Mass Effect is one of the new generation's most beloved gaming franchises. It is one of the most anticipated games for 2012, and with Mass Effect 3 setting for release in March. Fans will be happy to know that a great concept art book is on the way in February. "The Art Of Mass Effect Universe" gives fans a deep look at the designs, concept art and sketches of Mass Effect 1, Mass Effect 2 and the upcoming Mass Effect 3. The art is fantastic from early designs of Saren, to planets, armor, weapons. The book gives great insight on why some designs didn't work, why this type of color was used, details on how characters are drawn. If your a fan of Mass Effect and want to know more insight on the universe, this is the book to get. It has tons of great artwork, with 186 pages of content you can't go wrong. The only thing is if you don't want to know anything at all about Mass Effect 3 and the designs, hold off the last chapter. The book is a great love letter to Mass Effect fans, and it's very informative on the designs, characters and planets. Fans will not be disappointed. Final Grade A-/9.0.

Justin Notes - The following Fanfiction is based on the events of Robotech: The Macross Saga. The story of the Macross Saga will be seen through the eyes of a Macross Island civilian. I wanted to tell a story of the Robotech War from a civilian’s point of view. The Fanfiction is told through journal entries from the civilian. In entry 4 Kenji tells finally breaks the news.
Sakura let's go of my hand and walks away from me. I knew from right there that I was now alone, alone in space with no family, no friends, nobody to turn too. My life was about to take a major transformation.
Entry 4 - The Long Wait
Entry Date - February 14, 2014
Entry Name - Kenji Takeda
You know when you have done something wrong, and it seems that time slows down until you admit what you've done. That's how I felt when waiting and trying to figure out how I was going to tell Sakura about Rika's death. Names after names were called in the shelter, as families and friends were united. Here I was waiting for a name to be called that wasn't going to be called. I knew it was time for me to tell Sakura. I decided that I will break to her in the most painless way possible.
"Sakura... I have something to say."
Sakura turns around with a lovely, but painful look on her face. That kind of face that is ready to hear some heartbreaking news, but have comfort in it. I think the word I'm trying to describe is solace. Just when I'm about to utter the words, the ground begins to shake. A light takes over the shelter and we are instantly floating into space. Everyone is screaming and in awe of the instant transpire events. Sakura is holding her hand over her heart and looks confused about what just happen. We hear fighter jets approaching the shelter, then a voice is heard.
"This is Commander Roy Fokker, please remain calm. We have executed a Space Fold and will now transport all civilians into the SDF-1. Please follow instructions in an orderly fashion, and above all else remain calm."
"Sakura... there is something I have to tell you when we board the SDF-1." I had a strange feeling that things were going to get a little crazy, it was time to confess to my wrong doings. Sakura look at me with a sad look on her face, and took my hand and gently squeezed it.
"I can see it in your eyes Kenji. Rika isn't coming. That explains why your Dragon Chain is a little damaged doesn't it? What happen to my daughter?"
I can't explain the amount of guilt that entered my body in that moment. I gave a big sigh and proceeded to tell Sakura how Rika died. The long wait was over and now all that's left is what reaction will Sakura give. As I went into details about Rika's death, she gripped on my hands tighter and sorrow turned into anger. Sakura then let's go off my hand and slaps me across the face.
"I will never forgive you. Why didn't leave when she asked you? You could have prevented all of this."

Supernatural Review: "The Road So Far"

Supernatural has become one of my top favorite shows and you have no idea how much I voted for them to get a People's Choice Award. Supernatural Season 7 is awesome and it takes you on such a trip with many twists and turns. *Spoiler alert for those who haven't been up to par on the episodes* The last episode when Jim is shot, was the most emotional episode for me. To tell you the truth, I'm new to the Supernatural world, but I have been keeping up with the episodes. This episode made almost cry. My friend and I was watching it together, texting our reactions. All the while I was saying things like "Hold out guys Jim is coming" and "No, no, no!" and my friend was saying in the beginning of the episode "Did Jim lose his mind?" and in the middle of the episode "Dean is mad". Lol my friend and I are silly and I turned her on to Supernatural. Yay me! Anyway, the show is so brilliantly written. Gosh, I love the show so much. All the actors are doing an outstanding job! Keep up the good works everyone. We love you! Supernatural Rules!!!!!!!! ^_^P.S or "Shameless Plug Alert": Check out the new episodes on January 6th at 9 on the CW. That's right! Though they make their way into our lives on a daily basis, I think they purposely hide in closets waiting to celebrate the holidays!I was going to just share some ugly sweater photos but then, I came across this site, Butt Ugly Sweaters, and simply HAD to share! Below are some sweaters, not the ugliest of their bunches, but the most amusing to my eye. Will A Live Action "Akira" Work?

If you're a frequent reader on this site, then you know one thing about me. I HATE LIVE ACTION HOLLYWOOD ANIME MOVIES! I especially hate it when the plot is dumbed down.
Recently for the past couple of months there have been rumors, speculation of the next big Anime live action "Akira." For those who don't know "Akira" is one of the Anime's that made me into an Otaku. "Akira" is one of the Anime's that made Anime into a household name. Now Warner Bros will take their shot on making this a two part movie for American audiences. Below is the rumored synopsis for the film and rumored stars. Keep in mind nothing is confirmed yet, however based on this synopsis I can tell you I'm not happy.
Possible Synopsis
Kaneda (Garrett Hedlund) is a bar owner in Neo-Manhattan who is stunned when his brother, Tetsuo, is abducted by government agents led by The Colonel. Desperate to get his brother back, Kaneda agrees to join with Ky Reed (Kristen Stewart) and her underground movement who are intent on revealing to the world what truly happened to New York City thirty years ago when it was destroyed. Kaneda believes their theories to be ludicrous but after finding his brother again, is shocked when he displays telekinetic powers. Ky believes Tetsuo is headed to release a young boy, Akira, who has taken control of Tetsuo’s mind. Kaneda clashes with The Colonel’s troops on his way to stop Tetsuo from releasing Akira but arrives too late. Akira soon emerges from his prison courtesy of Tetsuo as Kaneda races in to save his brother before Akira once again destroys Manhattan island, as he did thirty years ago.
Thoughts
Okay I know this is an Americanize Akira and some of you won't like me for saying this. However if your going to keep the names of Asian characters, can we at least get Asian actors? I know there are plenty of Asian actors that will fit this film. It's kind of hard to see someone that's not Asian as a guy name Tetsuo and Akira. Let's talk first about the location it will take place in Neo- Manhattan. I have no real problem with this since this will be an American adaption of the Anime/Manga. However I do have a problem with the possible story. Tetsuo and Kaneda brothers? Really! If this is the synopsis did anyone read the Manga or watch the Anime. Kaneda and Tetsuo are best friends and Kaneda is leader of the bike gang "The Capsules." Where did the idea of brothers come along? Also when did Kaneda run a bar? I know this is just a rumor, but if this is the direction the film is going, from the adaptation standpoint and fan point of view it's failing.
The rumors of actors supposedly being approached to do the film is a long list. First it was Keanu Reeves, but he turn it down. Now it's TRON Legacy star Garret Hedlund as Kaneda that is swimming in the rumor pool, but according to IMDB he's been confirmed and so has Ken Watanbe as The Colonel. My biggest concern is the complex plot, will it be reduced for a wider audience? Will people understand who Akira really is? Also what about the violence level in this movie? I think if this is going to work the movie will have to be Rated R. Let's face it "Akira" is violent, dark and has a great theme that if explored correctly can make this film outstanding. The only way I see this film working is sticking to the source material, marketing it to the target audience, and for the love of Otakus everywhere keep the spirit of the Manga and Anime. An Americanize "Akira" is only going to work if it sticks close to the material, if it goes the fan fiction route that Dragonball Evolution took, then we will see another failed attempt of an Anime live action. Bay Area Comic Book Convention Features Today's Best Creators
Berkeley, CA – 15 December 2011 - IMAGE EXPO, the one-of-a-kind celebration commemorating the 20th Anniversary of Image Comics and celebrating creator-owned comics, is announcing many new guests! Joining the Image Comics partners Robert Kirkman, Erik Larsen, Todd McFarlane, Marc Silvestri, and Jim Valentino and Image founders Rob Liefeld and Whilce Portacio, are the following stars of creator-owned comics.
Blair Butler, the host of G4's Fresh Ink and 2011's break out writer of HEART, the comic that shows the human side of MMA, will be joining the line up. Writer John Layman and artist Rob Guillory, co-creators of CHEW, everyone's favorite Eisner Award winning gross-out detective comic will also be there. Add to that rising star Nick Spencer, the writer behind such hits as MORNING GLORIES, FORGETLESS, Ultimate Comics: X-Men, and soon Robert Kirkman's THIEF OF THIEVES, and IMAGE EXPO already has a solid line up!

COMING TO DARK HORSE PRESENTS #11!
December 15, MILWAUKIE, OR – Adding an exciting new layer to Dark Horse Presents, Dark Horse Comics is proud to announce a new three-part story by New York Times best-selling artist for Batman, and current Captain America artist, Francesco Francavilla: The Black Beetle!
The Black Beetle is centered on a pulp-noir character and takes place in a fictional universe that’s based in Colt City. Francavilla published several stories online and even put out an ashcan. When the ashcan sold out, Francesco quickly realized that many fans were interested in exploring this world with him. It was only a matter of time before Dark Horse approached him about bringing some Black Beetle tales to Dark Horse Presents!
“I’m working on a 24-page story, titled ‘Night Shift’ that will be spread over three issues of Dark Horse Presents. I am hugely influenced by pulp stories of the ‘30s and ‘40s, and wanted to develop a series that used that influence as a jumping-off point to explore some modern storytelling with fun twists. I think this will be a great introduction to readers who are new to this character and universe, but will also be an exciting new adventure for those who’ve been reading the online stories over the years,” Francesco states.
“As a huge fan of pulp and noir, working on my own characters and stories really gives me free reign to explore this world and create lots of fun scenarios and thrilling situations. The stories are definitely full of mystery and intrigue, plus I get to give The Black Beetle lots of cool and funky gadgets. ‘Night Shift’ promises to be full of action, excitement, danger, and double-crosses, so I am overjoyed to see this new tale in print, and hope this is the first of many more to come in Dark Horse Presents.”

Top Cow Celebrates with Giant-Sized Landmark Issue Berkeley, CA – 12 December 2011 – Image Comics and Top Cow Productions are proudly spotlighting the landmark 150th issue of their iconic original comic book series this week with an over-sized issue full of extras. WITCHBLADE #150 also marks Ron Marz’s 70th consecutively written issue of one of the longest running comics with a single female lead, and a major turning point in the life of Sara Pezzini. In addition to providing a story that serves as a fitting conclusion to Marz and artist Stjepan Sejic's critically acclaimed run, WITCHBLADE #150 will also serve as a retrospective of their contributions and the longevity of the series overall. As a special bonus, the issue also includes preview material for WITCHBLADE #151, when the new creative team of Tim Seeley (HACK/SLASH) and Diego Bernard (The Man With No Name) take the reins of Top Cow’s flagship title. "It's bittersweet, definitely," Marz reflected.
