X-Men First Class Sequel Sets Summer 2014 Release Date

X-Men: First Class was one of the more rushed blockbuster productions in recent memory, with Matthew Vaughn signing on as director in May of 2010, just 13 months before the June 2011 release. Miraculously, it actually turned out pretty well, earning strong reviews, a whole lot of money, and of course, the inevitable plans for a sequel.

As rushed as they were to make the first one, though, 20th Century Fox has been taking their time putting together the First Class sequel, and in early April they announced they'd wait even longer, starting production in January of next year to accommodate the schedule of star Jennifer Lawrence, who will be shooting the Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire this fall. Now, as you might guess, Fox has finally set a release date for the still-untitled film, but it's giving them a little more time to finish it this time around. The update at Box Office Mojo says the First Class sequel will come to theaters July 18, 2014, giving returning director Vaughn a much more reasonable 18 months from the start of production to release.

We don't know a whole lot else about the film, except that it will focus even further on the development of Magneto (Michael Fassbender) as the villain, and that other stars like James McAvoy, Zoe Kravitz, Rose Byrne and Nicholas Hoult are all likely to reprise their roles. With production not starting until next year it will probably be a while before we hear more casting information or any more plot details, but now at least we can know it'll be 2014 before we should start looking forward to actually seeing it.

Arvid Nelson's REX MUNDI Slays Dark Horse Presents, Gets Omnibized

ARVID NELSON’S REX MUNDI SLAYS DARK HORSE PRESENTS, GETS OMNIBIZED!

May 31, MILWAUKIE, OR—Arvid Nelson’s critically acclaimed Rex Mundi gets collected in two omnibus volumes and returns in the Eisner-nominated anthology Dark Horse Presents #15, with a new tale of murder, mystery, heresy, and the occult!
Paris, 1933. Europe is still in the grip of feudalism, sorcerers stalk the streets at night, and secret societies vie for power. When a medieval scroll disappears from a Paris church, Dr. Julien Saunière begins uncovering a series of horrific ritual murders connected to the Catholic Church. His investigation turns into a one-man quest to uncover the deepest secrets of Christianity, a trail of conspiracy that extends all the way to the walls of Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Rex Mundi is the tale of a quest for the Holy Grail told as a murder mystery, set in a world where magic is real and the Catholic Church never lost its grip on power.
“I’m thrilled Dark Horse is making Rex Mundi available in an omnibus format—it’s the way it was always meant to be read! The story in Dark Horse Presents is the perfect introduction for new readers, and I think old-timers will get a kick out of it, too. We open things up with the Holy Inquisition in Paris, the day before the main story line begins,” stated Arvid Nelson.
Rex Mundi Omnibus Volume 1 (of 2) is set to collect Rex Mundi Volumes 1–3 and will feature the complete Brother Matthew short story!
Dark Horse Presents #15 is on comic stands August 22, 2012.

Miss MegaMan? Check Out These OC ReMixes

Hey people. Did you know that this year Mega Man and Street Fighter will be 25 years old and that Capcom will have an anniversary box set for Street Fighters 25th. This is a great thing for Street Fighter because Capcom is releasing a huge 25th Anniversary for that series.

This is the box set:

In case you don't know, the box set contains:

  • Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix
  • Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition
  • Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition (and all its DLC)
  • Street Fighter X Tekken (and all its DLC)
  • A documentary
  • two anime movies
  • The full Street Fighter animated series(which one I don't know)
  • Eleven discs of music
  • Art book
  • and a freaking light up Ryu statue doing a blue shoryuken

All this for Street Fighters anniversary this September for $150 Dollars.

After seeing all that am thinking to myself "Damn this is sweet as hell, but what does MegaMan get for his 25th?"  Most All of the games were canceled and then he's made into a joke character in their newest fighting game as "ON DISC DLC." I remember a day when MegaMan was not only as well known as Sonic and Mario but the series stood tall and just as great as those two.

With nothing being known for whats going on with the MegaMan 25th Anniversary, I will point you guys over to OverClocked Remix and show you what some fans of the series have made for their love of all things Mega Man and his journey.

This first one is mainly about Mega Man 9 and it's totally sweet being made of full remixes of tracks and tunes from that game from stages to the bosses.

This second one is the Robot Museum, it's all about the bosses and remaking their themes. It's a very sweet collection that spans most of all the MegaMan games and nope it doesn't use the same tracks like the last one. All brand new tracks.

This is the last one and it's a biggie have the most albums and covering all of MegaMan X from X to X7. It also got special mash-up/Vs tracks. To put it simply this is the biggest one out of all the collection.
Side-note the Vs ones almost always come in two versions, example: Awesome Electrified (Spark Mandrill vs. Boomer Kuwanger) and then there is Shocking Heights (Boomer Kuwanger vs. Spark Mandrill) but they are two different songs.

In all these albums are totally awesome and more importantly free and legit torrents. So it seems like these guys have done more for MegaMan then Capcom but who knows, Capcom has till December of this year to do something but it seems unlikely.

I really hate saying that.

Batman: Arkham City "Harley Quinn's Revenge" Review

One of the best Batman games till this date, is back with a brand new story driven DLC entitled "Harley Quinn's Revenge." Is this the DLC we deserved? Or is this the DLC we don't need right now? Warning this review contains SPOILERS! Do not read if you haven't finish the main story of "Arkham City."

The story takes a place a few weeks after Arkham City. The Joker is dead, and Batman is not really taking it too well. He goes back to Arkham City after Harley and her goons take some GPD hostage. After Batman doesn't return, Oracle gets worried and sends Robin to investigate. The story is good, but leaves a lot of questions. Does Batman feel regret for the death of The Joker? Is The Joker really dead? What about Harley's child? Unfortunately the closure many were looking for will not happen. You'll have to wait for the next game to get the answers. Truthfully the gameplay is the same, nothing has change. If you played Arkham City, then you will feel right at home. You play as Batman and Robin, mainly Robin throughout the story. Robin does have some different equipment from Batman, he is able to shield himself from bullets, carries a staff for an arsenal. The free flow combat is still as smooth as ever, and a couple of puzzles in this DLC, but nothing really hard. There is some Easter eggs, which I won't spoil and conversations with the crooks that really make you say hmmm. Overall the gameplay is the same, and the final boss is a nice surprise. Expect to spend 1 to 2 hours on the DLC. It's a nice epilogue to Arkham City, that raises some questions. At the price tag of 10 bucks I would say wait till it goes on sell, it's quick, fun but really doesn't offer too much. It's still a good DLC and it's cool to finally play as Robin in a story mode, but other than that it's a one trip deal.

Final Grade B+/8.5

G.I. Joe Retaliation Delay Due To Storyline Change?

Was there another reason for the mind-boggling delay of sequel, G.I. Joe: Retaliation?

The recent announcement that the film, originally-slated for June 29 would be shifted to March 29, 2013 was originally attributed to Paramount's desire to convert the film to 3D. While that reason still remains solid, there was apparently another reason, and it has to do with returning star, Channing Tatum, who plays Duke.
It seems that the way the character was handled this time around, along with his fate, left test audiences not feeling so "Yo Joe!" about the film.

Warning: Spoileriffic Material Below!
As far as the 3D conversion goes, an insider tells Deadline that it will only add $5 million more to the film's $125 million budget. (I'm guessing they're getting it done at Walmart?) However, it appears that this huge gamble may not be just to add an extra dimension, but to change the context of the film itself.

It's certainly no secret that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's character of Roadblock has been the most prominent part of the hype surrounding the film. One might have thought that the spotlight had shifted from Channing Tatum's Duke, who was the main protagonist in 2009's The Rise of Cobra. However, his return was intended to be brief and after a few scenes where Duke passes the proverbial baton to Roadblock, Duke was reportedly killed-off.
However, a lot has happened since that was decided; namely the rising star of Channing Tatum. With hits like The Vow, Haywire, 21 Jump Street, and the upcoming Magic Mike, he is a now bankable commodity. Thus, more scenes with Tatum and Johnson have been shot (perhaps with more on tap?) to possibly nix Duke's death, but, more importantly, put more Duke in the film, creating a tighter "buddy" dynamic with Roadblock, similar to the one he had with Marlon Wayans' Ripcord in the first film.

It's a similar situation to an attempt to kill Duke off in the cartoon series back in 1987 in G.I. Joe: The Movie. The character was not originally supposed to survive being impaled by a snake spear from villain, Serpentor. However, in much the same way, it seems that outside forces could be taking the grinning First-Sergeant off the chopping block.

There were no doubt other reasons for the delay, namely the shellacking that some big-budget monsters like John Carter and Battleship have been taking at the box-office. With summer 2012 looking to provide some of the toughest competition ever, no doubt, this was a reprieve from a potentially-similar box-office disaster.

Nevertheless, the delay has left fans befuddled, and even director, Jon Chu was allegedly left "shellshocked." (I'm not sure if that's a pun.)

Carpet Ball (App Review)

Carpet Ball is a new Mobile App game available for I-Phone/ I-Pad users. The idea of the game is knock all of your opponents balls off the table. The first one to do this will win. The concept follows the same as pool with a little strategic elements of shuffleboard. Unfortunately while the concept and idea is there, however the execution isn't. For starters in order to enjoy this game, you will need two players with the same I-Phone, and must play over the same Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection. Players must be in the same location and from there put your phones together to create the board. There is really not much to do with Carpet Ball unless you have a friend, the fun factor dies down after a few games, just hit the cue ball to your opponents side until you knock it out. The graphics isn't really the best and it's seems very generic. Unfortunately the app doesn't have much to offer, and the fact you need two phones, a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection and another friend to play is disappointing. With a price tag of $.99 you can try it for yourself and see, but I can't really co-sign this one.

Men In Black 3 Review

After ten years the Men In Black are back in action. This time in Agent J must travel back into time to save K. Is this installment or a knockout? Or should you prepare yourself for a Neuralizer?

Story - Agent J travels in time to MIB's early years in the year 1969, to stop an alien from assassinating his friend Agent K and changing history. When I first heard of M.I.B 3 storyline immediately thought to myself, time traveling they just ruined the series. However in fact this storyline actually ties J and K's relationship together. If you weren't a fan of "Men In Black 2", rest assure "Men In Black 3" will make have faith in the series again. As previously stated J travels back in time to stop the assassination of K, after a old foe of K's named "Boris The Animal" (played by Jemanie Clement) escapes from prison. The story is pretty simple and it actually works, it's short, sweet and to the point. What really makes the story work in Men In Black 3 is the focus on K and J's relationship. The overall plot is trying to find K's killer, but the real focus is on J and K's relationship. Questions are raised more about K's past like. Why is K so grumpy? Why is K the way he is with J?

Focusing on that made M.I.B 3 work for us. That is not saying M.I.B 3 doesn't have it's plot holes, trust me there is a lot of them. There is one scene you think J killed an alien, then the alien appears in the next scene. Some of the jokes didn't make sense and felt awkward. For example Agent J says to Young K "Don't use that Jedi Mind trick on me." This joke doesn't work because Star Wars wasn't even out in the 69. New characters are just put in there and not really explored, the villain "Boris The Animal" wasn't the best. However other than that the story is witty, enjoyable and believe it or not the story is emotional. Out of all the three  Men In Black films, this one is the most emotional, and it needed to be in order to explore K and J's relationship. Without giving any spoilers the twist that is set up towards the end is a little bit a tear jerker for fans. It will bring everything into perspective for J and K, the dots are connected and comes full circle if you fully understand the mythos. Only sad thing is that fans of Frank, The Worms and other aliens from the previously installments, don't get any to none screen time.

Acting - Do I really have to talk about the acting? It's Tommy Lee Jones, Will Smith! The chemistry between these two is still there and still works. However the real amazing show stealer is Josh Brolin who plays Young Agent K. Brolin is purely amazing in this role, he has great chemistry with Smith. He nailed Tommy Lee Jones as K perfectly, you actually forget that Tommy Lee Jones is in the movie. He nails Jones mannerism, speech and his voice, his performance is scary! Overall the acting is a home run and it's what you expect you from "Men In Black."

Music & Filmmaking - The music is by Danny Elfman, and most of the soundtrack is just a rehashed of the first two soundtracks. A couple of strings added here, a guitar solo there, it works but it's not something you will remember. The visuals in M.I.B 3 is good, but 3D is really taking the audience out of the element, remember when you couldn't tell if the scene was on blue or green screen? You can really tell that it was filmed in M.I.B 3. The designs of the aliens are clever, the camera shots are awesome, but too much CGI really takes away from the feel you got from the first and second one. the 1960's New York is really not that different. However it somehow manages to keep it together.

Final Grade B-/***1/2 Out Of 5 Stars - Men In Black 3 is fun, emotional and to the point. It has it's flaws but the ending twist will make up for it. Rest assured it's better than M.I.B 2 and fans will enjoy the performances all around. It's time put on the last suit that you will ever wear.

DC Comics Going To 'Out' An Established Character?

Which DC Comic Character will be coming out of the closet?

Hey Otakus and Geeks Fans, Sean ( The Comic Guy ). According to editor-in-chief of DC Comics Dan DiDio, a major DC character is going to come out as gay. DiDio dropped the big news at a London Comic convention. Although a gay comic book character is not that shocking considering Marvel is having one of their characters ( Northstar ) who is in a same-sex relationship, is expected to marry his boyfriend Kyle soon.

So who do you think it will be? DC Comics now has me racking my brain trying to figure out who it will be. The only clue we have is that it won't be any of the Brands that got a reboot. If you think you have an idea of who it might be, leave a comment and let us know. Here are some of my picks of who it might be.

Red Robin/ Tim Drake: It's possible. He has dated women, but his relationships haven't really gone anywhere. One of Batman's sidekicks being gay wouldn't be so shocking.

Green Lantern/Kyle Rayner: Hey I wouldn't be surprised if the made one of the Green Lanterns gay

Shazam!/Billy Batson: I mean he's a kid that might have discovered he has these new feeling! (LOL)

Raven: Who says it can't be a chick that comes out. I have to say hot half demon chick Hmmmm

So let us know who you think it is.

A LOOK INSIDE BLACK OPS IN THE ACTIVITY

Comic written with cooperation of members of U.S. Military & Intelligence

They do their work in secret, the goals of their missions and the discipline, teamwork, and skills needed to carry them out well out of the sight of the American public. However, on May 2, 2010, an elite team of Navy SEALs carried out Operation Neptune Spear, killing Osama bin Laden and launching "Black Ops" into the American consciousness.

Among the imaginations captured by these elite forces was that of Nathan Edmondson, a writer (WHO IS JAKE ELLIS, DANCER) who was inspired to create THE ACTIVITY, a comic book series that follows the lives of members of the special operations group Intelligence Support Activity. Drawn by Mitch Gerads (with guest issues by Marc Laming), THE ACTIVITY depicts the training and covert missions of Team Omaha within the real-life organization with glimpses of the "regular" lives they live where no one knows about their real jobs.

The insight into the lives of special operatives, as well as the bleeding-edge technology they employ in their missions, is founded on Edmondson's desire to create a true-to-life depiction of life in Special Forces. A trip to Washington D.C., as well as extensive research and networking, yielded defense contractor contacts and sources within special ops.

"I flew to Washington, D.C. and interviewed colonels and captains and a general face-to-face, gleaning what info I could," Edmondson told MTV Geek at the time of THE ACTIVITY #1's publication. "I’ve had the scripts reviewed by individuals from the Pentagon and JSOC [Joint Special Operations Command].... Often it was a matter of those advisors directing me and us to specific reading material, or simply telling us, 'no, that doesn’t make sense.'"

Edmondson's commitment to accuracy won the aid of many of the book's advisors, including Major Rusty Bradley of the US Special Forces, who co-scripted issue six of THE ACTIVITY. Major Bradley is the hero responsible for leading the team that took Sperwan Ghar in the decisive battle in Afghanistan, as is accounted in his book, LIONS OF KANDAHAR. Bradley's co-writer, embedded Special Forces reporter Kevin Maurer, is an ongoing advisor to the book and wrote the foreword to the trade.

The first trade paperback collection of THE ACTIVITY, containing issues #1-5, will be for sale on June 6 (ISBN 978-1-60706-561-6).

THE ACTIVITY #6, in stores now and drawn by Laming, shows events west of the Congo in the Civil Affairs career of Team Omaha's newest member, code name "Fiddler," that led her to being recruited by the Intelligence Support Activity

THE ACTIVITY #7 is the launch of a new story arc, "Goat Hunt," which sees members of Team Omaha being sent to Uzbekistan for their latest mission after incriminating evidence is discovered on a Chinese freighter. It was co-written by actual Navy SEALs whose identities cannot be revealed. It is available for pre-order now from the May issue of Previews and will be in stores on July 18.

THE ACTIVITY creator Nathan Edmondson and artist Mitch Gerads are available for interviews and, as an added bonus, some their research contacts will also be answering questions along with them. Please contact Image Comics PR and Marketing Director Jennifer de Guzman at jenniferdeguzman@imagecomics.com to set up an interview with the team of THE ACTIVITY.

Reasons Why Toonami's Return Is Good For Anime

In case you don't know, or have been sleeping for a while. Toonami the great showcase of great Anime shows as Dragonball Z, Rurouni Kenshin, Gundam Wing and many others is heading back to Cartoon Network. This time Toonami will be on the "Adult Swim" block, this is actually really good news for us Anime fans. Let me explain a little bit, why Toonami return is great for Anime. Toonami Airs May 26th 12:00 AM on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network!

Anime Exposure On Basic Cable: Let's face it, not everyone has Netflix or the Anime Channel, and Anime on basic cable is seen little to none. With Toonami's return that means fans will get a chance to see some Anime that they haven't seen, with two shows "Casshern Sins" and "Deadman Wonderland" joining the roster it will be a fresh start. However the only bad thing about this, is the schedule timing. Toonami might come on too late for some viewers, not everyone is going to stay up 12 to 3 AM to catch Anime. Thankfully with Toonami back it could mean more Anime will be seen, hopefully not just on Cartoon Network.

The Higher The Ratings, The More Anime We Will Get: If you know anything about television, then you know at least this, ratings keeps a show alive. No ratings the show will be cancelled for sure. It's going to be up to us to make sure Toonami stay alive. The more ratings, most likely a prime time slot will be given to Toonami which means more Anime shows. More Anime shows, means more revenue all around, let's be honest Anime in America is taking a slight drop, and Toonami could be that battery charge that it needs.

Reminds People Why Anime Stands Out: The reason what made Toonami so special was the Anime. It was something many people didn't see, especially on Cartoon Network. It brought people who never saw Anime into a world that is like no other. It turned people who never watch Anime ever into Anime fans. It showed people that Anime is awesome, and should be watched. With Toonami return maybe it will remind people what makes Anime so great.
