Five DC Characters Dwayne "The Rock "Johnson Will Be Great As

In recent news Dwayne Johnson tweeted that he had a big meeting with Warner Bros CEO in regards to DC Comics. People have already speculated that he might be involved in the upcoming Batman vs Superman movie in someway. However if this is the case who can the great one portray in the Man of Steel universe. Five characters come to mind when I think of Dwayne Johnson and his acting ability. Check it out.

The Tweet

John Stewart/Green Lantern

Johnson has had plenty experience of playing the tough guy see his role in Fast 6 and even G.I. Joe Retaliation. I think Johnson can pull off John Stewart if he is chosen for the role. He has enough range to depict a solider and a no nonsense Green Lantern. However he might have to slim down a bit and get back to way his body was back in Wrestlemania 18 era.

Lobo

One thing we can't deny about Johnson is that he has a lot of charmisa and energy. In order to play a character like "The Main Man" you're gonna need a lot of energy, charmisa and charm to bring him to life. We seen in the film "Pain & Gain" that Johnson can make us laugh with his delivery and he can also be serious as we seen in "Snitch." Johnson is already well built to play Lobo so his figure shouldn't be a problem.

Black Adam

Johnson is a really lovable guy so to see him to take on the villain role with Black Adam will be welcomed. He sort of play the villain in "Doom" but his skills as an actor has progress over the years. I think he will make a great villain given the right material and adversary in Henry Cavill's Superman.

Photoshop Picture of Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam

Martian Manhunter

One of the most least talked about members of the Justice League is Martian Manhunter. Honestly I think if Johnson was cast for this role it will give Manhunter more exposure in the mainstream. Manhunter is one of the key figures in the Justice League and an important one. It will be about time he gets the live action treatment that he deserves.

Black Manta

If Aquaman is going to be featured in the DC film universe then he will need a worthy adversary. Black Manta is the character that fits the bill. Aquaman is going need some star power if the film is going to be successful. Who else better than Dwayne Johnson to headline the film.

Ten of The Best Cartoon Shows From Disney In The 90's

Today I was feeling the nostalgic bug, because I was having a conversation with my friends about cartoons from the 90's. Last March I wrote an article entitled "Why Cartoons of The 90's Rule" (/www.otakusandgeeks.com/akusandgeeks.com/2012/03/why-cartoons-of-90s-rule.html) but this time I wanted to dedicate my time to one particular company that really had some great toons in the 90's. Disney just like Nickelodeon ruled my childhood in the 90's. As a mid 80's baby I had the pleasure of growing up with cartoons like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Swat Kats, Captain Planet and many more. While most cartoons of the 90's was special in it's own way Disney had something that just stayed. Here is my pick of ten of the best cartoon shows from Disney in the 90's.

1. Ducktales

You can't talk about the 90's era of Disney cartoons without mentioning Ducktales. Ducktales is one of the greatest cartoons of the 90's era for many reasons. Ducktales had great characters, moral themes and a theme song that will never leave you. However what really made Ducktales standout is it's protagonist Scoorge Mcduck. Scoorge was always a pleasure to watch whether he was being a wise guy or being a family man with this nephews. Scoorge was somebody you could count on when the chips were down and it was always great to see what the next adventure would be.

2. Darkwing Duck
I am the terror that flaps in the night. I am the ingrown toenail on the foot of crime. I am the zit that forms when you've got a really big date. I am the impacted wisdom tooth... I am Darkwing Duck. How can you not love a crime fighter who introduces himself to his adversary every time? Darkwing Duck is actually my favorite cartoon from Disney. What I loved so much about it was the characters and Darkwing's interaction with the villains. I loved how every week I didn't know which villain will be the adversary. I remember I had to wait weeks for a Liquidator episode or a Negaduck episode. Darkwing's stories were fun but really heartwarming when it came to his interaction with his adopted daughter and it's a series I won't forget.

3. Chip N Dale Resuce Rangers

Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers was one of Disney best creations. Think of The Hardy Boys with two chipmunks, a mice, a mouse and fly and you have Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers. Chip N Dale wasn't just a great kid's detective show but the first few episodes had a lot of heart. I still remember the pain of Gadget telling the story about her father's passing. The show had one of the most entertaining Disney villains Fat Cat. I love how Fat Cat was like a mob boss of the city always committing some crime and plotting evil deeds.

4. Goof Troop

Goof Troop did something that we hadn't seen in the classic Disney cartoons of the 50's and 60's. Goof Troop took one of it's most iconic characters and made him a family man. For once we got to see Goofy live a normal live raising his son Max and dealing with everyday stuff.

5. Gummi Bears

This show had me looking in supermarkets as a child for the famous Gummi Bear juice. One thing I love about Gummi Bears was set in the medieval times. This show had kings, queens and knights and some pretty good action scenes for it's time. It wasn't the most popular toon but it was definately different from the rest.

6. Gargoyles

There is a reason Gargoyles has such a cult follwing. One of the reasons was the amazing animation and cool character design. The animation and tone reminded me of Batman TAS especially the antagonist David Xanatos. Xanatos designs remind of the same look Batman TAS had.

7. Recess

There has never been a show like Recess that has captured the joys of lunch time break we all waited for during class. Recess was the total package of a cartoon that kids can relate too. You had the insecurity of being different, politics between the older students and younger students and of course the experience of your first kiss. Recess had a great cast not just with the inital group of T.J. and the gang but also with supporting cast like King Bob. Recess needs to come back for a whole new generation.

8. Aladdin

One of the best Disney movies also had a hit cartoon series. Aladdin continue the adventures of Aladdin, Jasmine and Genie as they deal with problems and threats in Agrabah. My favorite epsiode was when Jasmine had some competition for Aladdin's heart.

9. Talespin

Sky Pirates and an awesome sidekick in Kit made Talespin a great show. You can't talk about classic 90's cartoons without mentioning Talespin.

10. Pepper-Ann

On Saturday mornings I would watch the Disney cartoon block on ABC. Pepper-Ann was one of those that I truly enjoy. While Recess focuses on the playground, Pepper-Ann focused on the life a junior high school girl. It gave a nice outlook on what a junior highschool girl might be thinking and feeling at the time.

That wraps it up for our choices for ten best cartoon shows from Disney in the 90's. What is your favorite Disney cartoon from the 90's and what will be in your top ten. Let us know in the comment section.

Lenni Reviews: World War Z: Book vs Movie

I'm usually late to the party for things like this so bear with me here. I'm just gonna leap into the fray of bajillions of other people who have already discussed this to death.

When I went to see this movie, I haddn't read the book. That may be #1 of nerd sins but give me a break, my "Want To Read" list is 400+ books deep. My opinion of the movie wasn't colored by the book and I STILL thought it was funny for all the wrong reasons. The scenes that should have been tense came off slow and there are so many holes in the plot, it couldn't protect you from a horde of zombies any better than a NERF gun. The movie's only saving grace was the visuals of waves of zombies rolling over one another like fire ants.

After reading the book, I am extra pissed at the movie. Max Books did a fantastic job of writing harrowing accounts from a wide range of perspectives (scientists, politicians, regular people, and feral children) in a gripping and at times heart-breaking story of the fallout of the zombie wars. There were parts where I cried because I was truly touched or horrified.

In comparison, there were parts of the movie where I cried... From laughter.

So, now that I have seen what has been done to the original source material, I would LOVE to put forth this challenge to the entertainment industry: Make a version true to the book in the vein (no pun intended here) of Interview with the Vampire or Forrest Gump. The real-time interviews interspersed with flashbacks is a formula that obviously works. Get to it, Hollywood! You know it would be awesome.

Lenni Reviews: Dr. Sleep by Stephen King

As a fan of Stephen King's work, I am certain my fangirl-ish squeel of glee could be heard far and wide when I heard Dr. Sleep came out. As a sequel to The Shining, I was super excited to find out the fate of Daniel Torrence, the child with the Shining gift now all grown up.

A recovering alcoholic; Danny works as an orderly in a hospice, using his gifts to help comfort the dying and earning the nickname Dr. Sleep. As he gets his life together, he starts to receive messages from another with a talent like his own; a young girl named Abra Stone. Abra's abilities are so strong, she attracts the attention of a group called the True Knot; who feeds off children with the Shining. The two of them must battle to stop them from devouring Abra and continuing to hunt these special children.

This book is best read if you have read The Shining first; although it stands alone as a perfectly thrilling book. Unless you read the first one, you won't get the REDRUM and Daniel's alcoholism provides much more of an emotional punch when you read in the first book about his father.

Simply put, I could not put this book down. I am such a fan of King and his writing that I have actually avoided reading his books for awhile because then I'd have to go and read 10 more; some of which would be the second or third time I've read the book. Abra is an amazing little girl; a character I wouldn't mind reading more about in the future. The True Knot are pretty damn terrifying and I had a white-knuckle grip on my tablet, anxious to read what comes next. (see here why I read this book on a tablet because the physical book was too big to carry around)

Dr. Sleep really gets to the point even though it comes in at a whopping (well, not whopping for King, anyway) 544 pages. I am thankful for this because King can really delve into detail which is great sometimes but... Let's just say I never made it through the extended cut of The Stand. There was so much back story, I hadda give it up. And while I won't spoil the ending, this King fan can safely say it is a very satisfying conclusion. This book is a very worthy successor and I do truly wonder if we will hear more of Abra in the future.

Dawn of The Planet of The Apes Trailer

Hail Caeser! The teaser trailer for Dawn of The Planet of The Apes was released today. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth's dominant species.
