Uta No Prince Sama Maji Love 1000% & 2000% Review

I am into Japanese Dating Sims and I have to say there are a couple that have peeked my interests (one that is on the PSP and in Japanese) and others that are a cross between an RPG and Dating Sim such as the Persona games. This show however I am infatuated with and it had me watching every episode in the first season then had me watch the second season till episode 8. I am almost done with the second season but I will still talk about the series up until the point I watched. Enjoy. ^-^

Synopsis: Uta No Prince Sama Maji Love 1000% is a singing anime. It follows the story of a girl named Haruka who wants more than anything but to have her idol sing one of her songs. So she enrolls in a Perfoming Arts Academy in order to make her wish come true. In fact destiny plays a role in this because part of her assignment is to compose music for another partner and she has to choose between six guys that are all supertalented, not to mention super good looking! The story picks up from that in the sequal Uta No Prince Sama Maji Love 2000% where a new guy shows up and the story progresses from there where Haruka has another challenge, which includes the other boy coming into the fray. No spoilers about this. If you want to know more, the episodes are on www.crunchyroll.com.

Music- The music in the show is grade A work. I love the songs and in each series, the boys have their own character songs. They are wonderful. I love Toykia's songs (partially because he is my favorite of everyone). The music is so good and the piano instrumental for both openings is beautiful.

Animation- The animation is gorgous and it works well with the bright colors of the scenes. It is a beautiful anime to look like (especially the boys). The animation for the dancing is awesome and my friend and I do the dance at the end of the episode. ^-^

Overal Grade: A+
It has a great music and great animation. Even though the story is linear, its hard to tell which boy Haruka would go with and even with that, each character is unique and have a great backstory. Plus each charcter is relatable and people will fall in love with the guy they are most compatible with. Its a great show and I wish more people watched this show. I recommend this show to anyone who have watched Ouran High School Host Club since Uta reminds me of it. If you haven't watched Ouran, than I also recommmend watching that as well. It's another great show.

Thank you for reading my review and keep watch of more anime reviews in the future!!!! Anime Rules!!!!!!

LIEV SCHREIBER TO HOST NEW PBS SERIES "SUPERHEROES: A NEVER-ENDING BATTLE

PBS announced today that American actor, producer, director and screenwriter Liev Schreiber (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” Showtime’s “Ray Donovan”) will be the on-camera host for the upcoming series SUPERHEROES: A NEVER-ENDING BATTLE, which premieres October 8, 2013 at 9:00 p.m. ET.
Schreiber also narrates the series, which is the subject of a panel this week at Comic-Con® International: San Diego. Attendees will get a sneak peek at the groundbreaking series and hear a discussion on the documentary with panelists, including Emmy-winning filmmaker Michael Kantor (MAKE ‘EM LAUGH: THE FUNNY BUSINESS OF AMERICA; BROADWAY: THE AMERICAN MUSICAL) and series co-writer Laurence Maslon, along with acclaimed comic book writer Gerry Conway (co-creator of the Punisher, and writer of the landmark “Death of Gwen Stacy” Spider-Man story), and Eisner Award-winning writer Mark Waid (renowned for Kingdom Come and his run on The Flash).

SUPERHEROES: A NEVER-ENDING BATTLE is the first documentary to examine the dawn of the comic book genre and its powerful legacy, as well as the evolution of the characters who leapt from the pages over the last 75 years and their ongoing worldwide cultural impact. It chronicles how these “disposable diversions” were subject to intense government scrutiny for their influence on American children and how they were created in large part by the children of immigrants whose fierce loyalty to a new homeland laid the foundation for a multi-billion-dollar industry that is an influential part of our national identity. Among the notable on-camera talents in the film are Stan Lee, Adam West, Lynda Carter, Pulitzer Prize winners Michael Chabon and Jules Feiffer, and interviews with the late greats Joe Simon (co-creator of Captain America) and Jerry Robinson (who helped create the Joker).
“A show about superheroes needs a superhuman force to lead it; Liev Schreiber was perfectly cast as Sabretooth in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine,’ and he is the perfect host for this series,” said Michael Kantor, filmmaker behind

SUPERHEROES: A NEVER-ENDING BATTLE and president of Ghost Light Films. “Liev’s commanding presence takes us through 75 years of heroes and villains --both in print and in real-life-- as well as the multifaceted, multimedia industry whose characters continue to enthrall Americans and fans all over the world. We promise that after watching this series, no parent will ever dare to throw away their kid’s comic books again…”

The three episodes in SUPERHEROES are:

“Truth, Justice, and the American Way” (1938-1958) – October 8, 2013, 9:00 p.m. ET
During the Depression, the popularity of dozens of superhero characters opens the door for a new generation of artists and writers. World War II creates a patriotic fervor for star-spangled adventurers to represent the American spirit at war and on the home front, but in the 1950s, superheroes are caught in the fire of government scrutiny and regulation. When the thrilling “Adventures of Superman” is broadcast on the new medium of television, America’s first and greatest superhero leads the entire comic book industry to renewed strength.

“Great Power, Great Responsibility” (1959-1977) October 15, 2013, 9:00 p.m. ET
A new breed of superhero emerges in the 1960s, inspired by the age of atomic energy and space travel and, in turn, inspiring artists of the time. The pop art movement draws heavily on comic books, with superhero images appearing in the works of Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. Civil rights in America and other social issues make their way onto the page as black superheroes emerge with powerhouses such as the Black Panther and Luke Cage. The pages of “Green Lantern/Green Arrow” address social issues in their relevant storylines, and comic books are forced to confront the reality of an increasingly complex world.

“A Hero Can Be Anyone” (1978-Present) October 22, 2013, 9:00 p.m. ET
This episode captures the enthusiasm for superheroes as they are embraced in all forms of media and by all demographics, beginning with the historic “Superman” movie featuring Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel. In 1986, Batman is overhauled as The Dark Knight to reflect the nocturnal underside of his character, and Watchmen brings new sophistication to comic book narratives, illuminating a violent and politicized world. In the burgeoning new millennium, superheroes have taken over popular culture with feature films, television shows and video games complementing a new generation of web-based comics that bring superhero adventures to every corner of the world.

Available as a free download through the iTunes store, InkBlazers lets fans access their favorites anytime, while giving the site’s comic creators another platform on which to distribute their content.

“As a huge comics fan since childhood, I’ve always been frustrated by how difficult it was to engage with my favorite authors and discover new and exciting content,” said Victor Chu, MangaMagazine.net CEO and co-founder. “Through MangaMagazine.net and our InkBlazers app, we are shaking up the publishing industry and helping fans explore countless new Web comics and manga from some of the most talented artists on the Web.”

Founded in early 2012, MangaMagazine.net has amassed more than 55,000 registered users, who are made up of both comic fans and artists. The site gives artists full control over the editorial direction and rights to their work, while also giving them the opportunity to monetize their content through revenue sharing and e-commerce. Artists who have demonstrated a certain level of success – as determined by a series of criteria that takes into consideration staff selection, number of fans and other statistics – are promoted to the site’s Feature Tier. The top performing Featured comics are then selected for the Premium Tier where the artists can earn income from a $20,000 monthly pool as well as receive additional advertising, merchandise and marketing support. By tapping into feedback from the vast network of comic fans, artists can learn and adapt via crowdsourcing, helping them move through the tiered system and strengthening the reader bond and their content.

Geeks Who Do Music: EP Review - Jowin Actually Has Friends by Jowin

One thing I love is listening to my fellow geeks music. A while back we feature hip hop artist Jowin in our Geek Who Do Music section (/www.otakusandgeeks.com/akusandgeeks.com/2011/10/cosplay-girl-videos.html). Many geeks will know Jowin from his hit song "Cosplay Girl." Jowin is back with an all new EP "Jowin Actually Has Friends." The 5 song EP is smooth, creative, fun and it's something hip hop fans should check out.

The EP opens up with a smooth, relaxing track "Can't Stay Away" it's a great opener with cool vocals and lyrics. It does a great job of setting the tone of the EP. The next track is when Jowin starts showing his lyrical skills with the song "Commute." The song paints imagery of Jowin traveling and trying to tune out his surroundings. The song chorus is catchy and the lyrics are spot on for the concept Jowin is going for. The next track is absolutely my favorite track of them all. The third track "All Alone" is the show stealer of the EP. The song's catchy amazing jazzy beat grabs you from the first ten seconds, and the chorus song by artist FYUTCH is fitting for the track. Jowin uses some geeky references in this song which he clever manages to weave into the concept of the song. Jowin and FYUTCH chemistry is what makes this song work, they play off each other styles very well and with clever lyrics and great production this is the must listen track on the EP. The final two tracks "Please Save Mii" and "Stranger" are two great songs to close the EP.

Final Thoughts: "Jowin Actually Has Friends" is a wonderful EP. It makes you want more tracks from Jowin and see what else he will come up with in the future. Each song concept fits, the features are just as talented and the production will make true hip hop fans smile. It is a valid effort and showcase on someone I believe is just warming up.

Track listing & Ratings

1.Can't Stay Away (4.5/5)
2. Commute (4.5/5)
3. All Alone feat FYUTCH (5/5)

Lenni Reviews: Ink by Amanda Sun

Imagine life as you know it ends and you are dropped in a strange country where you barely know the language and a strange boy at school has drawings that come to life and attack you. Welcome to the life of Katie Greene; the unfortunate heroine of Amanda Sun's "Ink." After Katie's mother dies, she's sent to Japan to live with her aunt. With a rusty grasp of the language and customs, Katie struggles through school and tries to make some friends. She finds herself attracted to the resident bad boy, Tomohiro, who has these strange moving sketches.

This novel reads like a shojo manga; lost girl meets lost boy, one of the two is magical. and they fall in devoted love faster than the sakura bloom and fall. Most YA novels are following this pattern these days but the premise is very original and kept me reading despite how unrealistic the romance was to me.

The love story was the only part of this book I didn't have complete fun with. I loved the descriptions of regular life in Japan as Katie gets used to an entire new set of cultural norms. Even adjusting to the food was noted which was fascinating. You really get the sense of friction and frustration as a complete gaijin is thrust into a world she barely understands. However, ALL the boys wanna know Katie, she's just the girl everyone wants to date. I'm sure there's the draw of the exotic; the excitement of a foreign girl with blonde hair as a fresh transfer student is bound to draw the attention of all the other kids. But I still had trouble finding the romance believable. They were in love and willing to die for one another so fast, I had to take a moment to catch up.

Then again, I think the same about most shojo manga and the stories are designed to be that way; a light, whirlwind romance with the spice of danger of the supernatural. It's a fun, simple read that will talk to the heart of every young girl dreaming of an otherworldly bishonen to fall in love with. I recommend this to any fan of shojo who is looking for a novel along the same lines.
