Robotech Panel: New York Comic Con 2011

On Saturday I went to the Robotech Panel at New York Comic Con 2011. It was a great two hours with the people from Harmony Gold. The panel started off with a Q & A session. Here are some questions that was answered at the panel.

Will Robotech have a live action movie?

Harmony Gold: Yes, Warner Bros have the license, but we want to put out a good story worthy of the Robotech franchise.

Will there be another Robotech game, we haven't had one since Battlecry?

Harmony Gold: Warner Bros has the license for the game, we'll try to get another game someday.

Will the new Robotech animated film have the descendants of Rick Hunter and Max Sterling?

Harmony Gold: *Laughs* maybe.

That was just some of the question's asked. Prizes was given away and then we got a few clips from the Robotech Documentary. The Robotech Documentary main focus is on Carl Macek and how much he influence, and responsible for Robotech in the USA. The voice actors from the show, talk about their interactions with Carl, and how passionate he was about Robotech. The clip shown was very moving, and it really made you want to see more. It was great to see all the voice actors talk about their experiences filming for the show. Once the clips were done, we got a decent teaser of the new Robotech: Animated Movie. The animation is similar to that of Shadow Chronicles, and is taking place in the same universe. The trailer only show shots of a battle, an explosion and a pilot who we can't really guess who it is. The new movie should be finish next year, and the title will be revealed by the end of the year. Overall it was a good panel and showed a lot of what Robotech Anniversary Boxset will offer, like the untold story movie, and bunch of other stuff.

Life Of Innocence (Anime Poem)

Hey Otakus here is the poem I wrote and gave to Todd Haberkorn at New York Comic Con. He enjoyed it and hope you will too. Anime Rules!!!!

Life of Innocence
By: Ashley Williams

Darkness has been looming over me,
Ever since I tried to get you back.
Since then you cursed me,
And I’ve learned to keep living on without you.
I regret turning you into a monster,
But I don’t regret this eye,
That you gave as a curse,
For it was a blessing in disguise.
I can see things now that can help others,
I have found a family to love and to hold.
So I thank you for helping me,
Find this power locked inside of me.
The life of innocence is not easy,
Nor is it full of safe walls.
However I have friends to help.
Get me through the worst of them all.
Thank you for everything you’ve done,
Thanks for being my dad,
And being with me till the very end.
Love you Mana,
Allen Walker

KEY OF Z Review

Hey guys Sean (The Comic Guy ) Today I'm going to review and show some photos when I visited the creators of Key Of Z in their booth at the New York Comic Con. Last week I posted some news about the title from Evil Ink and Boom Studios, now this week I'm going to give you guys a review after getting the chance to sit down and read the Comic.

Key Of Z

Exclusive NYCC cover by Declan Shalvey.

Story: The zombie apocalypse has transformed New York City into a city of the dead. Two warring gangs have made their homes in two of NYC most famous baseball stadiums. Nick Ewing is left to survive while seeking revenge on those responsible for the death of his family.

Review:
Key Of Z is awesome. The first issue was a great read with all the gore you expect from a Zombie comic. I'm looking forward to finding out what happened to Nick Ewing's Family and what's the deal with that harmonica? If you like the Walking Dead, this comic is definitely a good pick to add to your collection.

Funny thing about this photo, if i wasn't looking up to take the picture I would have had the unfortunate pleasure of seeing the fat guy in the princess leia slave costume. (mind scrub for those who saw it )

The Digital Comics looked great on the screens. Everyone get a tablet and get your favorite comics.

Spin the Wheel and win a prize.
Dark Horse had a prize wheel with some awesome giveaways.

I was standing on line with Jeff and some of the other guys from Otakus and Geeks to try my luck.
Unfortunately my luck is all bad. No prize for me, but jeff won $2 in credit for digital comics.

Had a great time at the Dark Horse Booth and at Comic Con. If you want more info on Dark Horse Comics and any of their Title Go to darkhorse.com

Interview With Ashley Eckstein

Geeky Girl, Sci-Fi, Star Wars, could it get any better. Actually it just did. We had an awesome interview with Ashley Eckstein, the voice of Ahsoka Tano on Star Wars: The Clone Wars. We chat with Ashley about "Star Wars," her brand line "Her Universe" and more.

OtakusandGeeks.com: How did you start Her Universe?

Ashley Eckstein: It really started because selfishly I wanted more Sci-Fi products made for women. I'm a fan girl myself, and I only had one Star Wars shirt, my husband had ten. I said something is wrong there, because I'm the bigger fan. I then went to the internet and did research and found out that female merchandise was close to non existent. I also found that close to half of Sci-Fi fans are women, and they wasn't really giving anything for us to buy. So that's when I founded "Her Universe." I went to Lucas Film and said give me a shot to design some of your female merchandise. I have to give Lucas Film credit they we're the first company to give me a chance. Of course Syfy as well they're really excited as well.

OtakusandGeeks.com: What's the goal for "Her Universe?"

Ashley Eckstein: The goal is to make girls geek cheek from head to toe. We're just been around a year and a half and added two more licenses, which I'm excited about. "Her Universe" is not only a merchandise line, it's also a community for female fans. I wanted to create a safe place for women to come and join conversation no matter what they love, whether it's Star Wars, Battlestar Galatica, Doctor Who, Star Trek, even Disney. We have many girls who have create have build strong friendships through our site, Facebook and Twitter. That was the goal from the beginning.

OtakusandGeeks.com: How does it feel to be a Jedi?

Ashley Eckstein: It's amazing, very humbling. Never in a million years did I think I would have this opportunity. Also sometimes I feel like I have a lot of training to do, to fill Ahsoka shoes I'm not quite as tough as she is but I'm trying *laughs*. It's a dream come true, life changing, being part of the Star Wars franchise really changes your life. It opens you up to an entire group of people that welcomes you with open arms. It's just very humbling. I feel like I just didn't gain a role, but an army of people who will have a my back.

OtakusandGeeks.com: Do you have a favorite design that you did for "Her Universe"?

Ashley Eckstein: That is a tough one, that decision is like a Mom choosing between her kids *laughs.* There is a story behind every design. The one special to me will be the crystal hats. They were all glue by hand, crystal by crystal. Before I founded "Her Universe" I would bedazzle hats and give them out to friends. The crystal hats would be onre close to me, since it was of the first products for "Her Universe."

OtakusandGeeks.com: Any plans "Her Universe" will be in stores?

Ashley Eckstein: Right now it's avaialble at "Her Universe." Hopefully it will be in more stores by next year, Disney just picked us up for their parks. Between Disney and our website and hopefully in stores in 2012.

OtakusandGeeks.com: Any hints you can give us with the next season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars?

Ashley Eckstein: It's called season four Battlelines, it's very action pack. Ahsoka discovers more emotion around her age, she gets to act her age for once since she is around adults most of the time. She will be interacting with certain characters again, but that's all I will say.

OtakusandGeeks.com: How much of Ahsoka is from your input, and how much is organic is from the writing?

Ashley Eckstein: As an actress it makes your job easier, if you got great writing. Our writing staff is amazing. One thing from the very beginning, and this was even part of the reason I was cast. I was cast because I messed up in my audition, the way I acted between takes I was beaten myself up because I messed up. That was similar to Ahsoka or what they had in mind, because she is a Padawan and she is trying so hard to meet their expectations, and to be the best Padawan she can be, they actually cast me more for how I acted in between takes. They said be yourself and bring a lot of your personality into it, I've been grateful to be allow to put a little input.

OtakusandGeeks.com: Any final words?

Ashley Eckstein: Thank you all for your support. Her Universe is more than a merchandise brand, it's a community of female fans, we're just trying to debunk the stereotype the Sci-Fi is just for guys. Sci-Fi is for everyone, and the more we speak up and say the women are here and we love, we can debunk the stereotype. Once again thanks for all your support.
