Entry 2 – Countdown
Entry Date – January 27 2014
Entry Name – Kenji Takeda

I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was giant robot standing tall over me. It was holding a huge gun in its hands. It had to be at least 45 feet tall. I was terrified and amazed at the same time. My body was shaking, my mouth was dry.

“What are you standing around for? Get to the shelter.” The voice yelled.

The giant robot pointed north. I figured that’s where the shelter would be. The question for me was how I get there. Walking would be suicide, there had to be something I could use. I turn to my left and saw a beautiful blue and black motorcycle. By a miracle it wasn’t damage. I just hope that the motorcycle still had gas in it. I walked over to the bike and started it up. The engine roared to life. Hearing that engine was bittersweet. It reminded me of the days when Rika use to ride on my bike, back when had races after class. It was time for me to go. I took one more glance at Rika’s death site and I couldn’t help but cry. The pain of losing someone that you love is something you can’t describe. It’s one of those emotions that you just have to feel for yourself. I started the motorcycle and heading north. My speed was about 50 miles per hour. As I was driving the only thing I could see is death. There were bodies, upon bodies, blood and guts all over the area.

I approach a sign that said Macross Highway. I use to take the highway to get home. Home I kept thinking to myself, my friends, my family and most importantly my dragon chain Rika gave me. I had to go see if everyone was alright. I took the highway and push the bike to over 100 miles. The highway was clear, but the skies weren’t clear. You can see the battle that was taken place. Faster I push the bike to its full speed. I just had to get home. My exit was only a few more miles then suddenly, a huge object crashed onto the highway. I yield to the left and barely dodge it. I took a glance up and saw three more objects falling towards me. This was going to be the end of me. Truthfully I didn’t care whether this will be the end, life without Rika is worst than death. I was slowly decreasing my speed. I wanted to get hit and be splatter into the pavement. I didn’t care anymore, who wants to live if all you’ll be doing is mourning.

“Don’t give up Kenji.”
“Rika?” I screamed.

I don’t know if that was Rika or not, but I put the motorcycle in full speed. It was a race to my exit. The three objects were coming in fast. The first object came towards me and I yield to right. The second was coming and I press the brakes and yield to the left. The final one was coming and this one was coming straight for me. I sped towards it and yield to right and barely escape the collision. I then went to my exit and drove straight home.

To my surprise my home was empty. Thankfully it wasn’t too damage, just a destroyed wall and broken pipes. I quickly ran to my room and went into my drawer and took my dragon chain and a picture of Rika. My parents gone must mean they went to the shelter. Time was short and I needed to know if they’re okay. I got back on the motorcycle and sped off to get to the location where the shelter is. Back on the road I can tell that the battle was getting closer and closer. Gunfire, explosions and screams can be heard all over Macross Island. What the hell was going on? Who were we fighting? These were the question entering my mind. Then I finally got my answers. I stop my motorcycle, and got off the bike. I couldn’t believe what I saw. It was a giant human, or at least I think it’s human. It’s dead. I once again couldn’t move due to fear. What is this thing? What is happening to me? I couldn’t just stand here. I ran back to my bike and drove straight to the shelter.

Fifteen minutes later I arrived at the shelter. The shelter had to be one of the most depressing places ever. People were looking for lost love ones, children crying for their parents. The wounded were getting treated for injuries. Truthfully I rather be outside dodging for my life, than stay in this depressing places. The shelter was huge place. I estimate that it could fit at least 75,000 people in this one place alone. Finding my family and friends would be difficult. It doesn’t help that the phones aren’t working.

“KENJI!” The familiar voice yelled.

I turned around and it was the one person I didn’t want to see. The person who called me was, a very sweet old woman who I knew since I was young boy. Sakura Takahashi was Rika’s mother. She ran to me and gave me a huge hug. I couldn’t help but feel some type of guilt or regret. I knew the question she was about to ask me.

“Kenji you’re safe. Where is Rika?” Sakura asked.
I didn’t know what to say. What do you say in a situation like this? How do you explain to someone that their child is dead?

“Sakura, Rika is…..”

Scream 4 Review

Do you like scary movies? What is your favorite scary movie? Scream 4 sees the return of Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courtney Cox for this 4th installment. The movie is directed by Wes Craven. Is this movie a scream or should this series finally rest in peace?

Story - Sidney Prescott, now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey and Gale, who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill and her Aunt Kate. Unfortunately, Sidney's appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger. That is the story synopsis.

Is Scream 4 better than Scream 3? The answer is yes. Does Scream 4 bring back horror back to it's glory days of fear and suspense? The answer is no. Don't make no mistake Scream 4 is not a bad film. It's fun, entertaining and that would be great if it was in any other genre. However Scream 4 is a horror flick and instead the story actually focusing on the horror. We get a social commentary on the latest trends, and how bad remakes and other horror films are. It seem like every chance they got the characters were bashing remakes, or Saw. I do agree with the social commentary, but I expect to see something like that on a Podcast or Convention. The story is interesting only up to the third act. As you're watching the film, you really will become invested into wanting to know who is the killer and what are the motives. However by the third act it will become clear who the killer is. The killer motive has to be the worst motive out of the last three movies. I won't spoil it, but it's something that only a teen could think of *hint*. The pacing works well, however the kills are the weakest in the series. The fear factor is overshadow by jokes and pop culture references like Facebook and Twitter. The story suffers from the same formula, that the movie itself bashes other films on. Lack of characterization on some of the key figures in the movie. The killer you really don't know nothing about. You just know why they are doing it. Other than those complaints. The story is enjoyable to watch, the main characters are interesting and the phone calls from Ghostface are always a pleasure.

Acting - The acting is enjoyable to watch. Neve Campbell still owns this series. Courtney Cox is great as Gail and her character even jokes "I still got it." The people from the previous films all play the characters as you are used to seeing them. The new additions are okay. Not much to say about their performances. It's played really safe. They play high school kids who are in danger of being killed. Emma Roberts play a really good innocence sweet girl and you feel for her character until the third act. I felt in third act, she came off as just bratty. Otherwise no complaints on the acting.

Music & Filmmaking - The music does not get your heart pumping to intensity. The soundtrack lacks the suspenseful depth that you look in a horror film. It has it's moments but it lacks a punch for the K.O. The film is nicely shot in pure Wes Craven style. However like I said the kills are lame and repetitive. You think Ghostface would have involved his killing methods. The movie does it's job by inversing you into this world.

Final Grade C+/**1/2 Stars - Scream 4 does not bring horror back to it's roots. The movie is far from scary or suspenseful. You can guess who is next to die, by the third act you will know who the killer is. The social commentary on horror is unwanted and the movie should of focus on the horror in the film. The acting is good, but the ending will leave you saying that was the reason for all of this. Average horror film at best.

An Everyday 'Road to Lolita'

Ohhhh my! It's my last consecutive post about a very interesting & colorful road to Lolita(hood). I'm seeing that I could go on and on about this forever & ever AMEN! But help us all, there's TOOOONNNSSS of other Otaku & Geek fashion out there to cover.
Don't worry! I'm not stopping my Lolita movement around these parts, so I'll still post about my Lolita MISS-Adventures and even some interviews by some amazing Lolis! Until then, I'm going to be sure to leave you with some tips from my Loli buddy, Loli Hara, on getting into Lolita & some ways to carry Lolita with you everyday, even when you can't dress 100%

What would your advice be to those getting into lolita?

I would say that you should put YOU into that look however you can, because eventually you will be asked to explain why you’re dressing this way. I think you should understand where that style comes from, why people dress that way, and be able to relate that back to why YOU do it. Even if its just as simple as, it’s cute.” While doing you, I would suggest still looking at pictures of culturally authentic , and learning what the other styles are. Like, I have dressed more Lolita, but my style is kind of more kawaii.

If you understand fundamentally what that style is, you don’t have to order your clothes from overseas. You can find cool pieces in places as mainstream as Macy’s. And the BIGGEST thing of course is to do it with confidence, knowing that (especially if you’re black) you’re doing something very different that your local culture may not have made room for. Either you’re going to pave the way for others to do it…or you won’t. It’s not really like you owe the world anything. If that’s really a part of you, then let that be enough to keep you motivated, even if others give you the o_O face.

In transforming into your Lolita-self, Loli Hara gave me a few pointers on integrating some accessories into everyday wear, in the event that you can't dress Loli, but you feel it in your soul! Here are some pics of what she integrates in everyday wear.

I'm still getting my "traditional" Lolita closet together, but these are some fun "do me" looks that I've been able to pull off ... mostly with items that were in my closet that screamed "I'm cute so wear me!"

Right now, I'm into accessorizing my ears, socks, & bloomers BABY!
   But I'm getting close!
Until the next time! Enjoy your Road to Lolita & feel free to share with us here ANYTIME! >^.*<

Cyborg She Review

Can a lonely guy find love with a Cyborg Girl from the future? Can a Cyborg really learn how to love and earn a soul? Is this movie worth watching?

Story - One day, a beautiful cyborg girl appears in front of a dull university student. Even though the cyborg starts to like him, she can’t truly feel emotions, so the boy has no choice but to say goodbye. Missing her, he continues his lonely existence. One day, a disastrous earthquake hits Tokyo and the cyborg girl saves his life. In that moment, she starts to have feelings like a real human being.

That is the story synopsis. The story is wonderful to watch. What really makes the story is the characters. The main character Jiro is this lonely guy who is having a date with himself on his birthday. He has no real friends, no girlfriend and no other family. He is spending his birthday having a table for one at a restaurant eating noodles, when this girl who has been following him shows up at his table. His life goes from boring to interesting. What progresses is a love story that expands over past, future and present. The love story is a little cliche, but it is done in a way that the story is refreshing. Only problem I had with the story is that there are times where logic is gone. For example there is a scene where the Cyborg goes back to the past in a Terminator like way, however this event is not reported on the news or nobody questions it. It's clearly full of witnesses but nobody says anything. I found that kind of hard to believe. Other than that little complaint, the story is enjoyable to watch. The story raises the same themes that many stories ask when it comes to Cyborg. Can a cyborg understand human emotions? Can a human and cyborg be in love? The story answers these questions but it's done with a twist. The ending is beautifully done and there are things left out for a reason until the ending. Trust me this a good story. One of the great themes of the film is that you can't change history, but you can't escape your fate.

Acting - The acting is awesome. The acting makes the film so much better. Keisuke Koide (Jiro) and Haruka Ayase (Cyborg) are great to watch together. These two have wonderful chemistry on screen, The movie would have fail if the chemistry between these two didn't work. Haruka plays a Cyborg that has emotional depth but at the same time doesn't understand human emotions. This conflicting of the dualities makes this Cyborg much more complex. One of the best scenes in the movie is when Jiro returns to his hometown and his past is revealed. You can feel the emotion on the Cyborg face, that she is waking up to human emotions. Another highlight of the scene is the Robot dance. It's very entertaining and I would say this is one of the best performances I seen regarding a Cyborg.

Trailer

Music & Filmmaking - The OST is amazing. The music uses so much strings and piano for the composition. The OST can be a silent film on it's right. The insert songs add to the romantic feel and describes Jiro feelings for the Cyborg more. The direction is surprising. Usually some of these films are really low budget and you can tell. This film however you can see that some money really went into it's production. This movie has some amazing shots, especially near the cherry blossoms. Towards the end the special effects did get a little cheesy, but for the most part this was a pretty good budget film.

Final Grade B+/8.5 - Cyborg She is a unique take on a man love for his artificial girlfriend. It's funny, entertaining and even gets a little deep. The twist is nice and the music and production is great. The acting has wonderful chemistry and if you like to see a good romantic movie involving a cyborg give this one a shot.

Marc Angelo's "My Final Fantasy" Review

Album Title - My Final Fantasy
Artist - Marc Angelo
Release Date - 12/05/2010

Review - What would happen if Nobuo Uematsu music of Final Fantasy met the sounds of Hip Hop? Chances are it would sound something like Marc Angelo's "My Final Fantasy" instrumental Beat Tape. How does the clash of two different genres of music hold up? Will the victory theme be played at the end? Or is this game over?

Let me tell you that Angelo captures both the spirit of Hip Hop and Final Fantasy. There is 22 tracks in all with three bonus tracks. The Beat Tape features samples from most of your favorite Final Fantasy games. Final Fantasy 7,8,9,10 are sampled the most. The first track is entitled "The Introduction" and rightly so. This track contains a very nice string sample and a bass beat to make you feel relax. After "The Introduction" the music goes to another level. The second track entitled "To Another Dimension" this song contains samples from the Hymm Of Faith from Final Fantasy X. The Hymm, mix with piano and bass will set fans ears to heaven. This is probably one of my favorite tracks on the Beat Tape. Marc Angelo made sure that the parts he sampled, not only make the theme feel refreshing to hear but still capture the spirit of the games. Some standout tracks to mention are "Summoning Spirits" where the vocals of the song "Melodies Of Life" is used in a loop form, over a beat. This technique works and it's one of the tracks you will have on repeat. Another standout track is "Are You Afraid?" which is a slow down version but more tempo theme of Seymour from Final Fantasy X. There are a few tracks that didn't catch my ears. Most of these tracks were the bonus tracks. I felt the rappers rapping over the instrumental didn't do the production justice. Overall if you are a Final Fantasy fan and love Hip Hop, then this a combination that you can't miss. Final grade is A-/9.0.

You can download Marc Angelo's Free Beat Tape "My Final Fantasy" here. You have to sign up and register. Listen to it here.

Yoo Ninja (App Review)

Yoo Ninja is app game developed by Runner Games. It's available for free on your Android market. Is this Ninja game worth the download? Or should you Yoo something else?

Story - There is a story mode, however the story is not told at all. There are no cutscenes to explain the story. You just dive right into the game.

Gameplay - The gameplay is simple. Ninja runs towards his destination. It's up to player to make sure he gets there safely. Ninja must jump from course to course without falling out of the screen. The controls is easy just tap the screen to make Ninja go up or down. The story mode consists of sections. It contains the Jungle, Village, Marine and Castle. As you progress the course gets harder and much faster. It does a great job keeping the challenge and you will be hook once you meet the Marine level. The game also features a mode called "Endless." In this mode you choose a level, the speed and go through an endless course until you reach the highest score. The gameplay is simple and it's a great way to kill time.

Graphics - The art style is simple and works very well. The backgrounds are nicely drawn and the sprite for Ninja is clean and crips. The designs for the courses are wonderful as well. Trust me the courses will have you playing over and over until you get a perfect.

Sound - The sound consists of one song. It's a very Ninja type song that you expect. Contains guitar, drums and the strings. You will grow tired of the music after a while. Thankfully there is a music off button.

Replay Value - The story mode will keep you busy and the endless mode is a great addition. Outside those two modes there is nothing to keep you to stay. However this is a great time killer for when you're on the road.

Final Grade B-/8.0 - Yoo Ninja is a fun, fast pace gravity game that will keep you entertain. The game is challenging and has some great artwork.

Robotech Fanfiction: Entry #1 Boobytrap

Justin Notes – The following Fanfiction is based on the events of Robotech: The Macross Saga. The story of the Macross Saga will be seen through the eyes of a Macross Island civilian. I wanted to tell a story of the Robotech War from a civilian’s point of view. The Fanfiction is told through journal entries from the civilian. There will be 36 entries in all, one for each episode of The Macross Saga. There will be a new entry each week. Enjoy.

Entry 1 – Boobytrap
Entry Date: January 21 2014
Entry Name: Kenji Takeda

My name is Kenji Takeda. I’ve never been one to talk about my life. However my doctor said talking about the events that has happen to me will help me heal. I guess I should start from the beginning. *Sighs* this won’t be easy. Here we go.

The year was 2009 A.D. This was the year that forever changed my life and the citizens of Macross Island. It was suppose to be a glorious day. The city was full of excitement, because the Super Dimension Fortress or SDF-1 was going to be launched. The SDF-1 landed on earth during the world wars in 1999. This event immediately ended all wars and mankind banded together to repair the ship. It took approximately ten years to repair the ship. In the month of February 2009 the SDF-1 was going to launch. Needless to say I was ecstatic and I wanted to see this historic event. School was closed for the day, so students can go watch the launch. My friends Shiro Sato, Yoshi Mori and my girlfriend Rika Takahashi all decided to see the Aero Acrobatics show. The show started off with a pilot named Roy Fokker explaining something called Robotech Technology. The sun was out. I had Rika on my arm and my two best friends by my side. Nothing could ruin this day. Roy Fokker approaches the stage and began explaining as the pilots flew.

“Today you’ll see how we applied human know how to a complex alien technology. Keep your eyes on planes two and four, flying at speeds at 800 miles per hour. Only fifty feet above the ground they will pass just a few yards of each other. Robotech technology makes such precision possible.” Fokker explained.

I can’t begin to explain my amazement seeing those planes fly so dangerously. It’s something you had to see for yourself. As the planes were flying there was an interruption. A smaller plane flew into the show. Fokker was pissed you can see it on his face.

“RICK! Is that you Rick Hunter? Are you crazy? Get that junk heap out of here! Hunter when I get my hands on you…” Fokker yelled.

The pilot was better than the Robotech pilots. He took his little jet and flew vertical towards the sky pass the other pilots. I know a little about planes, but what he did was a simple booster climb. I know this because my dad is a mechanic and he worked on some of the Robotech planes. Dad will always talk about terms I didn’t understand such as, Veritechs, Guardians and more.

Anyway after the show Rika and I decided to go to a nice Chinese restaurant to get some food. Shiro and Yoshi went home. Rika and I sat down and ordered some Chow Mien. I tell you there is nothing I enjoy more than spending time with Rika. She is everything I could ask for in a girl. Rika has beautiful long black hair, brown eyes, and the cutest face that would give Jan Morris a run for her money. Her smile can make any rainy day sunny. I was really lucky to have her. I’m not bad myself I’m 5’7 around 155 lbs, spiky black hair and brown eyes. Our food arrived and we started talking about our plans.

“Why don’t you want to follow your father’s path as a mechanic? You seem to be a little curious about these planes he works on.” Rika said.

“I don’t have a passion for it Rika. We’ve been through this before. I want to do something that I’ am passionate about. Why spend your entire life doing something you don’t want to do? That’s the main problem with this world Rika. Many people go through life not following they’re dreams.” I replied.

Rika smiled at me and took a bite of her Chow Mien. She placed her hands on mine, and then gave me that smile. It was the smile that made me fall in love. I lean into her and gave her kiss. As we kiss the ground shook and we heard a large boom. The boom was so loud that I fell out of my chair. Gunfire can be heard all over.

“What is that Kenji?” Rika asked.

“Stay here I’m going to check it out.” I said.

I don’t know what I was thinking at the moment. I just knew I had to see what was going on. I ran outside and gazed up into the sky and there I saw it. The most horrible sight a human being can witness. I saw war. We were under attack and the SDF-1 had deployed all of the fighters. I couldn’t move. I was in total shock. Rika came outside and grabbed my hand tightly.

“Kenji we have to get out of here! Kenji please!” Rika pleaded.

I finally snapped out of it. That’s when I heard a large boom. One of the fighters had been shot down. It was heading straight towards us. I grabbed Rika and ran into the nearest building. We took cover under a table and hugged each other.

“Kenji if we don’t make it out of here. I just want to say I love you.” Rika cried.

“Don’t say that Rika. We will make it out of here.” I said.

The fighter crashed right into the roof of the building causing a huge explosion. The building started to shake and all I can hear was Rika screaming as we fell down to the basement floor. Trapped, we were trapped under debris. It was dark and I couldn’t see anything. Lucky I felt something like a flashlight near my right hand. I took it and turn it on. Thankfully the only thing I was trapped under was a table on my foot. I quickly use my free leg and body to get the table off. I was breathing heavy. Where was Rika?

“Rika! Rika! Rika say something if you can hear me.” I screamed.

I search around the area with no sign of Rika. Could she be unconscious? I walked around the basement illuminating the light everywhere. I came across some debris with some of Rika’s clothing. I started quickly removing some debris. What I saw is something I will never forget. Rika’s hand was sticking out of the debris. I grabbed the hand to pull her body out, but there was no body. Only the hand was found.

“Rika! Rika! No! Why? SOMEBODY HELP ME! CAN ANYONE HEAR ME? HELP!” I cried but no one can hear me.

Minutes felt like hours as I held Rika’s hand close to my heart, I cried for my love. It seemed that my end will be near. Then another crashed came, the impact open a hole in the basement. Sunlight I could see sunlight. I look back on more time at Rika’s death site. I took the flashlight and followed my way outside. Outside was pure destruction, you can hear cries for help, children looking for their parents and smell death. I look around and a huge giant robot was standing over me. What was my dad working on? What was happening to the world? These questions and revenge is what I wanted now. That fateful February day my life was over.
