to take a chance."

" The long and short of it isthis: The Ultimate (universe) benefits from a good, old kick in the butt."

Moment Mobile Lens

Two effective ways for phone photographers to enhance their images

As the phone continues to become the most widely used camera in the Western world, we've seen everything from moldable tripods and clever lens adaptors to the comical monopod selfie-assister. Though the most notable accessory for phone photography right now comes from Moment, a new clip-on lens company launching today on Kickstarter. Moment plans to offer a wide-angle lens for capturing surroundings without cropping, and a 70mm equivalent telephoto lens ideal for close up portraits and far off subjects—eliminating the risk of relying on dreadful digital zoom. The glass in both lenses is purpose-built, promising the best possible optic quality. The case-compatible lenses mount with a two piece metal ring and bayonet system which is hardly noticeable on your phone when the lenses aren't in use. And, on top of function, each lens barrel is machined in aluminum for a sleek finish that melds especially well with the iPhone.

With two models in their quiver already, the young brand seems poised to make an impact on the way we use our phone cameras. Visit the Moment campaign on Kickstarter to support the project and ensure you're one of the first to receive the handy new lenses.

Hideo Kojima Shows Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Actually Running on PS4

Legendary Metal Gear Solid director Hideo Kojima has been testing the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes lately, and today he showcased something PS4 fans will possibly appreciate.
Apparently the code is already running on Sony’s new console and Kojima-san tweeted a picture of the dashboard ready to launch the game, followed  by what seems to be either a loading screen or the initial splash screen (you can see that one below).

The first picture was accompanied by the line “Today too “I start,” in Japanese, while the s second came with a simple “Begin.”
Unfortunately Kazuhira “Kaz” Miller will probably disappear from the same screens in the western versions of the game just as he did from the box art.

Update: The English versions of the same tweets included Kojima’s own translation: “Here we “begin” again today.” And “And starting.” That probably identifies the second image as the initial splash screen, that could possibly be a work in progress.

Andrew Lincoln & Walking Dead Fan Zombie Prank Norman Reedus

With help from Andrew Lincoln and Greg Nicotero, The Walking Dead’s “ultimate fan” Nick Santonastasso just zombie-pranked Norman Reedus while he was promoting the back half of the season in Toyko. 17-year old Nick, was born with a rare syndrome called Hanhart and has only one arm and no legs. His determination and infectious zest for life have enabled him to overcome countless obstacles and he has now become an inspiration for many kids and adults. Because of his outspoken love for “The Walking Dead,” Nick was the perfect fan to launch the “#getFOXed” campaign. Check out the prank and some behind the scenes stills below.

A Few Reasons Andrea Should Still Be Alive on The Walking Dead Show

I' am a huge fan of The Walking Dead show. I love what the show has done so far. However there is one thing I didn't like about the show and that was how Andrea was portrayed on the show. This has nothing to do with Laurie Holden who played Andrea. This has to do with how the show and the people behind the scenes decided what direction Andrea would go. One thing I hear from people is that they're happy Andrea is dead. I usually ask them after that statement if they ever read the comics. Usually the response to that question is no. The Andrea that appear on the show is a totally different character from the Andrea that appears in the comics. From this point on the article will contain spoilers from the comics and the show. If you don't want spoilers from the comics and television show STOP NOW!

One complaint many had with Andrea was her relationship with The Governor. Many people hated how blinded she was not seeing how evil he was. The Andrea in the comics would've suspected The Governor right away. The Andrea in the comics is a strong woman, opinonated and very smart. She is a key figure and voice in the group. Andrea on the show was very weak minded, made careless mistakes and fans really couldn't connect with her. Regardless on how Andrea was portrayed on the show I feel that she was killed prematurely. Andrea on the show didn't really get a chance to develop into the bad ass fans of the comics know her for. Here is a couple of reasons why Andrea should have lived.

Romantic Relationship With Rick
When Andrea was killed off on the show I immediately said well I guess Rick will find solace somewhere else. Andrea and Rick are a great match for each other in this post apocalyptic world. Andrea is headstrong. She keeps Rick in line when he loses it and she has become his battery to keep going when he is feeling down. Not to mention her relationship with Carl has grown over time. It would've been great to see the chemistry between these two characters on the small screen.

She's A Great Asset In Battle

I can't think of anyone else I would want watching my back with a gun than Andrea. Her sharpshooting skills are one of the best in the comics. She also has a keen eye when it comes to sniping and is best utlizing in high areas. Check the Alexandria story arc when she saved Rick from a group trying to take over. One of the major disappointments of the show is that they didn't depict how good Andrea was with guns. The show did reveal a few glimpses of her skill, but didn't really show deadly she can be.

She's A Great Character

Besides Michonne who is one of the most popular female characters in The Walking Dead. I find Andrea character more interesting. I love Andrea' s backstory and how Andrea was introduce with her sister Amy, then to have Amy die was a great introduction. She found solace in prison when she began a relationship with Dale. Dale showed her that not all hope was lost and she began to really grow as a person. She started voicing her opinons and became more tougher with the group. This is something I wish the showed did with Andrea but never did. I feel that the show didn't really explore her story and flesh out her character enough. When her death happen on the show we heard more cheers than cries. Andrea is a great character with an amazing arc that wasn't given proper justice.

What do you think? Do you think Andrea was killed off prematurely? Did her death on the show mean anything? Let us know in the comment section.

Pandora: End of Days Vol 1 & 2 (Manga Review)

Title - Pandora: End of Days Vol 1 & Vol 2
Author - Peter J. Ang
Illustrator - Jin Song Kim
Pages - 200

Story - The most amazing archaeological discovery of our time-- a sarcophagus from an ancient civilization that predates the Egyptian Pyramids by more than fifty thousand years--is being broadcast as a live public exhibit on national TV. But in their haste to reveal a glimpse of what could be the origin of mankind, the scholars of the OBARI Foundation instead unleash an ancient plague upon the modern world. This is the age-old story of the curious--and of those who must race to close the door on what should never have been opened . . .
If you're a fan of apocalyptic stories like Resident Evil, High School of The Dead and various other end of days tales this one might be for you. Unlike other zombie stories where the origin of the outbreak is unknown. Pandora makes the outbreak clear in the first volume. As stated in the synoposis an archaeological discovery is found by the company Obari. The company is in a rush to display the discovery to the world, however nobody but one professor is aware of it's contents. The professor tries to warn his fellow collegues not to open the artifact but they refuse to listen. Fast forward to the presentation the artifact is open and a ancient creature is found. From that point on all hell breaks loose. For the sake of spoilers I won't go into more detail about the plot. However I will say that right from the beginning the story grabs you and doesn't let go. Intense is a word that comes to mind when I think of Pandora: End of Days. The story has two great main leads Jet a miltary solider trying to survive this outbreak and protect his team. Jet reminded me a lot of Leon S. Kenndey from Resident Evil. His characteristics are of a man who is noble, willing to do what he must to survive but clearly lives by a strict moral code.

The other main protagonist is Katie the daughter of the professor that was aware of the outbreak. I like how Katie's character was written and the way she is introduce. We first meet Katie hours later into the outbreak, she is on a mission to find her father and retrieve a flash drive with vital information on the outbreak. Not to compare this series to Resident Evil but Katie reminded a lot of Claire. She's a woman put in a horrible situation looking for a family member and ends up meeting someone of the law Jet. The relationship between Katie and Jet is not fully explored in the first two volumes as the first two volumes are served as an introduction. However both characters have a sense of purpose and a goal to not only survive but to find the answers to the sarcophagus. If I have one complaint is the lack of backstory on the two main leads. We get a sense of the characters ideals and moral code but who are they? How did Jet get into the miltary? Where is Katie's mother? These type of questions I hope will be answered in future volumes. Overall the story is on the right path to being a great series. It has a different take on the zombie apocalypse, has likeable characters and it's set in present day New Jersey.

Art - The art style is simply amazing. Pandora: End of Days pays a lot of attention to detail. Usually in a standard comic book there panel are divided five per page. However Pandora usually splits their pages two panels each. This gives much more room for details and makes the story that much more intense. The little details like the comics own version of Twitter on a person's computer is really appericated and allows the reader to be immerse in the world more.

Final Grade B+/8.5: Pandora: End of Days Vol 1 and 2 is a great read. The premise of a doomsday
is set, the main cast is in place but needs to be developed more. This take on a zombie apocalypse is refreshing and it's nice to know the origin of the outbreak.

Lenni Reviews: My Thoughts on the Witch Craze

**This is cross posted from my own blog.**

PicMonkey Collage

Now that American Horror Story: Coven and Witches of East End have been out for awhile, this witch thinks it's time to address what bothers me about these shows both as a fan and a practicing witch.

Both shows start on the premise that women suddenly come in to powers they didn't know they had and have to be taught how to use them. They seem to start on that journey but then all of a sudden, they are just slinging spells all over the place and have no freaking clue what they're doing or what the consequences will be. People die, come back to life, die again, come back as shades and don't know what they are, portals to places get ripped open, and nobody seems to give a rat's ass as they do these things. The "I found out I was a witch yesterday so now I'm gonna just do whatever" mentality bugs me because (ESPECIALLY in Coven because they are in what is supposed to be a school and made a big damn deal about what learning witchcraft would entail) there is so much drama going on in the background, it's seemed to turn into a soap opera with magic.

This isn't to say the shows aren't enjoyable. I am hooked. I have to know what happens next. But if I think about how the shows started, I wonder where that plot line went and if they are ever going to bring it back. I enjoy wondering who The Supreme is (Coven) or who is in this other world full of witches (East End) but the character development the first few episodes promised never happened. So, how are these characters supposed to withstand the trials ahead when they're just as woefully unprepared as they were in the first episode? Are they all of a sudden gonna level up to 9000 just to wrap up the plot? And it certainly doesn't present a good view of real witches painting them as flighty manipulators who reach for their spell books without thinking.

Now, I certainly didn't expect anyone to hold hands and sing We Are The World or anything in these shows. There is nothing to watch if there isn't any conflict. But part of this experience is to see the characters grow and change; and that includes some sort of actual teaching happening on camera. And none of that has happened yet. All the characters have some sort of deus ex machina-esque sudden knowledge of what they're doing - and it's rarely complete and frequently blows up in their faces. As these shows go on, I would like to see some sort of training of the fledgling witches in these shows. It would showcase witchcraft as a CRAFT, a skill which must be honed and practiced, AND it would give the characters a chance to grow their powers through the plot instead of on the fly when its convenient. I don't want Hogwarts, but I want these witches to learn SOMETHING.
