High School Of The Dead (Anime Impression)

My friends and other Otakus kept saying to me. "Justin you have to watch High School Of The Dead." Did you see High School Of The Dead yet? Well truthfully I haven't watch it yet, because I'm still finishing Madlax, Ergo Proxy and D.N. Angel. Well I finally decided to watch a few episodes. A few episodes turn into 9 episodes. I must say that this one of the best Anime I've seen in a while. I was blown away to finally see an Anime about zombies. This isn't like a silly zombie anime show, this something I've been waiting to see. A zombie drama show and with "The Walking Dead" just a few weeks away. This show kept my zombie needs feed.

What I Like - So far from the nine episodes I have seen. I'm in love with the drama. I love how this anime is showing the real effects of the zombie apocalypse. Naturally humans are going crazy killing each other. Everyone is trying to survive and make the best of the situation. I really love the characters in this story. Especially Takashi Komuro I'm not going spoil anything. All I have to say is the first two episodes is wow. The animation is beautiful. There are some CGI use but it's done so well you can't really tell. The music I'm so in love with. If anyone knows the insert song at the end of Episode 1, please let me know.

What I Don't Like - The only thing I don't like is the fan service. I mean it's really, really overused in this anime. Like I said in Episode Ten Podcast Show "I Love Boobies." There is no way a woman with huge breast like that can move that fast. But hey it's fiction right. Overall it's a really good show I can't wait to see more.

The Best Cosplayers Of New York Comic Con 2010

Well all our pictures are uploaded to the computer. Plus I have some pictures from my good friend Betty. Well my Otakus and Geeks readers out their let's look at the best of the best. Keep in mind this is just from our photo albums. You might have seen better if you went to the event. Much love to Betty for allowing us to share the pictures you took.

Beatrix (Kill Bill)

Wonderful and this was the second runner up for Cosplay Girl Of The Week. We absolutely loved her as Beatrix. She has a great smile and look at the way she holds that sword. Here is a second pic. I can really see her as a wonderful Supergirl Cosplay.

Kitana

Our Cosplay Girl Of The Week "Kitana." She was played by Akita who was kind enough to tell us her name in our comment section. Here is a bonus pic of Keenan (Bess) getting Kitana's wrath.

Princess Leia

We always love Leia's slave girl look and this is no different. Plus I love the tattoos.

The Deadpool Family

Probably one of my favorites. This Deadpool couple really planned this out and look at the little Deadpool doll. As Ashley (Anime Angel) said "Awww."

The Emperor

His Cosplay is everything that I hope it will be. He even did the Emperor's hand gesture.

Lightning

It wouldn't be Cosplay without Final Fantasy. This girl was far the best Lightning we seen. She even walked like her.

Horn Girl?

I'm not really sure what this is suppose to be. But I have a feeling it has to do with Japanese culture. Let us know in the comment section.

Edward Scissorhands

Edward Scissorhands was great. My friend Betty ask to take the picture and he just started pointing the hands towards us. He was really in character great.

Ghostbuster

When I have a problem with a ghost I know who to call. I'm calling this guy. Another pic taken by Betty. I seen many Ghostbusters at the con but they all were missing the specks on the top of the head. I really want a proton pack.

The Joker

This Joker might not be great, when it comes to clothing appearance. However this Joker had something the others didn't. He literally was in character and made us go, um we're going to take the pic and run. That's what Cosplay is about, people being the character, it's not about just putting on the outfit. A big shout out to this Joker.

The X-Men

Oh man I literally was secretly going crazy when I saw them pose. This was the best group pose to me. A wonderful pose and wonderful shot Betty took.

Captain America & Wonder Woman

Never though Marvel and DC will be together. Well in this pic it happen. This guy was the best Captain America. He nailed it and do you see how big that shield is? \

The Watchmen

I like this picture of The Comedian and Roarshach. A very good Cosplay.

The X-Women?

I think one is a female Wolverine, but I'm not sure about the others.

Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode 1 Review

Sonic he can really move. Sonic he has an attitude. Sonic he's the fastest thing alive. After a few questionable Sonic titles and a huge outcry from fans. Sega has returned Sonic back to his roots. However does going back home a good thing or should Sonic should finally rest in peace?

Story - There is no real storyline in this game. It's back to good old days. Sonic must rescue his animal friends from the evil Dr. Eggman.

Gameplay - Sonic 4 is a 2.5D side platform game. If you played any 2D Sonic game, then you know what to expect. However this Sonic game has a couple new editions to it. A couple new mechanics is that Sonic is now able to lock onto his enemies. This will be a hit or miss for purist, because it kind of makes the game even more easier. Players are now able to choose their level of any stage they want. This could be another hit or miss purist. There are only four levels each with three acts and one boss fight. The levels are as followed Splash Hill, Casino Street, Lost Labyrinth, and Mad Gear. Splash Hill is inspired by the first Sonic's Green Hill Zone. Casino Street is what you expect on a Sonic Casino stage, a lot of rings, 1up's and of course the bouncing around. Lost Labyrinth is the infamous underwater level. I hated it in Sonic 1 and in Sonic 4 I really hate it. However I do love the challenge of the puzzles in this level. Mad Gear zone is the last zone and it reminded of Scrap Brain zone from the first one. The final boss is hard. Compare to the easy bosses, the final boss is a welcome great challenge. This wouldn't be a sonic game without emeralds. Sega made sure that this game was nostalgic. The special stages are very similar to Sonic 1 but very brutal. This time the special stages are timed, unlike Sonic 1 where you can take your time. Good luck when you reach special stage 4.

The gameplay is what you would expect from the 2D Sonic game. However there are just a few minor complaints. These complaints don't ruin the experience in anyway. 1. The camera takes to long to pan up when Sonic is looking up. 2. Sonic isn't really fast in this game, unless your press the homing attack. I just felt that Sonic should start off with his speed, in this one he takes too long. Also I was hoping for a little more items, like the one's seen in Sonic 3. In this game we get the classic shield, speed, and temporary invincibility. Other than that the gameplay is solid and Sonic is back.

Gameplay Video

Graphics - The graphics are great. Although I felt that at times the camera zoomed in too much, it made Sonic look big. The backgrounds in Lost Labyrinth looks like someone took a picture and place in the game. The frame rate runs smoothly and the water graphics could of been better. Still it brings the original Sonic feel that we all know and love.

Sound - The music is back to that 16-bit sound. However it's not something I will be rushing to find. The music I think is the weakness aspect in the game. The music sounds uninspired and generic. When it comes to sound effects nothing has changed.

Replay Value - With 7 emeralds to collect, the desire to be number one on the leaderboards. You will be playing this for a while, but once the nostalgia wears off there isn't much to offer. The game will take you at least 2 hours to beat.

Final Grade B- Sonic 4 Episode 1 gets a B-. The game is heading into the right direction. Let's hope in Episode 2 they fix some of the camera issues and make the music better. However the gameplay is fun, solid with a few new editions. The final boss and special stages are hard. Sonic is back but at a price of 15 bucks. I say wait for the bundle.

Tron Legacy Panel

I went to the Tron Legacy Panel with my friend Betty. Needless to say it wasn't what I was expecting. I thought that it being the Tron Legacy Panel we would see clips of the movie. Or at least someone who worked on the film. Sadly to say there was no one. You are probably wondering what the panel was about then. The panel was actually Tron's new upcoming video game "Tron Evolution." The producers, developers and some guy who is working the comic book showed up. To make it short they showed us a power point presentation of what to expect in the game. There will be a new virus invasion, new characters and of course the light cycles look bad ass. The game will be using the Unreal Engine. So fans of the unreal engine should rejoice. The gameplay of the light cycle looks pretty good. It's great that they added online play so players can race with friends all over the globe. Overall it was a good panel. I just wish we got stuff from the movie.

Here is some pics my friend Betty took at the panel. Tron Evolution will be available on all systems and I-Phones.

Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage (Screenshots & Gameplay Footage)

I got a cool email on the new Fist Of The North Star Game. Read about it below and check out the English version clips.

In Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage, players assume the role of Ken, a man with seven scars on his chest and the chosen successor of the legendary assassin’s art known as Hokuto Shinken. Sworn to protect the weak and innocent from malicious gangs roaming the post-apocalyptic planet, players use Ken’s trademark moves to decimate enemies on his quest to find his long-lost love.
Tearing through the scorched landscape, manga and action fans will pummel their way through dozens of enemies at once and crush obstacles in their path, using them against their foes. They will execute blistering finish attacks in faithfully recreated environments ripped straight from the comic legend. But Ken doesn’t need to fight alone – he’s joined by an unforgettable cast of playable characters from the Fist of the North Star universe, including Mamiya and Rei, among others.

Action and manga fans will experience Ken’s origins and many more characters and plotlines for themselves in Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage.

Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage fights its way to stores November 2, 2010 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Grant Morrison: Talking With Gods Trailer

At New York Comic Con I went to the presentation of the Grant Morrison Documentary. The director Patrick Meaney showed us some clips of the film. I must say that I'm really impressed of how in depth the film is. We saw clips, pictures of Grant as child. His beginning on how he made the invisibles. If you are Grant Morrison fan this is the film to check out in November.

James Bond "Bloodstone" Hands On Preview

New York Comic Con was a blast and is officially over. Now it's time to tell you otakus and geeks about the great games we played. The first game that I couldn't wait to touch was James Bond "Bloodstone." The great thing about playing this demo was that you actually got to catch with the developers of the game. The great thing about this demo is that you had a wide range of levels to play. Their was the driving level, boat driving level and shoot levels.

Story - Well the developer I talk to Sandy was very tight lipped on the story. However Sandy did ensure that the story is original. The story was written by the same writer who wrote Goldeneye. Sandy said "We are really trying to give players the feel of Daniel Craig's James Bond. As you know James Bond is aggressive and want players to see that side of Bond." Judging from the cut scenes I saw which I won't spoil the game doesn't disappoint on story. It is very action packed. The driving stages run very smooth. I didn't have no control issues whatsoever. As I was driving buildings were blowing up and cars were shooting at James. However you won't be able to drive and shoot at the same time. As Sandy said "It would be very difficult to drive and shoot at the same time." I love the realism the game brings.

Gameplay - First let me talk about the shooting level. This new James Bond game is a 3rd person shooter. Unlike other Bond games this won't be in 1st person. I actually like that this is 3rd person, because of the aggressive nature that they are going for. Daniel Craig's James Bond uses a lot of hand to hand combat. That wouldn't work in first person. The gameplay is like your usual first person shooter. However their are situations where you have to decide whether you should stealth or go out guns blazing. Bloodstone introduces a focus feature in the game. Depending if you use hand to hand combat, the focus meter will fill up. The focus meter slows down the action making it easier to take out multiple targets. It's a nice way to take out multiple enemies. The hand to hand combat is very brutal. I slammed this guys head against the wall taking him out for sure.

Graphics - The graphics are similar to Quantum Of Solace game but way better. Character models are environments are great too look out. The driving level explosion are great. I didn't get any glitches during the demo.

Sound - The music is the game is wonderful. Pure James Bond sound it's very epic. Daniel Craig and Judi Dench reprise their roles and from the clips shown it's what you can expect from them.

Overall this game might be the best Bond to come out in a long time. Check out our full review in November.

NBA Jam Review

It has been years since an NBA Jam game was released by Midway. This time around EA Sports has the classic game on their hands. Is this new NBA Jam just as good as the old one? Or should you dust off the old Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo and play NBA Jam TE.

Story - Since this a sports game. Their is no story to this game. However if you want a story I will give you one. One day I went blah, blah, blah blah.

Gameplay - EA has delivered on the gameplay. Veteran players will feel right at home once they pop the game in. The game offers various modes to play from. There is the classic campaign mode, where players will choose a team of the choice and face the entire league. There is also new modes such as 1 on 1 boss battles. In this mode players will face NBA Legends in a one on one, toe to toe in a game. Elimination mode players will can take up to four players in an free for all. The player with the lowest score will be eliminated. Other modes include 21, which is a famous game in street ball. First player to score 21 points win. One of my favorite mode is "Smash." In this mode players will have to destroy the backboard strictly by slam dunks. Finally the Remix Tour which plays much like the game, only it has additions of powerups. This is nothing really new, if you played the NBA Jam TE in the old days. Some new powerups like speed, power and shrink. It's a welcome edition but it's not something you will be rushing to play.

The gameplay works very well on the Wii. EA Sports made sure there are many options on how to play. Players can play with the Wii Nunchunk and Mote and use the motion player option. Players will shoot and block by moving their body upwards and then down. Controlling the player will be used with the Nunchunk. However I felt playing with the motion sensor, was taking from the retro experience and found it more difficult. I suggest players to use the Wii Mote or Classic Controller, since it's more simple and easier to play. Sorry Gamecube owners the cube controller is not supported. The A.I. is challenging depending on the level you choose. I found the boss battles very fun to play. To go one on one with the legends and slam dunk in their faces is a blast. EA Sports have given the fans a true love letter and the gameplay doesn't disappoint. The only problem with this gameplay is their is no online play at all. I hope you have friends with the Wii who would like to play with you.

Gameplay Video

Graphics - The graphics stay true the original series with a few tweaks. The game still features real life photographs of the players with 3D model bodies. The crowd can't really be seen that well in the higher levels. However it's not something you will care about. The stadiums look clean and crisp. There was no framerate issues, everything runs smooth. Also yes fans the crowd still takes pictures when you are on fire.

Sound - The music in the game is pretty weak. It's not something you will bop your head too. However the commentary is pure classic NBA Jam. With new catch phrases and the famous line "He's on fire." Players will feel very nostalgic when listening to the commentary.

Replay Value - There are tons of things to unlock and Easter eggs to see. If you know NBA Jam then you know there are hidden celebrities in the game like the Beastie Boys, President Obama and Sarah Palin. The Jam challenges will keep you busy as you want to unlock everything in the game. With new modes, and harder difficulty the game will keep you playing. However no online play will keep online players away from this game.

Final Grade B+ - This game will make you feel nostalgia in the first the week of playing. The gameplay, sound and feel of NBA Jam is intact. With a few new additions like Remix Tour and Smash it breathes a new life into the franchise. However no online play and not much to offer after the game is complete, stops this game from being a solid A+. Final grade is B+.

FMA Day (Fullmetal Alchemist)

Hi everybody! In the FMA series October 3rd is a big date in FMA. Its the day Ed and Al burned their house down and started on their long journey in search to get their body back. Funimation decided to make this a real celebration and wants to know what this day means to you. Well FMA was really one of the first T.V 14 shows I watched on Adult Swim. I love this show. Even if it is anime, it shows so many lesson if you look and hear hard enough. This show taught me a lot about sacrifice and that in sometime "equivalent exchange" doesn't always work. I also love the humor in both the original and new series. So guys, watch the FMA or FMA Brotherhood and have yourself a Happy FMA Day! Anime Rules!!!!!!!!!! P.S tell Funimation on their blog or Facebook page what this day and series means to you ok? ^-^

Top Ten Villains Of The Dragonball Universe

If you are a regular reader to the site, or a listener to our podcast show. Then you know that I love the Dragonball Universe. Today I want to share with you my top ten picks of best villains. The list was not made up by the strongest to weakest. I made the list on what villain I think impacted the universe the most. Let's start shall we.

#10. King Piccolo

King Piccolo the huge threat in the Dragonball series. He was the first real baddie in DB. If it wasn't for Kid Goku using Penetrate attack. Who knows what rule King Piccolo would of had. King Piccolo gave birth to Piccolo Junior. The Piccolo we know today and love. Thanks King Piccolo.

#9. Cooler

If you are new to Dragonball then you probably don't know who Cooler is. That's because Cooler is not in the series of DB, DBZ, DBGT or DB Kai. Cooler was in two Dragonball Z movies. He is Frieza brother and some ways stronger and smarter. Cooler was a powerful opponent in the fifth movie. However it wasn't until the sixth movie that we see Metal Cooler. All I have to say is Goku and Vegeta are lucky.

8. Janemba

Janemba is featured in movie #12. He makes Super Saiyan 3 Goku look like a joke. He has two forms. The first form is this cute chubby demon looking thing. His second form he looks more like a devil. His attacks are amazing. Janemba can regenerate, teleport and he's a skilled swordsman. If he was in the series it would've taken a lot of episodes to bring him down.

7. Omega Shenron

The last villain in the Dragonball GT Series. He is also the most powerful. What made Omega Shenron different is the ending of the series. Due to the Omega Shenron Goku and the others had to rethink the way they use the Dragonballs. Omega also has one of the coolest attacks the Negative Karma Ball.

6. Vegeta

Vegeta was a great villain because he was driven. Driven to a single goal and that was to beat Goku. What makes Vegeta a great villain is that you never knew at times, whether he was on your team or for himself. Their were times Krillin and the others question his motives. Their is nothing more deadlier than a villain that comes as an ally.

5. Baby

Blasted Super Sayian 4 Goku! If it wasn't for Goku the last remaining Truffle would be running the universe. I love Baby! He was such a cool villain. He was like the invasion of the body snatcher but more bad ass. Baby Vegeta is my favorite form of him. He was the best saga in Dragonball GT.

4. Majin Buu

Majin Buu was one of the longest saga's in the DBZ series. Their was times that I thought that Buu was boring. Then I saw Super Buu and Kid Buu, and then I was saying wow this guy is sick. Super Buu has this psychotic appeal to him that sends chills down your spine. Also Majin Buu blew up the earth. How many DB villains can say that?

3. Broly

Broly just can't stay down. It took 3 movies to finally put an end to the legendary Super Sayian. If Broly ever reach a level beyond Super Sayian one their will be no more Dragonball. One of the most powerful threats in the series.

2. Frieza

Frieza is probably the most iconic villain in DBZ history. Frieza killed the Sayians, Krillian, Vegeta and countless of Namekian people. This dude was pure evil. He is also the reason for Goku becoming Super Sayian.

1. Cell & The Androids

Cell and the Androids was the biggest threat in DBZ series. The Z fighters had to train countless times to face this threat. Cell was one of the smartest, cunning and strongest villans. However he let his pride get in the way. The Androids 17 & 18 were cruel and powerful. They made SSJ Vegeta look like a joke. The Androids is our top villains in the Dragonball Universe.
