Grotesque Review

Grotesque is one of the most sickest, sadistic and grotesque horror films I have ever seen. If you thought "Hostel" was extreme you haven't seen nothing yet. Before I begin this review. I want to stress that this film is very graphic and not for the weak at heart. I also want to state that I'm not a fan of torture horror. Let's get to the review.

Story - After having their first date, a couple is kidnapped by a mad doctor. The doctor makes a deal with them. The deal is show him their will to survive and he will let them go. The doctor is a man who only gets sexual stimulation from torture. The couple is going have to get him very stimulated so he can release them. That's main plot of the story. The things that happen in this film will leave you speechless. I won't spoil much. I will just say scissors and a the girl's nipples, snip, snip. Mindless the brutality of this movie it actually has a theme to it. The theme actually makes you wonder about the strength of a human being and the strength of love, for that it brought a little heart and you cheer for the main characters.

Acting - The movie stars Tsugumi Nagasawa as Aki, Hiroaki Kawatsure as Kazuo and Shigeo Ôsako as The Doctor. The acting is believable for the runtime of an 1hr and 13 mins. Shigeo Osako steals the movie as The Doctor. It's the look on his eyes that makes me love his performance. The look on his eyes is pure evil, he looks like he has no soul and that makes a great video.

Direction - There is no CGI in the movie thank God. The effects are done very well. The setting is similiar to many torture films. The dark gritty place where no one can here you scream.

Final Grade C+ - The ending is piss poor and very unrealistic. Mindless tortue and only a few characterization. However this is still something you have to see. It's a shock value movie.

Japan Street Festival

Today I went to Japan Street Festival on E 14st near between 8th and 10th street, with my friends from Iheartcoolstuff. The street festival was pretty cool. I learned a lot of stuff. Here is just a little bit of what we saw.

Justin - It wouldn't be a Japan street festival without a little Cosplay fun!

Justin - It wouldn't be Japan without robots. Dr. Robot inc was there showing off some of his robot toys.

Justin - No that isn't what you think it is. Those aren't flowers, in fact they are panties that are shaped like flowers.

Justin - Instructions on how to pray at a Shinto Shrine.

Justin - Lady holding the shrine bell.

Justin - Getting my name written in Japanese.

Justin - Street Art in New York City

Justin - Yum, Yums

Justin - Japanese Soda!

Dragonball: The Magic Begins (The First Live Action Movie)

I'm convinced that Dragonball might not ever get a good adaption. Well unless I get discovered and hired to write the script and direct. Here is a clip of the 90's attempt of a Dragonball live action. It's called Dragonball The Magic Begins. Credit to ShiggyAngelofDeath youtube channel for putting this rare video up. Yes Goku is played by a girl. At least the nailed the turtle hermit part for Master Roshi. This is already better than Dragonball Evolution. What are your thoughts on this?

Otakus and Geeks Origins: Anime Angel's Geek Legacy

Now it is my turn to tell you my story on how I became Anime Angel, an Otaku/Geek. My story may not be an exciting one but I hope it answers all of your questions about who, what, when, where, why and how I became who I am today.

Ready for the Game

I started on my journey to nerdiness and otakuness with video games believe it or not. My mother had game systems starting from Sega Genesis, Game Boy Advance, to Playstation 1. After a time, the systems kept piling up such as Nintendo 64, Gamecube, and Playstation 2. Then there was the era of handhelds. I have a regular Gameboy Advance, (2 actually since my mom gave me hers), Gameboy Advance Sp, then Psp, and the old and new Nintendo DS. Yeah pretty much I have a arcade in my house. (I used to have a Dreamcast but we gave it away, oh well). Then as we get to this day and age, I got a Wii, and an Xbox 360. So really my game obsession started at home. Thank you mother!

"Hey these aren't cartoons".

I was about 6 or 7 years old when I first started getting into anime. The biggest program I used to watch every weekend was Toonami. Mind you, I thought these were all cartoons. I never placed them into categories yet. Some of the shows on Toonami such as DBZ, Sailor Moon (even had the Sailor Moon movies), Rurouni Kenshin, and Yu Yu Hakusho. I also remember watching a little bit of The Big O and Cowboy Beebop. As I gotten older and Toonami got more popular, so did the shows. Soon new shows started popping up such as Zatch Bell (one of my favs), Rave Master, One Piece, and Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo (yes it was a show. It was something like Sgt. Frog today. You know crazy plots and crazy characters you'll probably get lost at the beginning of a series). As time progressed, Naruto started to show up and I was completely hooked from the first episode. This was when I was about 12. This is also when Adult Swim opened my eyes to other anime I love like Bleach and Fullmetal Alchemist. Now that I'm becoming older, new anime and genres became known to me such as shojo and dare I say yaoi. (For the record I am will not be a yaoi fangirl anytime soon). I also remember starting to read manga I believe when I was in 5th grade. I enjoyed it ever since.

I LUV ANIME!!!!!!!!!

The thing that I love most about anime is that there are so many different types of it. Anime is different than most shows on t.v. In my opinion anime is better than most t.v shows. They show so many aspects of daily lives, but also they have shows that make you laugh and think. Anime can combine aspects that we normally wouldn't pick up on. For example, for Ouran High School Host Club is mostly a silly, sweet show. However if you watch it more closely, the characters and storyline is more deeper than you would have first thought. Another reason I luv anime is how it tells a story. Its different than what we're used to and also I luv the animations and artwork (thats also why I luv drawing it too).

People

Most of my friends who I hang around with are Otakus as well. My family is totally clueless about it and believe I'll get over it. Although they really don't mind at all. Other than that the people I talk to and hang around with are either Otakus, or has some clue or no clue about it but are cool with it. My friends and I always talked about anime and if some of my friends didn't know what the heck I was talking about, I either explained it or move to a subject they understand. I have such deep conversations with my friends especially one that is like a sister to me. We carry out such deep conversations about anything anime or game related. For instance on of my favorite game saga is Kingdom Hearts. We talk about almost every character in that series and how things would be in one scenario than the other. Its also the same with anime. It's totally fine with me because I'm happy I have people who except me for me.

"Here Today, Otaku Forever"

Well here you are. I'll probably continue be an Otaku for as long as I can. I hope this sheds light on who I am and how I became Anime Angel! Any other questions you want to ask, leave it in the comments below. Thanks guys for all your love and support! Anime Rules!!!!!!!!!!

Did Terra Remember Beast Boy?

"Things change Beast Boy the girl you want me to be is just a memory." - Terra

I was watching Teen Titans this week and remembered my favorite episode "Things Change." This was actually the last episode of the series, and it left viewers with unanswered questions. One of the main unanswered questions was did Terra really remember Beast Boy? There have been many theories and opinions on whether she did. I believe that the answer is in the episode. Here is my thoughts on this unanswered question.

I believe Terra did remembered Beast Boy and here is a list why.

1. She wouldn't agree to go out to eat with him. If she didn't know the guy or didn't care to hear him out she would have turn him down.

2. Terra has a look of regret on her face during the entire episode. Why would someone who supposedly doesn't remember a person, have a look of regret when they are around them?

3. Slade said to Beast Boy "If she doesn't want to remember it's by her own choosing. Don't you see she doesn't want to see you anymore."

4. Beast Boy tries to get Terra to use her power but she is so afraid to use it. If she didn't remember or was a total different Terra, she wouldn't be so afraid to use her power.

5. The ending is a clear giveaway that she did remember. Here are some quotes that can support this claim.

Beast Boy: You don't belong here Terra.

Terra: Stop calling me that.

Beast Boy: It's who you are.

Terra: What do you want from me!

Terra: Things aren't the way you remember so just leave me alone.

Terra: Things change Beast Boy the girl you want me to be is just a memory.

The last one really sums it up for me that Terra remembered. The girl you want me to be is just a memory. A memory of Beast Boy and herself. Don't take my word for it see for yourself. Click the ending below.

Pokepark Pikachu's Great Adventure Preview (Hands On)

Who would think that Pokemon would have so many issues. Issues not in terms of gameplay, but in terms of needing Pikachu's help. Today I took a look at Pokepark Pikachu's Great Adventures for the Wii. The game opens up with Mew telling Pikachu of a problem that is going on. Pikachu sets out to solve the problem and finds the Pokepark. You then are taking to a tutorial which shows you the basic controls.

The gameplay is pretty simple and basic from what I played so far. You hold the Wii Mote sideways. You utilize the D-Pad to move Pikachu. The B button is used to control the camera. I found the camera control to be a little clunky. For example when you jump from platform to platform, sometimes the camera won't go fully in the direction you wanted. The 1 button is used to dash. The 2 button is used to jump. The A button is used for the lighting attack. As the game progresses you will upgrade to new attacks such as Iron Tail. In the game you will be able to make friends, to help you with tougher opponents. This is a great feature and brings a strategy element to the game. There is mini games as well such as Tag, Hide and Seek, Pokemon Quizzes and Racing. The graphics is a great and I had no framerate issues. All the Pokemon so far that we seen played well. The music is colorful and goes well with the feel of Pokemon. We will have a full review when it's released in the holiday season 2010.

Alice in the Country of Hearts Review

Alice in Wonderland has been an epic classic since the book came out. Many people such as Walt Disney and recently Tim Burton, have put a spin or shed some light on this awesome tale. Today I bring forth to you Alice in the Country of Hearts, which is almost like Alice in Wonderland but a whole lot different.

Story

Alice once again fell down the rabbit hole, this time by force. The white rabbit, Peter White, has forced poor Alice into participating in a game. Of course Alice refused and asked to go home. However, Peter informed her that she can't leave until the game is finished. Now Alice is being stuck in Wonderland until she can figure out how to get out. Is this a dream or Alice's reality?

Just to let everyone know, I have Alice in Wonderland fever! This story makes you want more and the characters you won't forget in a long time. There are a couple of characters that you probably never heard of and the characters you know and love, have more dark personalities than you could imagine. No spoilers here but you will be taken back on how they changed the Mad Hatter. I was speechless myself!

Story line

The story line is so dark that it makes you really think. Some questions you may ask yourself is " what is this world all about?, How it came into be, and what is this game?" The story line keeps you very interested and wanting more.

Scale of Awesomeness

I give this manga a A+. Alice and Wonderland will take on a whole new meaning with twists on characters and a storyline that made you wish to visit Wonderland one day. I recommend that you read it. You can read up to Volume 24 on *shameless plug coming* onemanga.com. *Another shameless plug* Underneath the tag origins is my story on how I became Anime Angel check it out and check this manga out too! Disaster Day Of Crisis (Wii Import Review)

What happens when you combine "The Day After Tomorrow" and the Nintendo Wii? You get one hell of a disaster. Disaster in a good way not a bad way. Disaster Day Of Crisis is 2008 release in Europe, Japan and Australia. It was developed by Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo. Is this disaster worth the import? Or should you steer clear of the this storm?

Story - You play as Raymond Bryce an ex United States Marine and International Rescue member. The game begins with Ray and his friend Steve Hewitt on a resuce mission on a volcano. Sadly the volcano erupts and Ray and Steve must escape before time is up. Steve dies and Ray lives. This works great for characterization, because Ray will be haunted with this throughout the game. A year later Ray quits the rescue team. He is then called in by the FBI to aid them in stopping a former Marine group called Surge. Surge has their hands on some nukes and are planning to release it. Ray doesn't want anything to with it, until he finds out that Steve sister Lisa is in their hostage. While this happening natural disasters are taking place. Ray is having on hell of a 24 hours. The story works minus a few far fetch plot points. What you will enjoy about the story is how Ray deals with himself afte Steven's death. The story has great pacing and characterization.

Gameplay -
This a very verstaile game. It has first person arcade shooting, driving, platforming and action. Most of the time you will play with Ray in the 3rd person. Using the Wii Mote with the Nunchuk you go on hell of a ride. The Nunchuk is used to move Ray. A button is to jump, B button is to sprint. C button is use to move the camera and in gun battles to zoom in. Z button is used to call out for help to find people who need to be rescue, also to clear your lungs. In gun battles Z is used to take cover. During the driving levels 1 is used to brake and 2 is used to accerlate. The gameplay works all around and it responds very well. There is also some really good quick time events that I won't spoil.

Ray also have to rescue people who are trapped. However rescuing is purely optional. I suggest it because you gain experience points for upgrades. The upgrading system works really well, depending on what you unlock Ray will be able to run faster, have more powerful guns and larger life bar. There also is a stamina gauge that you must watch at all times. When Ray's stamina is low his life energy will be slowly draining. It's best to have something in the inventory at all times. The A.I. in gun battles depending on your level is fairly easy. However the boss fights can be a little long if you don't have the right weapons. If you get stuck with only a pistol get ready for a long battle. The driving stages work really well and the motion sensor responds well to your commands. This was one well thought out game.

Gameplay Video

Graphics - The graphics was great to me. Why does the import games have the best graphics? The graphics are really up to Wii standards, you have to see it for yourself to see. I did find some of the natural disaster graphics not really that impressive. The acid rain didn't look good at all. There was no framerate issues and it was great to see a end of the world feel to it.

Sound - The soundtrack is AMAZING! I felt like I was in a real action movie playing this. There is this one track after the Tsunami hits that has so much emotion, you almost feel a connection to the people suffering in this game. Whoever did the soundtrack really did a hell of job.

Replay Value - This game is a ride you want to take again. Once you unlock everything you might want to try it on the harder mode. It's a great ride and a different game.

Final Grade B+ - Disaster Day Of Crisis gets a well deserved B+. The game has a little shortcomings in the story, but it has great gameplay and is very fun to enjoy. I say import it because it's a sleeping gem.
