Internationally acclaimed writer, Hideyuki Kikuchi, author and creator of the famed novel series, Vampire Hunter D, delves into the past with his latest addition, NOBLE V: GREYLANCER, It is the year 7000 by Noble reckoning, and the vampire rulers of the world have grown complacent. When the Outer Space Beings (OSBs) invade, the Noble warrior Greylancer must pit his skills and magic against the technology of the OSBs, quash an anti-Noble rebellion, and, when he is critically injured, turn to mere humans for help. The Three Thousand Year War of Vampire Hunter D begins here!

“Hideyuki Kikuchi is one of Japan's top horror and science fiction authors in the proud tradition of Robert Bloch, Fritz Leiber, H.P. Lovecraft, and Stephen King. His Vampire Hunter D setting has been attracting fans in the U.S. for more than twenty years,” says Nick Mamatas, Haikasoru’s editor. “NOBLE V: GREYLANCER reveals the mysterious history of the Nobility and follows the exploits of the powerful Noble warrior Greylancer as pushes his own immortality to the limit. Kikuchi is an ardent fan of many classic horror tropes, and his new novel exquisitely combines the danger and violence of traditional literary vampires with the nobility and dark attraction of modern vampire iconography.”

Hideyuki Kikuchi was born in 1949 in Chiba, Japan and, inspired by the work of writers such as H. P. Lovecraft, began writing supernatural fiction in the early 1980s. His first novel, Demon City Shinjuku, debuted in 1982. Horror films, most notably 1958’s The Horror of Dracula, had a tremendous impact on Kikuchi and inspired him to create the legendary Vampire Hunter D series, which has spawned more than 17 novels and a host of novellas and related short stories. One of the world’s most prolific authors, Kikuchi has published over three hundred books and still produces multiple novels per year. He has enjoyed tremendous international success as a novelist and much of his work has been also been adapted into manga and anime, including Vampire Hunter D. Wicked City, A Wind Named Amnesia, and Dark Wars: The Tale of Meiji Dracula.

HOW TO ... Afford LOLITA

But I have limited income.
I can't afford my dream dress.
I don't know how to shop.
But I'm in college and trying to lolita on a budget.

You guys are so pretty. I wish I could afford ...

LOLITA.

This list goes on and on. I am sure we have all been in this boat about something and Lolita, being a luxury fashion, is no different. So here are some tips and how-to's for letting go of excuses and getting into Lolita.

Brand vs. Off-Brand

Everyone wants to look like a doll baby and sometimes you just don't have doll baby prices. Personally, I just don't commit to shopping that often and enjoy quick fixes in bulk. Whatever your reason, off brand is a great way to get started. Just because it's generally labeled off-brand doesn't always mean cheap quality. However, it can mean kinder prices.

A great go-to for some off-brand experimentation is Bodyline. I am proud to say, as an in real life (IRL) Lolita, about 85% of my closet is Bodyline and I absolutely love it. It affords me time and money to experiment with my Lolita, become more expressive, and find what styles I would enjoy investing in, further, brand-wise.

In the years that I have been shopping Bodyline, I must say that there quality is on a come up to compete with brand. However, a fair warning is that their panniers and petticoats aren't great at all. They just aren't fluffy enough and die within minutes of wearing them. So if you're looking for that inexpensive perfect poof, they are NOT the way to go. In sizing, sometimes, Bodyline can be trial and error. You'll probably find that mostly in shoes but no fear! All Lolis need shoes, so they are generally easy to resell within communities (pending style and size, of course) so that you can re-up and get what you need.

For petticoats, I would suggest Fan Plus Friend. While you're there, you may find some nifty replica styles and other do-dads for Lolita styles. They are especially great if you are into Gothic and old-school Lolita. But if you're sweet you may be in for a hunt to find some items. A fair warning about their items, hwoever, would be that some of there items do look costume-y and can become very ita very fast. So, easy doest it and take time planning coords with Fan Plus Friend.

Buying Replicas and Second-hand

Eventually, brand is inevitable. It's not a bad thing. In fact, in all of my years, I am recently opening up to acquire a bit of burando myself. Some prints are simply pleasing to my eye so I have to suck it up and join the masses. To be kinder to my pockets, though, the Live Journal EGL Sales Community has become my friend.

With overseas shopping always on my mind, I am starting to become more familiar with shopping services to navigate places like Taobao and Closet Child. Then there's Oo Jia for some replica customizing goodness.

Unfortunately, I have yet to shop these suggestions. So I don't have much input ... YET! But give me time and I'll be sure to share my experience. However, these suggestions come highly recommended so I'm positive I'm not steering you wrong.

No matter which way you rock in Lolita, though, hands down, you HAVE TO SAVE! I really cannot stress that enough. Pennies and other change count, too. So grab a jar, start a Lolita fund, and hit up your nearest Coinstar to change your change into bills before shopping. But there's absolutely no way around that fact.

The Dollar vs. The Yen

The dollar is stronger now. Why is that great you ask? Easy! Easier conversions and less dollars spent. No matter where you shop, if there is an option to pay in JPY over USD, you'd better choose JPY. If you don't believe me, do the math! You may not be saving a great deal on orders, but if you 'bout dat life, every little bit counts!

Until next time
~je t'adore!

BlazBlue Gets TV Anime

Even as GG introduces UE, BB is heading in the opposite direction with TV in the form of a full TV anime adaptation, to the general relief of fans – most of whom seem prepared to overlook the generally abysmal fate of fighting game to anime adaptations.

Boasting staff involved in the production of such classics as To Aru Majutsu no Index and FMA, and the studio behind such classics as Seiken no Qwaser, Manyuu and Nazo no Kanojo X, the series certainly looks to enjoy a mixed pedigree and is scheduled for an autumn 2013 broadcast.

One Piece Cancelled Again as Eiichiro Oda Hospitalized

One Piece mangaka Eiichiro Oda hospitalisation with a tonsil infection has caused the cancellation of at least two One Piece instalments, alarming many fans yet again.
According to Shonen Jump’s editorial announcement, volume 26 and 27 of Weekly Jump will be missing One Piece due to his hospitalisation.
Jump also clarified that he is suffering from a peritonsillar abscess, not simple tonsillitis as their print announcement stated.
Amongst Shonen Jump readers, in addition to worry for “workaholic” Oda himself, there has been the usual concern at both the fate of One Piece and the reliance of the magazine on its colossal success – and the effect any extended One Piece hiatus could have on the magazine.

A Few reasons Why The Walking Dead Comic Should Revisit the Prison.

Hey Otakus and Geeks Fans, Sean (The True Comic Fan). I have a question that has been on my mind since the prison arch ended in the Walking Dead (Issue # 13-48). What happened to the Woodbury survivors who were left in the prison after the attack?

Creator Robert Kirkman wrote:

"I'm not going to say the Woodbury survivors were all killed (when their bullets ran out), but it's very unlikely that we'll ever see them again. The prison is dead to me. I've moved on and so have the characters.”

Why Mr. Kirkman? Why not tell us a story about what happened to the survivors? Yes the series is in the middle of another story arch that is months if not a year after the prison, but that doesn’t mean a back-story about the prison can’t be in the works for future issues or a side story. Now Mr. Kirkman you said  “I’m not going to say the Woodbury survivors were all killed, but it’s very unlikely that we’ll ever see them again.” Well I take that as a slim chance he might revisit the story if there was a good reason. Here are some of the reasons I think Robert Kirkman should revisit the Prison and close the story of the Woodbury survivors.

      1. LILY It seems we never get closure with this character. The Comic Book, The Book (Road to Woodbury), and the Video game so far. We never know her fate good or bad. In the Comic she runs in the prison with the other survivors. In the Video Game (Depending on your choices) you either leave her behind and she runs from an approaching walker or She Steals the RV and leaves. (Any decision you make should lead up to the road to Woodbury story) I think if anything, Lily is worth writing about.

 2. A Break before the next story arch How about a break from Rick and the other current survivors. I’m not saying that I’m bored with them, but a side story would be a nice break. Depending on how the current story ends (Tragic or Happy) giving the reader’s a change is not a bad thing. I mean how many nemesis is Rick going to have to take down to make his group safe and how many times is there going to be a story about it.

3.You have gone back for other people Ok during the prison story arch when Rick discovered that you don’t have to be bitten to turn. He jumps on a motorcycle and rides all the way back to where Shane was buried to dig him up and see if he had turned. Granted this was only few panels and not a big deal, but for some people who may have had a question about Shane being turned got an answer. Another example we can look at is Rick going back for Morgan and his Son. Finding out what happened to them was a great story. It was Just one issue, but still good.

 4. Did the baby die when Lori fell on top of her?  I have always wondered if the baby really did die when Lori fell. I mean what if the the baby was still alive? Can you image the twist in the story. For example, what if Lily closes the door, the survivors are safe for now and she suddenly hears the baby crying. Can you image the different stories that would come from that scenario. Can you image how it would effect the current story in the future?

These are just a few reason why I think the prison should be revisited. Knowing if the Woodbury survivors lived or died would make a great story and give readers closure. So Walking Dead Fans if you agree, comment, pass this article along and Maybe someone in the Kirkman camp will see this and consider giving us what we all want to read.

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Gets 2nd Season

Chuunibyou which ended with the last fall semester has just got green lighted for production on a second season.

This is surprising considering  the anime ended with most loose ends tied. In my opinion this anime ended perfect and does not need a second season. But that said I really loved this anime and I would hate for the second season to drag on but I can't wait to see what there gonna do with this show.

Ayakashi koi Emaki- Demon Love Spell Review

Hello  everyone. This is a review of the manga called Ayakashi Koi Emaki or in english Demon Love Spell. I hope you enjoy.

Synopsis: Demon Love Spell is about Miko, a novice shrine priestess who happens to exorcise a demon named Kagura that feeds on love...just by coincidence or pure luck. Now she is stuck with this handsome, lust hungry demon, that may have interests in her only as food or maybe much more.

Storyline: The story is different from other demon/human relationships. The protagonists is not so easily smittened by Kagura's  advances or antics in the beginning. Miko does blush but tries to cover it up my hiding her feelings. The manga is very good in this aspect and in a way Miko reminds me of Kagome in Inuyasha. It also has that same humor quality like when Kagome tells Inuyasha  to sit. Also it makes you think if humans and demons could live in the same world without the whole prey and predator, consumer v.s. food thing (I am purposefully being vague because I want you to read the manga).

Artwork: The artwork is very interesting and it is something to get used to. It reminds me of XXXHolic artwork or Clamp's artwork in general only because the faces look much different than the ones I am used to and it reminds me of Tsubasa Chronicles. But it is a very addicting manga to read and the artwork is beautiful.

Overall Grade: A-
I love the story and the artwork is exellent. It makes you wonder whether demons and humans could get along (as you will see throughout the story) and the comedy is on point. I hope you all love this manga as I do! Manga Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Colorful Review

There is no secret that I' am a huge fan of anime and manga that are in the slice of life genre. There comes a time when you come across a piece of work that not only makes you think, but also makes you feel emotionally invested that you forget you're watching an anime. "Colorful" is one of those anime's that is truly a must watch film.

Synopsis: Upon reaching the train station to death, a dejected soul is informed that he is 'lucky' and will have another chance at life. He is placed in the body of a 14-year-old boy named Makoto Kobayashi, who has just committed suicide. Watched over by a neutral spirit named Purapura, the soul must figure out what his greatest sin and mistake in his former life was before his time limit in Makoto's body runs out. He also has a number of other lesser duties he must complete, such as understanding what led Makoto to commit suicide in the first place and learning how to enjoy his second chance at life.

Story: "Colorful" has a wonderful concept filled with a few central core themes that drives the protagonist story along. Themes of bullying, suicide, a take on the afterlife and the importance of a support system. Growing up one of the most important life lessons I learn is "You're only as strong as your support system." In other words you might be a strong human being, but you still need a strong foundation around you to keep you strong. Without that support around you, life will be a little more difficult. When watching the character of Makoto and seeing him get bully and then eventually taking his own life, it made me think of how important that having a support system is.

Colorful Trailer

The movie does a phenomenal job of making you invest in Makoto and his world. Makoto has the typical formula an outcast. He's quiet, not liked at school, has no friends and feels that no one understands him. The great thing about Makoto character and the entire movie is the mystery. Throughout the movie the soul that takes over Makoto's body is trying to figure out what it did, what spark Makoto to kill himself. Surrounded by a strong well written supporting cast that have interesting side stories of their own, like Hiroka Kuwabara who story can be a movie of her own. For the sake of not giving spoilers I won't get into details, however I would like to say I wish they explore her character a little bit more to understand why she did what she did.  With a running time of only 2 hours I wish it was 2 hours and 30 mins to give the support cast more screen time. That is how great this story, it's theme and characters will grab you and make you want more. My only complaints about the story is it gets a little dry when Makoto is developing relationships with key characters, thankfully it doesn't last very long.

Voice Acting: The English voice cast did a very good job. Greg Ayers plays Makoto very well, he delivers a performance in his voice that really brings the vulnerability, insecurity of Makoto to life. Luci Christian as the mysterious Purapura was my favorite performance. Her character is witty, but serious and deep and I love her calm, upbeat but serious tone she did for the character. Other voice actors such as Chris Patton, Brittney Karbowski and Emily Neves all give great performances.

Music & Animation: The music is a composition of my piano and strings which is very easy to listen too. The soundtrack is composed by Ko Otani and it has some memorable tracks, but it falls a little bit short as it gets to be the standard dramatic ost you expect from a drama anime. The animation however is beautiful. One of the aspects I love is the background of the film, because the background is clearly a painting which fits well into Makoto character since he is an artist. Rarely you will see a anime film where the background has a relationship in some part to a character. The choice to use a painting type background brought me more into the setting.

Final Grade A-/****1/2 Stars: "Colorful" is a truly a gem that you must have in your collection or witness. The story touches on many subjects that everyone can relate to one way or another, whether it's family relationships, bullying, insecurity, trying to find yourself and your purpose. This movie has a lot of heart and most importantly a lot of soul. It's not the experience that makes it great, at the end it makes you really think about your own life and most importantly raises some questions. This movie truly shines bright.

Lenni Reviews: Sidney Sheldon's The Tides Of Memory by Tilly Bagshane

Political dramas aren’t really my thing. Real politics are dramatic enough and I find their considerable lack of elves, dragons, or space ships terribly disturbing. But while such books aren’t in my book queue, I cracked this book open with an equally open mind.

The novel follows Alexia De Vere, wife of Teddy De Vere and ruthless political darling of the United Kingdom’s conservative party. As the newly appointed Home Secretary (a position I hadda look up because I wasn’t exactly sure what a Home Secretary does), her hard ball stance on illegal immigrants and sentencing laws has earned her a sizable number of enemies. So, one can hardly be surprised when bodies start piling up around her.

Bagshane has some tight writing here and the characters are believable to the point where you can be annoyed by them. I had trouble identifying with Alexia not because she wasn’t written well, but because she’s a spoiled rich woman who seems to have nine lives when her mistakes come to bite her in the ass. I was curious about the outcome and it kept me reading to the end but didn’t keep me up late or anything. It’s pure and fun escapism, enough to keep me turning the pages and I’m an admitted avoider of thrillers and mysteries.

This book wasn’t good enough for me to go chasing down the other books by the same author(s) but it was a fun ride while it lasted. If you’re in to light political thrillers with a twisting plot and a fair amount of drama, you won’t be disappointed.

Five Great & Not So Great Moms In Anime

Happy Mother's Day to all the otaku and geeky mothers of the world. Today we will look at five anime moms some good and some not so motherly, but nether the less these moms were present in there children's lives. Since parents in anime usually are non existent or barely around we wanted to showcase the moms that are least around. Here are five anime moms.

Chi Chi (Dragonball Z)

When I think of a great mom in anime the first one that came to my mind was Chi Chi. Chi Chi is the type of mom who pushes her kids to be the best and to succeed. Especially when it comes to Gohan the only thing on Chi Chi mind was Gohan's education. She wanted Gohan to be a scientist and didn't want him risking his life all the time like Goku. Chi Chi also is a mother who will defend her children and family if need be and is very skilled in fighting if she needs to defend herself. Caring, protective and a mom that we salute.

Atsuko (Yu Yu Hakusho)

"Oh great mother of the year." -Sarcastically said by Yusuke Urameshi. Atsuko will definitely not be a contender for mother of the year. Atsuko is a mother that we rarely get to see in anime. She's a mother that is troubled has her own demons to face and all of this actually affects the way her child Yusuke acts. Atsuko is a mess, she parties too much, drinks too much and smokes too much and basically doesn't really care about Yusuke when we first meet her. However after Yusuke dies and comes back, we see Atsuko start to step it up a little as a parent. She tries to make sure Yusuke goes to school, makes sure he is eating well and not getting into too much trouble, however some of the old habits are hard to kill as Atsuko will still from time to time not be around. She's not a perfect mom, but at least she is present and tries from time to time.

Delia Ketchum (Pokemon)

When your mom let's you leave the house at the age of ten to explore the world and follow your dreams, you have a very cool mom. Some will say that Delia Ketchum is the worst mom there is letting her son travel by himself at a young age. However I have to disagree Delia is not stupid. She keeps tabs on Ash all the time. She calls him, he has to check in with her from time to time. Delia is always there to encourage, motivate and inspire Ash to do his best and with a support system that Delia provides, there is no doubt that Ash will be the best Pokemon master someday.

Emiko Niwa (D.N. Angel)

Emiko is a mother that is very blunt and straight to the point. She is a mother that has a very unique family history and she tries to keep that history in tact with her son Daisuke. Emiko tends to embarrass Daisuke all the time with her antics of revealing things to him in public, or setting obstacles courses that can actually kill him in the name of training. But deep down you have a woman who loves her son and wants him to succeed. Emiko is a very cool mother to have, once you get pass the fact that she can be a little crazy.

Eureka (Eureka Seven)

Granted Maurice, Maeter and Linck are not Eureka's birth children, but she did take them in after killing they family members. Eureka felt guilty when she realized what she done so she takes it upon herself to raise the three kids. As a woman still growing herself Eureka has a hard time learning how to discipline the kids until Renton comes along and shows her how. Eureka is caring, compassionate and willing to risk everything to protect these kids and regardless of what she did to the real parents, she surely did make up for it by stepping up and taking them in.

Neon Genesis Evangelion Director Hideaki Anno Stars in New Studio Ghibli Film

Hideaki Anno director of the anime series "Neon Genesis Evangelion" will star in the new Studio Ghibli film "Kaze Tachinu"(The Wind Rises) This will be Hideaki first time doing a voice over role. He starts as the main protagonist in the film which will debut in Japan on July 20th. The film takes a look at the life of Jiro Horikoshi, the man who designed Japanese fighter planes during World War II. Anime Rules!!!
