Another Review

In 1972, a very popular honor student named Misaki died partway through the school year in Yomiyama North Middle School's class 3-3. The rest of the students, devastated by the unexpected loss, decided to carry on as if their classmate were still alive, going so far as to keep the desk in place and bringing it to the graduation ceremony. Yet no one could explain why their classmate, already dead and buried, was present on the graduation photo. Then, in the spring of 1998, a boy named Kouichi Sakakibara transfers to that classroom, and he grows suspicious of the fearful atmosphere in that classroom. In particular, there is a beautiful, aloof girl named Mei Misaki who wears an eyepatch and is always alone drawing pictures.

The Challenges Of The DC Cinematic Universe

With "Man Of Steel" a box office success Warner Bros can now move forward onto building a DC cinematic universe like Marvel has. There is no mistaking that Warner Bros has they work cut out for them with mix feelings on the Man Of Steel film and other challenges of how to incorporate the Justice League into this world. I wanted to examine the challenges that Warner Bros and DC will face to establish a successful cinematic universe like Marvel. Can they overcome these challenges? It will need the right film crew, right actors and right directors to make this a success.

Challenge 1: Introducing A New Batman
As many of us know Christian Bale will not be returning to take up the cowl. When ask about the Justice League movie he states”I have no information, no knowledge about anything. I’ve literally not had a conversation with a living soul. I understand that they may be making a Justice League movie, that’s it. It’s a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with.” Many kids, teens and even adults of this generation have made Bale the definitive Batman, just like the past generation made Michael Keaton the definitive Batman. Introducing a new Batman three years after "The Dark Knight Rises" will take some time for die hard fans of the Nolan trilogy to adjust. The new Batman might a need a new telling of his origins since this universe will not be connected to Nolan trilogy. Seriously who wants to see Batman's origins again after it was established very well by Nolan? The new Batman is going have to be written very carefully and most importantly cast carefully. If Batman is not written well or he is miscast in the upcoming Batman/Superman movie, we can kiss this universe goodbye.

Challenge 2: The Realistic Approach
Warner Bros is approaching the DC cinematic universe with a little bit realism. As seen in the "Man Of Steel" the approach is what would happen if this happen in real life. This approach while interesting also needs to be proceeded with caution. By grounding the characters into a realistic approach you will sacrifice certain characters, villains and story arcs that fans will love to see because it's not realistic in our world, a great example of this is Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. In Nolan's trilogy you couldn't see characters like The Penguin, Riddler, Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze, Mad Hatter because it wouldn't fit into the realistic tone Nolan was going for. Hell Bane couldn't even use the venom in this world. The realistic approach is a huge challenge because it can take away key elements that define a character. How can they explain the Green Lanterns in a realistic world? How can they explain Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Doomsday, Darkseid and other characters and ground them? Some characters require a little fantasy or sci-fi for the backstory, powers or interaction to be developed, if that part is grounded or sacrifice how can we have an accurate depiction on the characters.

Challenge 3: Introducing The Justice League
The ultimate goal for the DC Cinematic is to bring all the characters into one big Justice League movie. However not all DC Characters are big money draws, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Jon Stewart Green Lantern will all be successful films if only it's marketed and done correctly, but will Aquaman, Martian The Manhunter, Green Arrow and Cyborg bring in the 200 million mark if they have a standalone films? How are Warner Bros and DC going introduce each character? Will they give each character a movie, or will everyone make an cameo in the Batman/Superman movie? Marvel was fortunate to have heroes like Thor and Iron Man to become mega hits but will DC have the same luck. Just like anything in film the story, direction and cast will be have to be a home run. "Man Of Steel" had an amazing cast and if Warner Bros is able to recruit quality actors and quality writers we won't have to worry.

Challenge 4: Marvel Cinematic Universe
There is no doubt whatever Warner Bros and DC do it will be compare to the successful Marvel universe. However the challenge here is actually not to rush to play catch up, but take steps to ensure that this universe is not only successful but just as good or better than Marvel's.

X-men Days of Future Past- First look at the Sentinels

Lenni Reviews - Noble V: Greylancer by Hideyuki Kikuchi

This novel is supposed to tell the story of the Three Thousand Year War from the Vampire Hunter D universe. Greylancer; vampire noble named for his weapon, is tasked with defending his race from anti-noble rebels and Outer Space Beings (aka: OSB's).

I tried so hard to like this book. I enjoy Vampire Hunter D. It's one of my favorite animes but this book was so boring, I couldn't finish it. As a scifi geek, I found the holes in this book too large to ignore. People, places, and events pop in and out and you don't know why or if they were even important. I was so bored, I couldn't bring myself to care about anything anyway. There is nothing about the book that gives me the same sense as the anime or the comics of a dry landscape where humans struggle to survive in contrast with the decadent nobles who rule them.

In general, this is a far cry from any book I've read set in this universe. I couldn't wait to put it down so I could go read something else. I'd skip this one if I were you, friends.

Can't get enough of Lenni's writing? See more here.

Uta No Prince Sama Maji Love 1000% & 2000% Review

I am into Japanese Dating Sims and I have to say there are a couple that have peeked my interests (one that is on the PSP and in Japanese) and others that are a cross between an RPG and Dating Sim such as the Persona games. This show however I am infatuated with and it had me watching every episode in the first season then had me watch the second season till episode 8. I am almost done with the second season but I will still talk about the series up until the point I watched. Enjoy. ^-^

Synopsis: Uta No Prince Sama Maji Love 1000% is a singing anime. It follows the story of a girl named Haruka who wants more than anything but to have her idol sing one of her songs. So she enrolls in a Perfoming Arts Academy in order to make her wish come true. In fact destiny plays a role in this because part of her assignment is to compose music for another partner and she has to choose between six guys that are all supertalented, not to mention super good looking! The story picks up from that in the sequal Uta No Prince Sama Maji Love 2000% where a new guy shows up and the story progresses from there where Haruka has another challenge, which includes the other boy coming into the fray. No spoilers about this. If you want to know more, the episodes are on www.crunchyroll.com.

Music- The music in the show is grade A work. I love the songs and in each series, the boys have their own character songs. They are wonderful. I love Toykia's songs (partially because he is my favorite of everyone). The music is so good and the piano instrumental for both openings is beautiful.

Animation- The animation is gorgous and it works well with the bright colors of the scenes. It is a beautiful anime to look like (especially the boys). The animation for the dancing is awesome and my friend and I do the dance at the end of the episode. ^-^

Overal Grade: A+
It has a great music and great animation. Even though the story is linear, its hard to tell which boy Haruka would go with and even with that, each character is unique and have a great backstory. Plus each charcter is relatable and people will fall in love with the guy they are most compatible with. Its a great show and I wish more people watched this show. I recommend this show to anyone who have watched Ouran High School Host Club since Uta reminds me of it. If you haven't watched Ouran, than I also recommmend watching that as well. It's another great show.

Thank you for reading my review and keep watch of more anime reviews in the future!!!! Anime Rules!!!!!!

LIEV SCHREIBER TO HOST NEW PBS SERIES "SUPERHEROES: A NEVER-ENDING BATTLE

PBS announced today that American actor, producer, director and screenwriter Liev Schreiber (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” Showtime’s “Ray Donovan”) will be the on-camera host for the upcoming series SUPERHEROES: A NEVER-ENDING BATTLE, which premieres October 8, 2013 at 9:00 p.m. ET.
Schreiber also narrates the series, which is the subject of a panel this week at Comic-Con® International: San Diego. Attendees will get a sneak peek at the groundbreaking series and hear a discussion on the documentary with panelists, including Emmy-winning filmmaker Michael Kantor (MAKE ‘EM LAUGH: THE FUNNY BUSINESS OF AMERICA; BROADWAY: THE AMERICAN MUSICAL) and series co-writer Laurence Maslon, along with acclaimed comic book writer Gerry Conway (co-creator of the Punisher, and writer of the landmark “Death of Gwen Stacy” Spider-Man story), and Eisner Award-winning writer Mark Waid (renowned for Kingdom Come and his run on The Flash).

SUPERHEROES: A NEVER-ENDING BATTLE is the first documentary to examine the dawn of the comic book genre and its powerful legacy, as well as the evolution of the characters who leapt from the pages over the last 75 years and their ongoing worldwide cultural impact. It chronicles how these “disposable diversions” were subject to intense government scrutiny for their influence on American children and how they were created in large part by the children of immigrants whose fierce loyalty to a new homeland laid the foundation for a multi-billion-dollar industry that is an influential part of our national identity. Among the notable on-camera talents in the film are Stan Lee, Adam West, Lynda Carter, Pulitzer Prize winners Michael Chabon and Jules Feiffer, and interviews with the late greats Joe Simon (co-creator of Captain America) and Jerry Robinson (who helped create the Joker).
“A show about superheroes needs a superhuman force to lead it; Liev Schreiber was perfectly cast as Sabretooth in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine,’ and he is the perfect host for this series,” said Michael Kantor, filmmaker behind

SUPERHEROES: A NEVER-ENDING BATTLE and president of Ghost Light Films. “Liev’s commanding presence takes us through 75 years of heroes and villains --both in print and in real-life-- as well as the multifaceted, multimedia industry whose characters continue to enthrall Americans and fans all over the world. We promise that after watching this series, no parent will ever dare to throw away their kid’s comic books again…”

The three episodes in SUPERHEROES are:

“Truth, Justice, and the American Way” (1938-1958) – October 8, 2013, 9:00 p.m. ET
During the Depression, the popularity of dozens of superhero characters opens the door for a new generation of artists and writers. World War II creates a patriotic fervor for star-spangled adventurers to represent the American spirit at war and on the home front, but in the 1950s, superheroes are caught in the fire of government scrutiny and regulation. When the thrilling “Adventures of Superman” is broadcast on the new medium of television, America’s first and greatest superhero leads the entire comic book industry to renewed strength.

“Great Power, Great Responsibility” (1959-1977) October 15, 2013, 9:00 p.m. ET
A new breed of superhero emerges in the 1960s, inspired by the age of atomic energy and space travel and, in turn, inspiring artists of the time. The pop art movement draws heavily on comic books, with superhero images appearing in the works of Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. Civil rights in America and other social issues make their way onto the page as black superheroes emerge with powerhouses such as the Black Panther and Luke Cage. The pages of “Green Lantern/Green Arrow” address social issues in their relevant storylines, and comic books are forced to confront the reality of an increasingly complex world.

“A Hero Can Be Anyone” (1978-Present) October 22, 2013, 9:00 p.m. ET
This episode captures the enthusiasm for superheroes as they are embraced in all forms of media and by all demographics, beginning with the historic “Superman” movie featuring Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel. In 1986, Batman is overhauled as The Dark Knight to reflect the nocturnal underside of his character, and Watchmen brings new sophistication to comic book narratives, illuminating a violent and politicized world. In the burgeoning new millennium, superheroes have taken over popular culture with feature films, television shows and video games complementing a new generation of web-based comics that bring superhero adventures to every corner of the world.
